I was thinking about Halloween and pumpkin carving, and it occurred to me that I have never been told why Jack-O-Lanterns are called Jack-O-Lanterns. Why weren't they named Bob-O-Lanterns, or Mary-O-Lanterns? Does anyone have an answer or guess to this question?

I am doing an Earth Science project and I need to understand how to use a geologic time scale. I think I understand the era, system & period, series & epoch columns, but I don't understand the Years Before Present column. What does ( as an example) 280 + 10 million mean??

I need a two week workout that I can do to get in shape for pre-season field hockey. I am going into 9th grade this year so I will probably be on JV. I have been running off and on this summer and I have been doing crunches and pushups and stuff like that. But I need to start getting ready for pre-season. The only thing that I NEED to be able to do is run two miles in 16 minutes or less. I would appreciate any workouts that you guys or gals have to offer. Thanx!

If you swallow a bunch of snow and you can't breath, are you choking or drowning? I'm not really sure, but this question came up in Science before the end of school and my teacher didn't know the answer. I think it would be choking, but I'm not sure.

What do you think about the fact that Taylor Lautner ad Selena Gomez are dating? Personally, I think that Taylor could do WAY better than Selena. Selena is a Disney 'actress' who thinks that she can sing but she really can't. I do like her hair though... But that's just what I think. WHAT DO YOU THINK????
