Anyone personally tried copper or magnet therapy for arthritis?
Hello,
I met a very old man who complained of bad arthritis and i felt sorry for him.
I was wondering if YOU PERSONALLY have tried either magnet or copper therapy - a copper/magnetic bangle - for YOUR arthritis for a length of time.
Did it work for you?
Thanks
5 AnswersAlternative Medicine1 decade agoProcedure of buying land without a solicitor? UK?
Hello,
I am interested in buying a couple of acres near to my house and approached the owner, who is an elderly man and he is considering selling the land to me.
Ideally, i would prefer to keep the administration fees to a minimum and i am not concerned with the particulars of the land - just the ownership.
Is it possible to buy the land and transfer ownership without a solicitor?
What is the minimum involvement of a solicitor that i could get away with?
Do we both need solicitors or does only one of us need a solicitor?
Any particulars regarding the procedure would be appreciated.
Thanks
2 AnswersRenting & Real Estate1 decade agoSpots on jawline = hormonal imbalance and effect on ttc?
Hello,
I suffer from adult acne - well i say acne, but don't feel it really is acne because it isn't a rash of spots but more like 4 or 5 individual spots - and my spots tend to be localised around my jawline, not my chin, and i heard that this can be an indication of hormonal imbalance.
I was just wondering if any ladies out there suffer from spots that are localised on your jawline and how easily you managed to conceive... or not conceive...
Thanks
3 AnswersTrying to Conceive1 decade agoWhat colour scheme with this sofa?
I bought this sofa:
http://images.csl-furniture.co.uk/hero/1532/906/ZA...
It is a black and pale greyish brown mix.
The room that it has gone in is the second reception room that is intended to be a masculine snug/library/adult room.
We intend on filling the room with dark chunky wood furniture and shelves.
When i look at the room all i can think is grey and blacks and i would like to introduce some colour somehow.
I do not like wallpaper.
I have four walls, curtains, carpet and cushions to add colour with, but i don't want it to be over the top...

8 AnswersDecorating & Remodeling1 decade agoGloss paint and skirting board disaster - please help me?
Urgh.
At every single turn we are finding our DIY efforts turn to crap when it comes to the skirting boards and glossing them.
Our latest disaster is in our new office, which the builders just finished including new skirting boards.
Our previous failings were due to having to work from crappy old skirting boards with several layers of gloss/varnish and sanding them down was a nightmare and then the gloss slipped and it just got worse and worse.
Back to the new office and we had finally got the walls done and it looked fantastic - all we had to do was paint the brand new untreated skirting boards - how hard could it be?
We tried for a proper job. The skirting boards were already smooth so my husband started with the knotting solution and then added a dulux all surface primer (i was away when this happened).
Then today i get my brush out to start with the Once Dulux Gloss in brilliant white...
Firstly the gloss had a thick layer of a thin grey liquid on it. The tin said "do NOT shake or stir" so what the hell was i supposed to do? I had to stab my brush in real deep just to reach white... so i gave it a shake and a stir and what i ended up with was a runny gloss that looked like it was pale grey.
What is wrong with the gloss? What should i have done?
Then i go to apply the gloss just to see how it turns out and the whole surface of the skirting board is rough and looks like very coarse sandpaper!
I ask my husband if he used a clean brush and cleaned the area of dust etc before priming and he swears that he did - but now it looks like crap! It looks like we need to start sanding it and we really wanted to avoid having to do this!
What happened?! Why did the skirting board go from smooth... to smooth + primer... to coarse sandpaper?!
HELP!
Me and my husband are ready for killing each other because we feel so frustrated and disheartened - we just wanted one room in the whole house to be finished :(
12 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)1 decade agoI need someone who knows their stuff about roses?
Hello,
I have a retaining wall at the front of my property, which means that my lawn is flush with the top of the wall but the street is at the base of the wall on the other side.
There is about a 3 foot drop the to the street.
I want to plant some roses on the boundary that hang down the wall.
I was thinking rambling rose, but then i read that rambling roses shouldn't be right against a wall because they will rot or something?
Anyway! Rambling or climber?
Also, do you think the minimum height is a good idea? I will be planting a hedge of some desciption behind the roses to create a barrier so that element of the design is just about it looking good.
