If a 150 pounder needs 50g protein, does a 300 pounder need 100g?
The average recommendation for protein is .9 g per kg of weight. However that is often summarized as ~50g protein a day. If you do the math, you see that they are calculating it for a 150 person. If you do the math as a percentage of 2,000 calories, again, a ~150 pound person.
But protein is used for cell repair and a 300 pounder has many more cells. The current research in diets is that protein is king, but I don't see anybody talking about taking 100g protein a day, except maybe body builders.
What don't I understand?
