  • were your early contractions (stage one labor) painful? or just uncomfortable?

i am pretty sure i have started stage 1 labor, except the tensing feeling across my abdomin us not as painful as i envisioned it would be. i have been so anxious for labor to start i am not sure if it is in my head or not. the conrtactions are still 10min. apart having started around 2am and felt like mild to moderate cramps. i haven't had any loose stool or bloody discharge, but i have had nausea/vomiting. does this sound like early labor? or false labor again?

  • irrational emotions? did this happen to you?

irrational emotions? did this happen to you?

i am 38 weeks pregnant with my first child. throughout most of the pregnancy i have had a pretty even temperament. only one big panic attack, and that was a kinda understandable event. i have tried really hard not to be the pain in the *** overly emotional irrational pregnant woman who constantly talks about being pregnant and for the most part my husband tells me it's been a pretty pleasant experience. until now. the last few days i have found myself depressed for no reason. i started crying about my body image, and having massive anxiety issues out of no where. i know i have everything ready for my baby. finances, equipment, i have a support system in place and ready to go. but i can't help freaking out! has anyone else had these kind of emotional issues at the end, of their pregnancy's? do you think there may be more to this than hormones?

  • My husband is disinterested in sex now that i'm full term :-(?

i understand where my husband is coming from. i am 38 weeks pregnant. it's awkward trying to have sex over the beach ball on my abdomen. i think he's got concerns about the baby's safety (even though the doctor has told him multiple times sex is a good thing) and i think he is a bit uncomfortable about my leaking boobs since he is a boob man. i am trying not to take it personal. he is good to me in every other way. He spends allot of time with me, holds my hand, snuggles with, spoils me, etc. but is just not sexually attracted to me right now. any suggestions for how i can get through this with my emotions in-tact.?

  • important info re: infantino brand slings!!!?

(CBS) The popularity of baby slings has been on the rise over the past four years.

But, reports "Early Show" Consumer Correspondent Susan Koeppen, the Consumer Product Safety Commission says two slings are considered so dangerous they're being pulled from the market, and parents are being told to stop using them.

Earlier this month, "The Early Show" broke the news that federal regulators were warning of possible suffocation hazards posed by baby slings -- which parents put around their necks and carry their babies in.

Now, the CPSC has announced the voluntary recall of one million slings made by Infantino.

The Sling Rider and the Wendy Bellissimo are being pulled because they pose a suffocation risk, Koeppen says.

Asked by Koeppen how quickly a child could suffocate in "one these slings," CPSC Chairman Inez Tenenbaum responded, "In a matter of minutes."

Tenenbaum says three children died in Infantino slings last year alone.

"You might have your baby in a sling next to you and not notice that the baby has gone into (a) position (in which he or she) cannot breathe" until it's too late, Tenenbaum added.

That, notes Koeppen, is exactly what happened to seven-day-old Derrik Fowler during a shopping trip with his mother, Lisa Cochran.

She'd been carrying her newborn in a sling made by Infantino. "By the time I got to the car and pulled him out of the sling to put him in his car seat, he was no longer of normal color," Cochran recalls.

Infants younger than four months are at greatest risk in slings, Koeppen points out, because their weak neck muscles mean they have no head control. An infant can curl into a "C"-shape, with the chin falling into the chest -- restricting the baby's airway.

There are no federal or voluntary safety standards for infant slings.

In a statement, Infantino says, "Safety is our No. 1 concern," adding it "has also been working closely with the CPSC and other agencies … to develop safety standards for baby slings."

But, observes Koeppen, that's of little consolation to mothers such as Cochran, who says, "As a first-time mom, I had no clue I could walk into a store and pick something off the shelf that wasn't safe."

Consumers are being advised to stop using the recalled Infantino baby slings immediately and contact the company for a free replacement product.

To get it, take the tags off your recalled sling and send the tags to Infantiono, Koeppen says, adding, "There are three different products that you could get in return. You have a choice. There is a shopping cart carrier. There is a different type of baby carrier. There's also an activity gym that you can receive for free."

As for baby slings not included in the recall, Koeppen repeated parent sholdn't use them if their infant is less than four months old.

The CPSC, Koeppen says, is also looking at all baby slings, investigating them -- the ones that are on the market currently -- and will be working toward mandatory federal safety standards.

  • question about contractions? has anyone else had this experience?

i am 37 weeks today with my first child. i noticed today while i was at the market that i was having what i think was a braxton-hicks contraction....except that it lasted for a very long time. all afternoon and evening i have noticed that when i am standing the contraction returns almost immediately, but when i sit down again it stops. it's not painful per-say but it is kinda achy. i doesn't have a rhythm, i have had no bleeding, no flu-like symptoms or other signs of labor that i can identify. has anyone else had this experience? should i Wait it out a bit longer? or go ahead and call my OB?

  • Anyone else pregnant, and own a dog? or recently had a child and owns a dog? how did you introduce the two?

any sugestions on how to get your dog used to a baby before you bring the baby home? i have a begal mix, a really loving dog... but he is a dog, and i'm concerned how he will ajust to the new member of the "pack" i want to make the traansition as easy as possible.

just a side note- jack has been around kids alot, and little babys occasionaly babys before, he smells them and quickly looses interest, or with toddlers will follow them from a distance with couriosity. i know to NEVER trust a dog alone with a child so that is a non-issue he will always be supervised.

  • I think my husband is a bit silly? anyone have a similar experience?

my husband is a big tough "mans-man" kinda guy. i"m 28 weeks pregnant and deliriously happily married for the last 3 1/2 years. we successfully conceived after a year and a half of aggressive trying. :-))

my husband has never really spent time around a pregnant woman or a baby before, and has always been kinda unengaged about the details.

as a joke i got him a book called The Baby Owners Manual.it sits by his side of the bed and i'm sure he's hiding the fact that he's reading it. the other night he thought i was sleeping and i caught him rubbing my belly. i also noticed him checking out the nursery more. i think he's kinda embarrassed. i don't want to embarrass him more and have him stop. should i even say anything? or just enjoy it and let him be? i think it's totally cute!! (and kinda a turn-on)

anyone else have a similar experience with their spouse's?
