  • Are elected officals really this dumb?

Case in point, before the election, a candidate for US senate (in this case republican) Slammed his opponent for voting for "government run health care" yet in the same add, that candidate said he would "protect Medicare" um.. last time I checked Medicare is a "government run health care plan..." How can someone be both for a government run healthcare plan and against a government run health care plan?

  • How exactly are the new "elects" going to "create jobs"?

During the campaign, I kept hearing, on both sides, that they are going to "create jobs" or "promote job growth" Yet I've seen no data that proves that reducing taxes or cutting spending creates jobs, nor have I seen data that increased public spending creates long term, independent economic growth. It seems that people forget that water seeks its own level and in reality, there is very little a government can do in the short term (2 - 4 years) that can actually make the economy grow.

  • What is the draw of the movie "The Good, The Bad, And the Ugly"?

Every time I watch it (I have no idea but I almost always watch it when its on) I keep thinking, "wow, this movie is cheesy as hell, the music is annoying and the acting is terrible" I mean really its basically a big budget "B" movie with bad dubbing over the italian actors. The last gunfight stand off take 10 minutes more than it should while you listen to that horrible over-vibrato trumpet. But yet I still always watch it when its on why do I make myself suffer so?

  • Python mySQL, AIR SQLite, .NET SQL Express, which to choose?

I'm looking into building light, stand alone Database front end app that will be fully deploy-able as single install. The content will be mostly textual but also some moderate graphics (mostly equipment still shots, not user defined, but informational)

My programming background is mostly .NET, VB, HTML, XML Java etc. I'm very comfortable with ADO.NET but also very proficient in SQL. Mostly I'm doing this job as a way to expand my knowledge base. I find the .NET / SQL solutions to be.. less than desirable. Perhaps a JavaFX solution?

What suggestions / pointers do you all have?

This is pretty much greenfield territory for me so other than my slight bias against .NET, I'm open.

  • Did fail out of power because they are Hypocritical?

    For example.

    -- BILL O'REILLY March 29, 2007 --

"But this hate stuff, this rooting for the administration to fail in Iraq and other areas is un-American, unbecoming, and unacceptable. Like him or not, Mr. Bush is the elected leader of this country"

    - Rush Limbaugh -

"I don't care what the Drive-By story is. I would be honored if the Drive-By Media headlined me all day long: "Limbaugh: I Hope Obama Fails." Somebody's gotta say it. "

Hmm... seems the conservatives need to get their view straight if they hope to get back in power someday.

  • Publication of Rihanna's assault picture. Shame on you TMZ.?

Who else is appalled that TMZ posted a picture of Rihanna that was obviously taken during the investigation of her "alleged" assault. Do they not realize the damage this does? Its things like this that keep many victims of domestic violence from reporting their abuse and seeking help. They have no decency at all in my opinion. I think their editor should spend some quality time with Chris Brown and see what a good a** beating feels like.

I'm not even going to post the link because I don't want to draw anymore hits to their site.

  • I was given a bottle of 120 year old Tequila?

It was given to me as a gift, I'd feel bad opening it because is like liquid history! Plus I was told its valued around $400. I'm torn, do i open it and try it out? And no, I'm not sending it to any of you :)

  • If conservatives are for small government....?

Then why are they for a big military? Every person in the military is a government employee. If you increase the military, you increase the size of the government, and your also promoting socialism. Using tax payer money to pay government employees, and using tax payer money to buy weapons support a defense industry (again socialism) Explain the difference?

  • Why are people so afraid of closing Gitmo?

Come on, are terrorists really going to try to "bust out" their compatriots, they don't even do it when the prison's in their own countries!

Hell, they can house them in the local county jail for all I care.

This really has to be the most stupid argument I've ever heard for shutting down Gitmo.

  • Would Universal Health Care help save the american auto industry?

I hear a lot of complaints about mismanagment of the american auto industry, however I believe that they were making exactly what americans wanted, large cars and were making a good profit out of it. Toyota makes large SUV's and trucks too. So why are they (Toyota and other) doing relatively fine when american car companies are not?

Legacy costs. Japan has universal health care. And their "transplant" factories in america, do not have pensions. So they are not shackled with the legacy costs that the US automakers are with UAW contracts and pensions. A huge portion of the legacy costs are attributed to health insurance. If they were able to get ride of the health care costs due to a universal system. Would that not greatly help their bottom line?

  • If Time travel is possible?

If time travel was possible, and you went back say to yesterday, and met yourself, how could that account for the conservation of mass? You would replicate your matter at the same point in time? If you didn't travel back forward from that point on, there would be two of you. You would be creating matter out of nothing.

  • Does this seem a little like 1972 -76 all over again to anybody?
