  • Is snorting common in Pomeranians?

I have a 1yr old pom. He goes into snorting fits everyday. It happens when he gets overly excited( when we first wake up in the am, when I come home from work etc). He still runs n jumps around and seems to breathe fine when this happens. I pick him up rub his chest and it goes away. The vet said its most likely allergies. Hes on meds for it but it doesnt help. I have another pom that never goes into snorting fits. Is this common or should i get a second opinion from a diff vet?

  • Finding good forever homes for puppies?

We adopted a border collie a few months ago from the local pound. We was told she was an owner surrender and was spayed and UTD on shots. Well in the beginning of August we had her on the tie out to use the bathroom and found our neighbors male dog locked with her.( We did take her to the vet prior to this for a check up and he had agreed that she had been spayed. Well obviously that wasn't the case) The vet said it was more than likely a "botched" spay and with her being border collie she prob went into a silent heat and thats how we didn't know she was in heat. Long story short we are now expecting 7-10 puppies in a week and we want to make sure they go to good forever homes. Any suggestions on weeding out the bad pet owners? ( also she WILL be spayed for sure after the pups get done nursing, she has been to vet visits while pregnant and the pups will be seen by the vet after they're born and also to get their shots and dewormed. We won't be finding them homes until they're at least 8 weeks old.)

  • How to make my dog get along with my fiances dog?

I have a 3yr old chocolate lab that has issues with my fiances corgi. They're both neutered males, they're ok with other ppls dogs (males included) but they don't like each other. My fiance and I recently moved in together and my lab is currently at my parents house. But I want him here with me, he's my baby and I've had him ever since he was born. We have introduced them before and it resulted in snarling and growling, which my lab started every time, he was ok with the corgi until he came towards me then my lab got an attitude. My fiance says to just bring my lab here and they will learn to get along, I'm just afraid one of them is going to get seriously hurt. Any suggestions on how to have them at least tolerate each other?

  • I have a puppy that needs to gain weight....?

I have a 6 1/2 month old chow/ border collie mix that needs to gain weight. I feed her high protein food 3x a day and extra treats but she still has a sunken in look to her belly. The vet said she is healthy and she looks and acts healthy ( shiny, soft fur and bright eyes). But I don't like her being so skinny. I get weight on her, then she has another growth spurt and goes back to being super skinny again. She is very energetic, I walk her 2x a day and she plays non stop with our other 2 dogs. I am saving to get her spayed ( the vet said that will help with weight gain and energy level). I don't know if this matters or not, but she was malnourished when we adopted her 4 months ago, you could feel her hip bones and rib bones and her coat was dull and rough feeling. But does anyone have advice on how to help pack some weight onto her?

  • Reoccurring yeast infection in dogs ears....?

I have a border collie mix and she has a pretty consistent yeast infection in both ears. (She favors the border collie side, so she has the really furry, floppy ears.) Shes 2 years old and this has been going on for almost a year now. I have taken her to the vet for this numerous times, spent hundreds of dollars on antibiotics, "home remedies", different foods and treats (the vet said she may have too much grains in her food and treats, which could be causing the yeast infections). and nothing seems to work. She still digs and digs at her ears and they are very dry and cracked.

I'm at a loss as to what else to do and i don't like seeing her in discomfort. The vet just keeps prescribing the drops and antibiotics. If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.