Thanks
7 AnswersGarden & Landscape1 decade agoWhat is wrong with my computer?
I like to watch online movies - on You Tube, BBC iPlayer, etc etc
But it's been playing up recently.
I start a movie - fine.
If i close it though, it continues to play and i can hear it still playing over any other movies i watch.
So, i just opened a Part 2 You Tube movie accidently, i wanted to watch Part 1.
I switch to Part 1 on the same internet tab and i can hear them both playing at the same time.
I close down the internet and i can still hear both playing! What is going on?!
PS. It's not a virus or anything.
Thanks
5 AnswersYouTube1 decade agoCan you explain my ovulation type pains?
I am ttc and i have always had a sharp OV pain amount when i am due to OV but the last couple of months i have been getting an extra pain.
I have had the initial sharp pain on the right for this cycle and my last cycle, but then a couple of days later i get a slightly lesser sharp pain on the left.
I had OV pains on the 19th and then today i have them on the other side.
It second pain only last several hours like my usual pain.
I don't use OPKs but today is the last day of what would be regarded as a normal cycle day for ovulation, i am on day 18.
What could it be?
Should i have sex? I last had sex on the 19th when i had my other pain.
Thanks
1 AnswerTrying to Conceive1 decade agoShould i insist on sex or not?
Me and my husband agreed to only have sex every other day this month towards our ttc efforts.
It isn't romantic, just get the job done asap, but we just want to get pregnant and so romance can take a back seat - no big deal.
We last had sex last night, which was when i was expecting to ovulate.
However, my cramps imply that i am in fact ovulating today - on our "day off".
My husband has been making a big fuss about being really tired and going to bed early and when i mentioned to him that i think we should have sex again today he seemed reluctant saying "oh but we've had plenty of sex and today i'm really exhausted".
I don't know whether to put my foot down and insist or let it go and just hope that there are some sperms in there from yesterday...
15 AnswersTrying to Conceive1 decade agoDo i need to prime an untreated skirting board?
Hello.
I am decorating a room that has a new skirting board on.
Do i need to prime it before glossing it?
I already have a plaster primer made from emulsion and 10% water - would that be ok to use?
It has got onto the skirting board in places and seems to have created a nice rough coating - what do you think?
It is really necessary to use a wood specific primer?
Thanks
7 AnswersDecorating & Remodeling1 decade agoShould i encourage her out without the baby?
Hello.
I have a friend that has an 8 month old baby.
It is her first baby and she is still on maternity leave, planning on not going back, and she is with the baby 24/7 normally by herself.
Every time i go around she is just obsessed with the baby. I don't mind listening to her talk to the baby constantly when it is there, but even when it isn't it is like she can't think of anything else.
Today, the baby went to sleep and she took it to bed and even though the baby was sound she kept on going upstairs to check it was alive.
Now, i'm sure that i am just being an ignorant and selfish person, but do you think it would be a good thing for me to encourage her out without the baby?
I was thinking of maybe just going out to have our hair cut and then lunch and then home.
She doesn't breast feed so it isn't as if someone else couldn't look after her...
7 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoWhat did you know, that you are surprised that other people don't know?
Last night, there was a fat dark "fly" heading towards my husband and because he didn't recognise it he reached for the newspaper.
I told him not to be so silly it was just a beetle.
He laughed and told me that beetles didn't fly...
I pointed that that ladybirds fly too and he was astonished.
I couldn't believe that a 35 year old man didn't know that beetles can fly.
Has something similar happened to you?
9 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoDispute with a neighbour about a bush on the boundary?
Hello.
There is a bush right on the boundary that i share with my nextdoor neighbour.
It is his bush but it grows over my driveway and is just touching the roof of my house, which is ok except for the fact that this bush is full of thousands of red berries which are constantly being dropped onto my driveway.
I was speaking to him recently and i mentioned all the berries and he made it clear that he didn't want the bush cutting back very much because of his privacy.
Funny thing is that he has cut the bush back to the trunk on HIS side.
I know that i have a right to cut to the boundary, but there would literally be nothing left.
What would you do?
Is there a way to prevent a bush from producing berries without damaging it?
Is there a way to prompt branches to grow on his side?
