  • Taking accutane vs continuing minocycline?

I started developing acne when I was around 10, and I am now 16. It's progressively gotten worse until a few years ago when I started taking antibiotics, using a sulfur scrub, topicals, etc... I was on something for awhile, and got switched to minocycline, which I've been on for at least the past year.

I'm pretty sure I've developed a resistance to it. I was taking a stronger antibiotic (which I don't remember the name of) that helped a bit more but was told I would have to be taken off it. Now, if I don't take the minocycline for a week my acne builds back up, but it's far from gone.

It's all across my face, back, and upper chest. I have *extremely* oily skin, so I have to wipe my face off quite often throughout the day - something I've read accutane would fix.

So would accutane be worth the "risks" involved? I'd prefer not to spend years on antibiotics, especially considering how much worse it could be in the long run, and that they don't really permanently heal the acne.

  • Torn ligaments/tendon in finger?

A few days ago I was tubing, fell off while still holding on, and most likely pulled or tore some stuff in my hand and finger. It happened too fast to remember the details. Anyways, I didn't ice it for a few hours and it swelled up to a point that got me worried, I had it xrayed, and nothing came up. The swelling has gone down a bit, but each day more bruises appear - on the middle joint of my middle finger, around the actual joint, and on the joint of my index finger and shaft of my index finger. There's still a fair amount of swelling in my hand and my middle finger.

I play bass and tenor sax, so keeping my hands in good condition is a must. Should I be worried about potentially permanent effects, or leave it as is with ibuprofen and ice? The bruising is quite unnerving.

    Thanks!

  • Skipping my senior year of high school?

I'm about to start my Junior year, and I'll have all my credits (and more) by the end of this school year. I could honestly care less about the "senior" stuff like prom and such, and I'd pretty much be taking college level classes anyways. So why not skip it and go straight to college, where I wouldn't have to deal with all the bullsh*t of high school?

  • Help identifying a flute?

Well, I've managed to acquire a flute, but from what I can tell there are no markings on it to determine who made it.

There's something at the top of the body that says "Wurzburg" then under it - "By German Engineers". I found a serial number underneath a rod, "0211660". I know for a fact that it's fairly old and is silver plated, but I couldn't find any marking like pictures of Gemeinhardts have.

I've never played flute, help would be greatly appreciated. I know it's annoying having the recurring question of cost, but could someone please help with that as well? :)

  • What would my vocal range be?

Alright, I'm a bit of a noob on pitches, but I've been messing around today trying to find my range. I can hit the A string of my bass guitar (A1 right?) and I can sort of fry at low E. The highest I can go in my "natural" voice is F4.

I'm assuming I'd be a bass? Also, do falsetto notes count when determining the highest your voice can hit?

  • Favorite Cryptopsy breakdown?

I love None So Vile and its breakdowns, every riff is sickeningly catchy and the structure is brilliant.

So what is your favorite Cryptopsy song/breakdown? I'm going with Slit Your Guts.

And if anyone mentions something off one of their deathcore albums I will commit seppuku.

  • Jobs for teen guys with long hair?

Well I'm facing a little bit of a dilemma, I'm currently 16 and Summer's approaching, my only source of income being the few lawns I mow every week.

My Dad has your typical "cut that sh*t off and go find a job" sort of attitude, but would my long hair really be an obstacle in finding one? Just a generic low wage job, Subway or Sweet Bay and what not, plus I can pull it back effectively. I get it cut and shower every day, etc. etc.

Oh yeah, I'm a "good kid", straight A's, fairly dependable, all that general stuff... but I don't want to get rid of the hair. I'll probably apply for a job in Guitar Center or Sam Ash anyways when I'm 18 since that's where I spend the majority of my money.

    Thanks in advance

  • Deathcore/metalcore that doesn't suck?

Yes, I'm looking for deathcore or metalcore that doesn't suck.

So what are some bands in the genres that aren't terrible? If you're going to mention Suicide Silence, BMTH, BFMV, As I Lay Dying, All That Remains, TDWP, Atreyu, Killswitch, August Burns Red or any other similar bands then please don't comment. I want something that is actually different!

Maybe I'll just get a good laugh and find that asking this question was a complete waste of time.

  • One more day until Omnivium?

And an avatar change for me. Thessling is probably my favorite bassist in tech death and I have a feeling Omnivium will be one of the highlights of death metal for '11.

MQ: Thoughts? Will it surpass Cosmogenesis?

  • Spawn of Possession disbanding?

This may not be the best place to ask the question, but it's quick and easy...

I've heard that Spawn of Possession will be disbanding in 2012. Is this true? I've only found a few comments after searching on Google a bit (Youtube, Rivers of Gore, Metal Storm, etc) but only slight mentions.

  • Looking for some Christian metal bands? :D?

Recently I was listening to Cryptopsy, a Christian metal band my friend turned me on to and it changed my life. I have now completely changed my attitude, my look, and most importantly my hairstyle. I'm totally digging the scene look and I have the most sideswept hair in my school. It's purple now, with black highlights.

  • Thoughts on Quo Vadis?

I just downloaded Defiant Imagination last night, it's amazing.

I had known they were good, just not THIS good. Steve Digiorgio's fretless really makes the album interesting, and the vocals aren't terribly monotonous like I find most melodeath to be.

Might just look into replacing my Focus avatar!

  • Hey Rock & Pop, I'm eating some blueberries?

They're alright, there's another box in the fridge so maybe I'll switch it out, but I'm already half done with this one! Maybe I'll just finish off my average blueberries, they're slightly grainy in that weird way.

Before you unleash your rain of "look at that spammer dude lulz!" comments, please keep in mind that this is far more constructive than half of the questions being asked right now in R&P...
