How to get over the disappointment?
I'm graduating with my Master's in Education at the end of April. I've worked really hard for this and am so excited that it's finally here. I've known the graduation date since January and my parents and my grandma said they were going to the ceremony.
Today, my aunt called to tell everyone that my cousin's communion is... you guessed it, the same day as my graduation. Now my parents and grandma are going to that instead. The cousin who is making his communion lives in another state, so they will have to travel to attend it. It also means there's really no way they could attend both. I understand that a communion is a big deal, but so it a graduation... right? I'm really hurt and disappointed and they don't understand why. My mom says I am overreacting.
I know I can't change anything and I don't even want to bring it up to my parents and/ or grandma because they always kind of turn things back on me and tell me I am being too emotional. So, my question is... how can I stop feeling so disappointed? I'm really, really feeling sad about this.
