  • function word problem question?

    h(t) = c - (d - 4t)^2

At time t = 0, a ball was thrown upward from an initial height of 6 feet. Until the ball hit the ground, its height, in feet, after t seconds was given by the function h above, in which c and d are positive constants. If the ball reached its maximum height of 106 feet at time t = 2.5, what was the height, in feet, of the ball at time t=1?

Answer is 70, but how would i get to this?

  • Proportion question??

If a,b,c, and f are four nonzero numbers, then all of the following proportions are equivalent EXCEPT

    a) a/f = b/c

    b) f/c = b/a

    c) c/a = f/b

    d) a/c = b/f

    e) af/bc = 1/1

    the answer is a) a/f = b/c

my question is how would i get to finding that answer?

  • Scatterplot function problem?

    http://i39.tinypic.com/3yflu.jpg <---the figure

    1. Doug's biology experiment involved timing 12 hamsters in a maze. Each hamster received at least one practice before being timed. The scatterplot above shows the time each hamster took to complete the maze and the corresponding number of practices that each hamster received. Based on the data, which of the following functions best models the relationship between t, the number of seconds to complete the maze and p, the number of practices?

    a) t(p) = 44

    b) t(p) = p

    c) t(p) = 44p

    d) t(p) = p/44

    e) t(p) = p + 44

the answer given is A [t(p)=44], how would i get to that answer?

  • Product of three consecutive integers............?

If the product of three consecutive integers written in increasing order equals the middle integer, what is the least of the three integers?

apparently the answer is -1, but i dont get how i would get that answer

    what i did is:

    x(x+1)(x+2)=(x+1)

    [x(x+1)(x+2)/(x+1)]=(x+1)/(x+1)

    x(x+2)=1

    x^2+2x=1

    x^2+2x-1=0

then i cant get how i would get -1

im probably doing it wrong, so any help?