Thanks
7 AnswersGarden & Landscape1 decade agoHow does your dog tell you it wants something?
My puppy is fully aware that he needs to go outside to go toilet, but he doesn't know how to tell me when he needs to go and so he just sits at the door but because i don't know he is there he will end up siting there indefinitely until he goes at the door.
I don't want to encourage barking or scratching.
He doesn't come and get me because i don't follow him anywhere, he follows me.
I was thinking about getting a bell for him to ring...
How does your dog tell you it needs to go outside?
16 AnswersDogs1 decade agoNot a troll question - Can you help me find a type of bell?
Please save me the dumb comments...
I am looking for a type of bell that has a rope attached directly to the ringer inside.
To ring the bell, you shake the rope.
I have tried google but it's hard enough finding somewhere that sells bell, never mind finding a particular type without knownig the terminology.
This is a UK question.

5 AnswersOther - Home & Garden1 decade agoHas anyone else noticed that children are better behaved than adults?
I have a puppy at the moment so everytime i go out everyone seems to make a beeline for him.
Any children that i have encountered clearly want to interact with him, but they look to me to see if it is ok and then i ask them to wait until he is calm which they are happy to do.
The adults start off with a high pitched "aaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww" and then when the puppy backs off as they approach they start with the kissing noises, clicking noises and baby talk.
If you ask them to wait until the puppy is calm they will give you the filthiest look...
What age do you think it is that people lose their common sense when it comes to animals?
10 AnswersDogs1 decade agoAnyone had a bad experience at a "puppy party"?
My puppy is off to a puppy party in a few days where there should be 12 puppies of a similar age for him to interact and play with.
When i meet other dogs in the street i ask them if their dog is friendly to other dogs before letting my puppy get close to them, but it's a little different with puppies because they are still learning and might be a little rough without trying to hurt.
I was just wondering if anyone had a bad experience at a similar gathering that i might be able to learn from.

6 AnswersDogs1 decade agoA question for people who spend too much time on the PC or console?
Hello.
I am married to a man who likes to play FPS games on the PC.
He is in a "clan" and they are "friends" and he plays matches with them. He is a very good player and they are the "best" the many "leagues".
I don't mind my husband playing on the PC. I enjoy playing similar computer games too.
He could play on it all day long providing he was getting his real life responsibilities in order but the problem is that he isn't.
I feel like i am all about us and our and he just thinks about his game.
We just moved into our "family home"" and it needs a lot of work that i am happy to get stuck into but his idea of DIY is laying cables to improve his FPS!
I have tried reasoning, i have tried leading by example and i have tried setting boundaries but i wake up every morning struggling to cope with my responsibilities because he hasn't done his the day before.
Now the question is:
Presuming you are in a serious relationship, how should your partner go about getting you to play less? What would make you want to stop? What would make you think of someone else for a change?
Thanks
2 AnswersVideo & Online Games1 decade agoWho is responsible for damages caused due to council permission being refused?
I have a very large tree in my garden that is around 25 years old and about 10m tall.
I have just bought the property so i know nothing of the specifics but the tree is severely damaged.
There is a huge gash in the trunk and it is as if a 1m long section of the trunk has been torn away.
The gash is half way through the trunk and although it looks like it has been like that for a while and i haven't seen it bending - i think it is reasonable to assume that if there was a big enough storm, it would fall over.
The tree is in a conservation area so i had to apply for permission and they are dragging it out.
I was just wondering what happens if they refuse to give permision to fell the tree and as a result it falls on my house or something?
5 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoMy puppy goes a little crazy in the evening?
My border collie puppy is a great little guy even though he is only 10 week old he is very obedient indoors (needs a little work outside) and good on the lead.
He is ideal in all the situations that people warned me about - we don't hear a peep out of him all night and he travels well and doesn't nip at all.
However, in the evening a couple of hours before bed he goes a little crazy.
He throws his toys around, sprints around the house and turns into a little sod. He sometimes even pees in the middle of the floor although he is fully toilet trained the rest of the time.
I tend to just let him get through his hissy fit and exhaust himself but i don't know if this is the right thing to do.
Anytime i try to interact with him when he is like this it seems to have a negative effect because he seems to just get even more hyper.
Should i just leave him to it or is there something i should be doing?
He gets plenty of exercise and stimulation and sleep for a 10 week old pup.
Thanks
