  • How did you quit smoking?

What is the most effective method for smoking cessation? I am a slave to Mr. C, and I do not want to trade one bad habit for another. I have tried the patch, gum, and an anti-depressant. I always let Mr. C. convince me that I need him, and I let him back in my life. What worked for you?

This is my 5th attempt to stop. I started 22 years ago. I am heavy smoker, but I smoke very light cigarettes (friends call it grass clippings). Also, I tend to let a great number of them burn up. I think I can get past the nicotine dependence. The psychological dependence gets me every time. Please help! I want to be a former smoker.

  • Anyone interested in Mothman?

I am not specifically speaking of the movie because there is a vast difference between the facts and the movie. If have experienced a sighting or have researched the history, I would like to hear your opinion of what Mothman is and/or isn't.

  • Quick relief for Poison Oak/Ivy/Sumac??

My daughter has her first case of poison oak/ivy. Because of her work, letting the area breathe is out of the question 12 hours a day. Does anyone know a quick fix for the itching? I know the rash must run its course, but maybe there is something that helps battle the itch.

    All advice is appreciated!

  • Been to the Circus Lately?

I have asked this question recently, but I think I chose the wrong category because I did not get answers. I will try again, even if this is not the most logical category. Ringling Brothers & Barnum & Bailey is coming to a nearby town -- the Gold Tour (An Upside Down World). I took my family to the Hometown Tour 2 years ago. Has anyone been to the Gold Tour? How was it? If you know, how does it compare to the Hometown Tour. It will cost me about $300 to take my whole clan, so I need recommendations before the tickets go on sale Monday morning (July 17).

This is not a question about animals. It is a question that pertains to 2 specific performances. If you have not attended, please to not clutter the answer field with unsolicited opines. Save those for the PETA discussions in another forum.

  • Will I lose my desktop?

I really am not computer illiterate, even though this question will make me sound as though I am. In fact, I am the person my friends and colleagues contact with “how do you do . . .” computer questions. Still I find myself asking a dumb question.

When you save something to your desktop, are you really saving it to the CPU? There is a problem with my monitor at work, and I have a lot of documents on my desktop. I don’t want to lose them when they install the new monitor tomorrow. Common sense tells me that my desktop items will appear on the new monitor. Still, I need an expert opinion for reassurance.

  • The Silver Bridge?

I am looking for a reasonably priced copy of The Silver Bridge by Gray Barker. I have an interest in the topic, but I have only been able to obtain this particular book via interlibrary loan.

  • Where can I find a Tiller on a Stick?

Ten or 15 years ago I purchased a tool that I can only describe as a Tiller on a Stick. It had a handle like a hoe or a rake, but the tool was comprised of three (maybe 4) rows of sharp spine-like blades that tilled up the soil. This tool was great for cultivating small areas, like the border of a driveway.

I cannot remember what the tool is called, so my Internet searches have proven unfruitful. I have not found it in my local hardware stores, Lowes, or Home Depot.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

  • Has anyone had a positive Banner experience?

My university is currently migrating to Banner, and sometimes it seems like we have stepped back in time 50 years. Instead of better, faster, and easier, every task seems to take twice (at least) as long, and sometimes the "rules" change on a daily basis.

For those who have been involved in a Banner "makeover," was the transition difficult for you? Does it get better? If so, WHEN????

  • How does a professional woman with an education meet a down to earth "normal" man?

I am a professional in higher education, but the "real" me is just a country gal with a degree. I like to fish, roam in the woods, and read. If I was not a slave to plumbing, I think I could live in a tent in the woods. I am not into wasting money on movies or dinner. A quiet movie at home (with a cheap cold beer) is much less expensive than wasting money on a movie and meal. I know how to cook, and I have a great collection of movies.

All my friends want to fix me up with professionals in my field, but these men are almost always stuffy and only interested in discussing our profession. My job is just a job. It is not my life.

Please don't tell me to go to a bar. Been there. Done that. Bought that T-shirt.

I just want to meet a fella who is not intimidated by my degree and doesn't mind getting a little dirt under his fingernails.

I am 46, and still looking for the White Knight or the white picket fence. I'd settle for a 4 wheeler or a john boat! : )

  • Will Michael and Walt really escape on the boat the Others provided at the end of Lost: Season 2?

    Hello Losties!

What do you think is in store for the next season of Lost? Will Michael and Walt go home, or is the boat sabatoged? Will Sawyer and Jack save the day, or will Locke have to rescue them?
