How far can I go when I start running again?
Stress reaction pain started in August, diagnosed the last week of September- doc said boot for 3 weeks (one week from today). Would I be ok to run a 10k the 24th of November?
2 AnswersRunning10 years agoRunning injury issues?
I'll try to make this brief, I started running cross country freshmen year fall 2008, had ITB issues that went away, 7:15-7:30s pace for the season. I rested winter, ran spring track and during the summer, no injuries in 2009. Started xc again in the fall, 7:00-sub pace. Ran indoor track, no spring track due to stress fracture, a little summer running, plantar fasciitis and achilles tendonosis through this 2010 xc season, 7:20- 7:30s pace
I'm getting really discouraged, I want to get faster and be able to do long runs but my injuries are holding me back. What do I do?
Running1 decade agoAchilles tendinitis remedies?
I just got Achilles tendinitis for the first time, I've been running cross country for 4 years now. I think it's because this past weekend I ran longer and faster than usual and so during my run Sunday it began to hurt. Monday I took the day off because I wanted to be fresh for my race Tuesday. It did the trick, Tuesday was completely pain-free. But today I went pretty long (not as long as the weekend) but equally fast and the pain sprang up again. What should I do to be able to race as soon as possible? I have an invitational Friday and a dual meet Tuesday.
3 AnswersRunning1 decade agoBinge eating and weight loss?
Spring 2009 my lowest weight was 107 lbs, then i had some relationship issues during the summer and i got up to like 117 by fall, then in winter 2009/2010 i got back down to 110 and then i started binge eating/crash dieting because of depression and i'm up to freakin 125. Can i expect to lose weight if i stop binge-eating? If so, how much?
2 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 decade agoHave you ever been afraid to run?
I've suffered through numerous injuries since the beginning of this year which sidelined me from running for 3 months, including ITB problems, plantar fasciitis, and a stress fracture in my metatarsal. I started running again about a month and a half ago, starting with .25 mile and increasing by that much each day, stopping if something hurt and taking rest days. Then I had a 7-mile race recently which went great and after that I've been running 3- 4.5 about 4 days a week with 3 days rest. But the past week, I've been feeling like something different hurts every day: knee, ankle, shin, arch, foot. Since I got injured I put calcium into my diet and have been running NOWHERE near the distances I used to, I've been doing everything right so I shouldn't be having pain. When I feel pain I take rest. I only ran once this week because I was afraid I'd get injured and just yesterday or the day before my foot started hurting where my stress fracture was. My mom's a doctor and when I tell her about the new injury I have every day, she tells me I'm obsessed. Could this be hypochondria and I'm just imagining everything? I have running camp in August and I'm top runner on my xc team, but I've gotten to the point where I'm scared to run!

2 AnswersMental Health1 decade agoObsessing over injuries?
Back in February I took a month off because of ITBS. In the beginning of April I was diagnosed with a stress fracture in my 3rd metatarsal in my foot and had to take another month off (I missed outdoor track season) and upped my calcium and vitamin D intake. Then I started running again with .25 mile, increasing by .25 miles a day as my doctor told me. I ended up at 5.5 miles and then rested a week, then had a 7-mile race, in which I ran very well. After that I took a few days off and started running 3 - 4.5 miles a day. However, it seems that every day I run, another part of me hurts: knees, ankles, shins, feet, you name it. Now none of these are serious pains and most go away by the next day, but I have a constant fear that what if my stress fracture comes back? Or what if get injured again and can't win the league title in xc this fall because of it? Having missed outdoor track and having had to start from near scratch, I am SOOOOOOOOOOOO paranoid about injuries. How far should I be running, and how can I increase my mileage without getting hurt?
1 AnswerRunning1 decade agoBrunette going blonde...?
My hair is naturally this color: http://www.texashomesteader.com/wp-content/uploads... but this summer I want to try blonde just for fun: http://www.sanctuaryhairfacebody.com/images/blonde... (lol @ the pic)
I'll probably end up going to a salon but are there any natural ways that won't turn your hair orange?
I've heard lemon juice, hydrogen peroxide, chamomile tea, cinnamon but I don't know how reliable these are.
Which of these, if any, will not turn hair orange?

