  • This in regards to my last question - car related issue with low oil?

Please view my previous question "car related issue with low oil" that I posted today to understand what the problem is so I dont have to repost. Basically what I want to know is, does a car's onboard computer sense that there is too little or too much oil and simply stop the car from starting to prevent any damage? I have an '02 Pontiac grand am, 4 cyl, note also the car was inspected a few months ago and the fuel pump is about a year old and I do here humming when I try to start it so I know the fuel line is working okay. No smoke coming from the exhause. no smells. Im thinking this is probably a computer thing but I just wanted to know if the computer simply prevents ignition after sensing too little/too much oil?

  • Car related issue with low oil...?

Okay, so I got an oil change a month ago on my '02 Pontiac grand am (4 cylinder). Its only been like 4 or 5 weeks and the car was running great when I parked it 24 hours ago. I came out about 5 hours later and I tried to start it. It refused to start. The battery and starter are perfectly fine. So I checked the oil and it was a little below the "low" line. There was maybe a quart in the engine so I put 2 more quarts in til I was up to the full line. The starter turn continuously but the engine still doesnt start...

Please note the engine was not making any knocking, banging, overheating, or any other signs of a bad bearing, dropping a rod, or any other major problems when I parked it. Even on low oil it was still running smooth. I called my mechanic and he said he doubts there is major damage because the cengine would definetely have began having major failures well before I even parked it. The oil light wasnt even on in my car. H etold me so long as there was a little oil in the engine and there was no outright failures while driving that I should be okay...

So my question is, if thats the case, than whats wrong? Theres a quarter tank of gas and the fuel line is good. The starter can turn as often as I want but I only did that when I filled up with more oil. So then is it something perhaps with the oil pump? Or what else? There are no metallic sounds either when I try to start the car, it just wont start. Thanks (sorry for the question being so long)...

FYI, I know it is obvious my car is either leaking oil or burning it up rapidly. Car has 183K on it but it always runs great and is taken care of...

  • I am filing for a Provisional Patent very shortly and have a few questions?

I am going to file a Provisional Patent very shortly due to the low cost until I can file a Utility Patent but I have a few questions.

1.) What kind of requirements do I need to file a Provisional Patent as far as drawings and documents go? (i.e. cover letters, etc.) as well as anything else the Patent Office will require?

2.) What kind of forms do I need to fill out and is there any website that I can print all of them out from? I'd appreciate a link, I can't seem to find them on the Govvernment's Patent Office website.

3.) I heard the filing fee is $110 for a small entity. Is that still the case?

4.) Are patent attorneys/agents a waste of money? I have heard this and my idea isn't too complicated and I've seen on several websites that their fees easily run into the thousands (money I simply do not have). I think if the idea is as simple as mine that I shouldn't need a professional but I'm just asking for opinions on this question...

Thank you! I appreaciate any help!

  • Water powered cars - why arn't we using them?

I was reading on some website that cars can run on water. Apparently the technology has been around for decades. Filling a tank with water and running electric current through the water, causing hydrogen to be seperated from oxygen and used as the fuel source. This is literally a trillion dollar idea and I dont know why the inventors are not billionaires. Why doesnt the Department of Energy see the potential of this technology. Ive read about inventors actually being threatened when they try to bring this technology to the market? Do you think big oil is suppressing the very technology that could free us almost completely from "oil addiction"? Why doesnt our Govt finally endorse this considering they are always talking about "green energy"?

  • Dieting on 1200 - 1250 calories per day. Is my weight loss to rapid?

Im a 26 year old male. Im 6 feet tall and I'm an office worker so I guess Im lightly active. Since New Year's Day Ive been eating exactly 1,200 - 1,250 calories per day and its all frozen or prepackaged food. I dont feel deprived or anything because I break it into three or four small meals per day. I have gone from 210 to 175, a loss of 35 pounds in 2 months. My doctor said I did a good job but is this dangerous? My goal weight is 140 or 150. The low end of the spectrum for a six foot tall man. I dont feel weak or light headed but the weight continues to drop rapidly. Can my body handle this for say 6 months?

  • What is your favorite microbrewed beer and why?

