I want to set up LAN network in my home. Will this method work?
Right now, I use simple 2-line phones in my home, and this line is also passed to a router that makes internet available via lan to a single pc, and throughout the house using Wi-Fi.
Now, when the house wiring was designed, the phone wiring was made so that, instead of sharing the required 2 phone lines, 10 lines, from each room, are available at a common junction near the house entrance. Only 2 lines of all the rooms are interconnected at this junction so that the phones work. Now, can I do the following:
I put the router at this common junction,
keep the connection of the phone lines as it is, and
using the remaining 8 wires, I connect LAN of different rooms to the router?
My router allows to connect 4 LAN cables, can I share a single LAN between various different rooms(Does bus network work with ethernet) ? And if no, is there any other way to use more than 4 LAN connections?

So, I have this phone, a cordless and it uses NiMH batteries. Recently, it started showing very low charge storing capacity. So, I thought about discharging it. I didn't have any resistors and any such thing, so I just shorted the ends of the battery using a wire. Held it there only for a second or 2 and disconnected the wire. Then, the battery heated, and kept heating up more, without any connections. I assumed that was the heat being released of the prior discharge, and so, I just let it cool. Then, when I inserted it in my phone, the phone did not work. I let it charge for 15-20 min, looking for a hint of charge, but still did not work.
Then, to revive it, I tried to jump start the battery. First, I did so using my own mobile phone battery. The cordless battery was 3.6 V, 830 mAH, while my phone battery was 3.7 V, 1000 mAh... Again, I held it for some seconds(+ve to +ve, -ve to -ve), Put the battery in the cordless and tried. As soon as I put the battery to charge, the display told me to let it charge for 6 hours.
The screen kept fading, so I tried pressing any key, and again all went quiet. Screen blank. Now, I thought of jump starting the battery with my phone charger(5 V 150 mA). I applied the polarities for a little while longer, 5-6 seconds. Still did not work. Then, I used a 9V charger(current unknown, but less) to try... Still not working. In all tries, I did get a few sparks.
Then, for one last try, I tried my mobile battery. Now, my phone stopped working, and it does not even charge. I tried shorting the cordless battery, and the wire burnt as if it was fully charged.
So, what is happening?? Now, I have 2 non-working phones, and don't have any idea what to do. Where did I go wrong?
