Grand unified theory question?
Hey guys I have a question about how the strong weak and electromagnetic forces unify. A lot of places like this
http://www.learner.org/courses/physics/unit/text.h...
Show a graph of the force strength against energy for the 3 forces. The one without supersymmetry shows them not intersecting.
My question is, how can the electromagnetic and weak forces have different strengths at energies higher than the energy that they unify into the electro-weak?

1 AnswerOther - Social Science6 years agoObtain the focal length from m=-(v/f) +1?
I m given the equation m=-(v/f) +1 where m is magnification, v is image distance and f is focal length of a lens. I m told to plot a graph of m versus v and then find the focal length of the lens from the gradient of the graph and the intercept on the V axis.
As far as I can see though the equation is in the form y=mx +c with -1/f being the gradient. I don t see how I can get the focal length using both the intercept and gradient so if anyone can help that d be great! Thank you :)

No answers for this online that are free, can anyone do this question? Specifically the first part so that I check if I'm right? Thanks.
14. This problem concerns the mathematical treatment of a simple model
of an electric toy car of mass m, which is initially stationary. The bat-
teries in the car can be considered as an electrical power source with
constant power P. You may neglect air-resistance and other experi-
mental imperfections in the calculations.
(a) Suppose that the car is placed on a level surface and that the
motor can be treated as a device which converts electrical energy
directly into kinetic energy. Calculate the kinetic energy of the
car as a function of time, and hence its velocity as a function of
time.

A sheet of carbon reinforced plastic measuring 80mm x 80mm x 1.5mm has two large surfaces coated with highly conducting metal film. When a potential difference of 240v is applied between the metal films there is a current of 2 mA in the plastic. Calculate the resistivity of the plastic.
My answer ended up as p= (12000 x (1.92 x 10^-5))/0.08 = 28.8 ohm meters. Seems a bit high, have i gone wrong?
2 AnswersPhysics8 years agoElectric current question help?
Calculate the number of electrons passing through a wire in 10 minutes when the current is:
1 (then that U with a line extending from the left hand side of) amps. I dont know if that symbol changes the question? If so could you give me its name please.
Anyway, I worked out the charge in coulombs as 1*(10*60) = 600 coloumbs. I then divided this by the charge of 1 electron, 600/(1.6*10^-19) and got 3.75*10^21.
However my book says the answer is 3.8*10^15.
What am I doing wrong?
2 AnswersPhysics8 years agoA level advice needed!?
So I'm an AS student this year taking maths, philosophy, history and english. The problem is that I really really miss physics and I'm starting to wonder if I'd made the right decision. I am good at physics, very good, I was the best in my year and I'm also talented at maths so it's not a question of the material being too difficult. What should I do? Just forget physics? Do it just as an AS level next year? Try and do 5 AS levels this year and attempt to catch up? Or drop history and move to a physics class? I'd really appreciate you guy's take on all this :)
1 AnswerPrimary & Secondary Education8 years agoDoes the society of black lawyers allow white members?
Having seen them a lot in the news recently and in particular with their ridiculous claims focussing on the usage of the word "yid" at tottenham I've been wondering if they do admit white lawyers and if so, how many?

3 AnswersHomework Help9 years agoAnkle injury (not a common sprain)?
So I was playing football and I felt something "go" (I don't know how to describe it, kind of like a snap although it clearly wasn't one) and I carried on playing for about 2 minutes with no pain before the game ended. Fast forward 7 days and I have pain when running on the balls of my feet. It's normally fine walking on it (although stairs can hurt it) and I have full range of movement with no pain. I've managed to train once since that match but it's made my ankle worse. Any ideas on what the problem is (I don't think it's a normal strain), recovery time or treatment? Thanks.
1 AnswerInjuries9 years agoHow do you work out this question?
A neutron is travelling at 7.5 M/S against the force of gravity which is 10N/Kg (i know it's not really but this is the question). The answer is 2.8 Meters but we haven't been taught how to do this, (GCSE A* level physics if it helps). Swift responses appreciated :)