I've had maybe 6 kinds in my life - "Dead Guy Ale" by Oregon's Rogue Brewery, a variety pack from Vermont's Rock Art Brewery, and almost every beer that Sam Adams creates as well as Anchor Steam and Yuengling. Ive also had the super strong beers of Dogfish Head. I want to buy different kinds in the future and want to know what everyone else thinks is a good microbrew. Price does not matter Im willing to pay a premium for the good stuff...thanks

  • Computer speaker's audio jack is damaged...?

Heres the problem and actually I have 2 questions in regards to this. I purchased a new set of computer speakers. I installed everything and plugged the jack into the back of the tower in the little circular green port. Everything worked fine. Problem is I moved the compuiter and the jack accidently broke off while it was still plugged into the back and now the tip of the jack is lodged inside the green port. You plug it in and of course no sound comes out of the speakers because the tip is broken off so here are my questions and I DONT have the money to get it fixed by a pro and I definetely dont want to have to buy new speakers.

1.) The tip is tiny and so is the port. How can I get it out? I was thinking of using a paper clip or the like (when the comp is off of course) but any other suggestions?

2.) Once I remove the tip from the port is it possible to perhaps super glue it back onto the jack and have it work again? Is there any way I can reaatach the tip and repair this myself. The jack does not come off from the speakers unfortunetely so I canot just go out and buy a new jack/cable.

  • HP Printer Problem...?

I have a 5 year old HP PSC-1510 all in one printer scanner copier. The cradle that holds the ink and moves back and forth can no longer seem to move. I get an error message that says it cannot move although when I start the printer it moves back and forth. All ink cartridges are installed properly and there are no obstructions. I turn the device on and off and it still doesnt work. Typical garbage. How can I fix this?

  • Question about SSI and Welfare Benefits?

I have a question regarding my benefits. I am expecting about $60,000 from a real estate deal and I know I will no longer qualify for Welfare/Medicaid/SSI which I all receive once I get this money. I receive welfare/"cash assistance" in Northampton County, Pennsylvania and SSI/Medicaid from the US Gov't. My question is do I have to pay back all of the benefits I have received from the considerable amount of money I make from this deal or am I under no obligation to repay?

  • Is it possible to sell a Provisional Patent?

I know its of course not the same as an issued patent but is it possible to sell an idea with only a U.S. Provisional patent application submitted? I understand it protects an idea for a year.

  • What are the effects of water pressure on a human body in extremely deep water?

Ive heard the deepest dive without a submersible or hardsuit was over 1,700 feet down and the deepest chamber dive was some 2,300 feet. Ive heard a body cannot crush under water pressure because we are mostly water to begin with but what would theoretically happen to a human body at 10,000 or 15,000 feet down if a submersible burst or something?

  • Very important mental illness question...?

I have been seeing a therapist once a week for the past 10 months and have been prescribed a number of antipsychotics and antidepressants all to no avail. I have been hospitalized in June for my mental illness. Ive been told I have bipolar disorder, intermittent explosive disorder, and possibly psychosis but Im not sure if the diagnoses are correct. I lost my job about a year ago and have been unable to find work which only intensified my illness, I suffer from VERY severe racing thoughts, conversations and dialogue in my head, random unrelated images, loss of memory, I'll often forget what to say in a middle of a setence, sentences or phrases/dialogue that make no sense that just pop into my head, and a sense of panic/anxiety that lasts all day. I also get angry at very little things very easy with upsets me even more. It is very hellish going through this and my therapy just isnt helping. Does anybody else have this? What am i suffering from?? Is my mind just bored from being out of work so long? Im really at the end of my rope...thanks

  • Who is the most interesting serial killer to you and why?

I've always been fascinated by Jeffery Dahmer and Ted Bundy for how calm and "normal" they seemed, despite torturing and killing nearly 60 people between the two of them, of course Dahmer was far more violent. What serial killer interests you the most and why?

  • Is the U.S. Government bankrupt?

When you consider how much the Government collects in taxes as oppossed to what they spend, 805 billion dollars in debt to the Chinese, and something on the order of SIXTY TRILLION dollars in obligations such as Social Security, etc. over the coming decades, it seems our country in general is headed towards Second World status. We can barely fund our military and increasingly cannot fund social services and simply print more money to "fix" our problems, which does explain why the US Dollar is increasingly worthless. How long do you think it will be until the total financial collapse of the United States. considering we are now where the Roman Empire was in the year 350.