2 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoMy skin is two different colors :(((?
I recently went on vacation and got sunburn, which ended up turning into a great tan. However, it started to peel in spots on my chest and the skin underneath is a pale color. I have patches of lighter skin in my tan. What can I do!? I tried exfoliating but it didn't help.
2 AnswersOther - Skin & Body1 decade agoWhat do I do for plantar fasciitis that won't go away?
I'm a track and cross country athlete. I've had plantar fasciitis for maybe a month and a half now. I ran on it before but I haven't run for three or four weeks now because of a stress fracture, for which I had to wear a boot on my foot. While wearing the boot my plantar fasciitis seemed to have gone away but now that I have the boot off it started to hurt again. How come it isn't healing?
1 AnswerRunning1 decade agoSwimming and period help?
I know this question has probably come up before... MANY times, but I just want to put my situation into perspective.
I'll be swimming a lot the next week, but I just got my period. Staying out of the water is NOT an option, I refuse.
I've tried tampons before once when I wanted to go swimming but it freakin HURRRTTT to take it out! At that point my flow either stopped in the water, or it wasn't heavy enough, idk. But I am NOT trying tampons again.
Out of personal experiences, does your period stop when you go swimming so that I won't have to wear a tampon?
8 AnswersWomen's Health1 decade agoFellow runners, helppp?
I fear I may have a stress fracture in my right foot and I'm going to have it checked out tomorrow. I'm a track (distance) and cross country athlete and I'm among the top female runners for both. If it IS a stress fracture, I think I'm gonna cry... Running is the only thing that keeps me sane. Without running I tend to overeat and build up stress and as a result, gain weight... a LOT of it.
So if, God forbid, that's what it is, what can I do to stay in the same shape as I am while running?
1 AnswerRunning1 decade agoHerniated disc, unimaginable pain. Please help?!?
I have a herniated disc in my lower back and it goes into my left buttock. I was laying down flooring and it began to hurt very badly. The next day the pain was gone. Then the day after I was shoveling and I must have done something to avoid hurting my back which ultimately was the worst thing I could do. I went to a chiropractor but it didn't help. At times I have such extreme pain I don't know what to do with myself, it is EXCRUCIATING to the nth power. I get into a rage and I swear for about 5 minutes straight. The looks on my family members' faces are unbearable when they see what the pain does to me. What do you recommend to make the pain go away?

I have the worst sweet tooth in the world. Once I start eating something sweet, I cannot stop. This is no exaggeration. I can eat until the cows come home. But not the lollipop/starburst/gummies type of sweets. The rich, decadent, dessert sweets. Like, I could eat a whole batch... or 2... of brownies, cookies, you name it. I could eat a whole pie- apple, pecan, blueberry...maybe even 2 pies. By myself. I could eat a whole cake- chocolate, vanilla, caramel, strawberry, whatever. By myself. The sight of sweets just sets my mouth watering. I was looking at this site to decide on a cake to make for my sister's birthday: http://www.countryliving.com/cooking/rec%E2%80%A6
I can't have any because I'm in Lent and I gave up all sweets. But when I look at the pictures, I can see myself eating a huge chunk of each and every single cake there and I would have no willpower against it. I feel absolutely HELPLESS against it. Like, if I go to a party and there are really good desserts, that's all I think about. And I just keep eating and eating and eating beyond quadruple-fullness because they're SOOOOOOOOOOOOO good. Is there any way to change this? I feel like a drug addict!
I know I seem like a horrible person. But I haven't always been like this. I mean, I'm not fat because I'm also a runner, but I need help with this before I develop diabetes or something.

3 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 decade agoWhats going on with my friend? Suicidal?
My friend has always liked guys.Haha she's a flirt. She's totally boy-crazy- she likes to make boys fall in love with her and she make girls jealous. But i fear she's incredibly insecure. She's gorgeous and smart and everything but she has really low self-esteem. Recently she's been acting really depressed. Her boyfriend of 9 months broke up with her and he led her on for about 5 months, she was totally in love with the guy and he hurt her, she thought he still liked her but turns out he just wanted to be friends. She's now found another guy and she really likes him and he's superrr cute ;) But she's acting weird lately, she isn't doing the things she loves/d to do, she was like, what if i'm not straight? i don't get it. she's grossed out by gay/lesbian stuff, she's homophobic, but she's afraid what if she turns homosexual. She said if she ever turned les she'd probably kill herself. She was born straight, but she's afraid she can turn not-straight and she's scared to death... literally. How do i help her get through this, what can i tell her?
