NO ANSWERS RE-POST: When you got your membrane sweep, like this TMI?
So I had my 3rd sweep today (I'm a week overdue).
1St (10 days ago-2cm dialatedmembrane sweep, like this TMI?)- Dr had a hard time reaching -lost my plug 2 days later and been losing it ever since. No spotting or bloody show.
2nd (4 days ago-2/3cm dialated)- easier to reach but still high, had spotting when she did it, nothing after, just cramping.
3rd (today-4 hours ago- 3 1/2cm dialated) still hard time reaching but as she did the sweep got menstral like bleeding and lots of 'mucus' as she said. Still spotting not heavy.
Now I'm having cramping and contractions lasting 30-45 sec every 4-8 minutes but they're not unbearable.
So my question:
When you got your sweep(s) did you bleed like this and go into labor or do you think my cervix is just irritated from so many sweeps? When a membrane sweep is done, does it make a difference if you bleed or not (the Dr seemed pleased to have such show)? This wouldn't count as my 'bloody show' would it?
Thanks!

4 AnswersNewborn & Baby10 years agoWhat makes sweeping your membranes work? (If it does). ?
I have a Dr appt. in 1 hour and she is going to strip my membranes. I had them stripped last week also at 39 +4 now I'm 40 +2... what causes contractions and labor to start? I know what it is (seperating/Loosening your sack from your cervix)... after having it done last week I lost my mucus plug on Monday & Tuesday (2 & 3 days later) no bleeding or spotting. Is the sweep done just to make you dialate more? Did it work for you?... of course I'll ask at the appt... just curious while I wait.
THANKS!
1 AnswerPregnancy10 years ago40 weeks lost mucus plug 3 hrs ago... no change in contraction?...?
So I'm 40 weeks tomorrow and today I lost my full mucus plug, don't they say labor usually starts within 24 hours since I'm now due? I lost bits and pieces at 37 weeks but I know the plug can rebuild itself... but now that I'm 40 weeks I doubt that will happen right? There was no blood or streaks in the plug... just mucus. At full term when you lost your plug, how long until your labor started? And do I HAVE to have bloody show also? I've been having cramping and braxton hicks (nothing new though)... THANKS!

Don't they say being full term and losing your mucus plug labor usually starts within 24 hours? I know it can rebuild itself but I doubt that will happen being 40 weeks tomorrow.... right? I lost a few pieces here and there at 37 weeks, but about 3 hours ago I lost the whole thing at once. A little bit of of cramping now with braxton hicks (which is not new). There was no blood when I lost the plug... do I still have to have bloody show? Being full term after you lost your plug how long until your labor started?
THANKS!
6 AnswersPregnancy10 years agoRE-POST: Got no answers earlier: **39 weeks pregnant - cold/flu like symptoms, is it true what they say?**?
Ok, it not like I'm worried or asking "Am I going into labor soon? Or when will my baby be born?" I know I won't be pregnant forever-
I was just talking to a friend, complaining that I think I'm starting to get allergies (Never had problems before) Coughing/sneezing, headache, congested nose/chest...
And her answer was "you're going to have your baby soon!" Well duh I thought... I'm 39 weeks pregnant. Then she said women get flu/cold symptoms as labor will start...
So?... Is there truth to that saying? I googled it and it did pull info saying yes...
The more I thought about it the more curious I got because with my 1st I had Coughing and congestion also (maybe a coincidence is all)?
My second I was induced... so no labor symptoms at all before hand...
So? Is it craziness? Has my friend lost her mind? Or was it true in your case?
3 AnswersPregnancy10 years agoUninvolved father during pregnancy... Do guys seem to come around after finally seeing their baby?
So my ex and I planned this pregnancy. When I was 6 months pregnant he decided he wanted to live his old bachelor life... so I asked him to leave. Since I'm not the type of woman to sit around at home waiting on a man that's out with his new girlfriends and partying every night.
We're still in contact and I see him almost everyday. I am trying to be very understanding that he can lead the life he wishes.
What worries me is the little that he seems to care about the pregnancy... he never asks how we're doing or how I'm feeling... if he stays involved I know he'll be great father. Only if he gives fatherhood a chance.
So my question is, did the birth of the/your baby bring the father to his senses and he realized after seeing the baby and started to man up? I'm 39+ weeks now and starting to worry, I really don't want my son to be without his father like I was without mine!
I just want to be able for my son to depend on his dad... but I really don't know if the fathers get the "connection" after seeing their baby... different from the women that feel connected for months since we are actually carrying the baby...

3 AnswersPregnancy10 years agoPlus size women- were your babies big at birth?
So I've always been plus size- this pregnancy I've gained only 5 lbs (37 w 4 days).
My 1st I gained -28 lbs -girl 8 lbs 5 oz
My 2nd I gained -35 lbs -girl almost 10 lbs
So far this time only -5 lbs -boy (estimated ultra sound weight now at 37.4 weeks 7 lbs 8 oz)
So if your weight pre pregnancy was above average were your babies big at birth? Even if you didn't gain that much weight during pregnancy? Did they get bigger each time?

5 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoHow accurate was your Ultrasound predicting baby's weight at 37/38 weeks?
My midwife sent me for an ultra sound today during my apt today because she was "concerned" about the weight (measuring 41 weeks at 37+4 weeks) & position of the baby (breech).
Well the baby's not breech like she thought he may be and estimated weight is about 7 lbs 8 oz (I am 37 weeks 4 days) so the weight is on the 'higher' side.
I know the US is not the most accurate thing this late in pregnancy so I thought I'd check for 1st hand experience-
So...
1. How accurate was your baby's estimated weight this far along?
2. If your baby was around 7 1/2 pounds at 37 1/2 weeks how much was the birth weight?
After the tech finished the ultra sound I was sent home and will not be able to ask my midwife until next week...
Thanks for your experience!

7 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoDid you have your membranes stripped? How many weeks do I have to be to get my membranes stripped? 37 weeks +?
How many weeks do I have to be to request a Stripping of membranes? 37 weeks +?
I know once you start to dilate your membranes can be stripped.... but if requested, when will the Midwife do it? (I don't think my midwife "wants" to do this)...
Anytime past "full term" 37 weeks?...(as long as you're dilated)
My midwife doesn't even do a vaginal exam until 38 weeks (which I thought was late in pregnancy).
This is my 1st midwife, my other 2 pregnancies were OB/GYN...
My OB did it with my first 2 pregnancies (it didn't work with the first, but did with my second).
If it was requested, when could I request it and could the midwife say no? Even if I did wait till my due date?

3 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoMyth or truth? BOY vs.GIRL... and their due dates?
I keep hearing that boys come usually before their due dates, and girls tend to be after...
Do you think this was true in your case? (Of course I know boys can arrive after their DD)
The 'myths' you hear about carrying a boy lower and girl higher (think that has something to due with it)? -IDK if there is any truth to that saying...
I have 2 girls:
1st born at 42 weeks
2nd born at 40 +4 (induced)
3rd currently 36 +4 (with boy)
So do you think it's true also? In your experience?... Something to do with boys carrying lower?... or just a myth and no difference between boys/girls due dates?
10 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoHow many weeks were you when you went into labor? 1st, 2nd, 3rd ect. baby- boy or girl?
42 weeks with my first....
