  • 27 years old and my parents are disappointed that i don't have a "real career/job" What do I do?

I am 27 years old and I have an associates degree and a bachelor's degree in international relations. (pretty much a glorified liberal arts degree). I got the BA back in 2009 and haven't really done anything with it, except mount up a whole pile of debt. My parents are pissed because they think I should be doing something more with my life. (I am currently in charge of folding clothes at a mens big and tall store and do childcare at a church).

I don't like talking to my parents because they feel like I am not living up to my full potential. They consistently throw my younger sisters success in my face. I am incredibly proud of my sister and want nothing but the best for her and am incredibly glad that she has a job lined up for her right after college. But my parents feel like if they keep throwing that in my face, it will spur me to jealousy and make want to go after a "better job".

And I have tried applying to different jobs, but when starbucks turns you down, when a country club turns you down when you apply for a valet position, it kind of sucks. I have applied to school systems around my area, and consistently been turned down or not even called back. I am pretty sure I have been close to stalking a few potential employers (read sarcasm) and still haven't found a job and its 2013. I am in debt and no real prospects for getting out.

So my question to you all is, how do I

    1. Keep the faith, because I know that God has a plan and a purpose

    2. Keep the faith without losing my mind

    3. Deal with parental dissapointment

    4. Find a job that will help stay current with rent and bills.

I don't make a ton of money, (about 800 a month, not on welfare or stuff like that.) and i really need some dental work done. I have heard negative things about Brighter.com and careington.com, and mainstream dental insurance companies cost you an arm and a leg. Does anyone know where or how i can get could dental work done in richmond virginia. I need wisdom teeth extractions, fillings and cleaning.

  • 1999 Ford Contour engine is flooding, I think. What is the problem?

1999 Ford Contour engine is flooding, I think. What is the problem?

My car is a 1999 Ford Contour with 149K miles on it. When I take it out for about 40 minutes or, turn off the ignition and run a quick errand and come back out to start the car it wont start.

    What is the malfunction?

50 minutes ago - 4 days left to answer.

    .

Everytime I drive the car for about 30 to 45 minutes, stop it to run and errand for like 5 minutes and get back in the car, it won't start. It will sound like its trying to turn over, but it wont, then it will shudder and die. I have to wait for about 45 minutes for it to re-calibrate itself and then I can restart the car.

When I try to get the car going after the whole "45 minutes driving, 5 minutes off" deal, I usually have my foot on the break. When I try to start it and it won't turn over, I notice that it gets harder and harder to press on the break.

  • What does starbucks mean when they say that they are "still filling positions?"?

So I applied to starbucks online and got called on a wednesday to have an interview on saturday. I thought the interview went pretty well, since it went an hour long and it was done by the store manager. She tells me that she will call me back the next wednesday to let me know what her decisions are. I hear nothing back on wednesday or thursday so give her a call friday. I tell her i am just trying to touch base with her and she tells me that "she is still filling positions" and that I will know something by monday.....

is this a good or a bad sign that i did or didn't get the job at starbucks?
