First name that sounds good with siblings?
I have two daughters named Avery Faith and Emerson Joy. I'm now having a third daughter. Any name suggestions? I also like the names Ella and Reina, but I want them all to sound good together because I really like the way Avery and Emerson sound. The middle name will be Hope. Any first name suggestions?
Thanks :)

6 AnswersBaby Names8 years agoDidn't sleep at all last night, should I take a nap today?
I didn't fall asleep at all last night. I went to bed at a normal time, I just never fell asleep. I haven't slept too well for the past week. My question is, should I take a nap today? I would like to get back to my normal sleep schedule after tonight, so should I take a nap, maybe a short one? Or just skip the nap and sleep tonight?
Thanks :)
1 AnswerOther - General Health Care8 years agoHelp with double loop combinations?
I have had all of my doubles (up to double lutz) consistent for over 2 years. I can do all double combinations with a double toe at the end, but I always have trouble with double loop combinations. Mainly double lutz-double loop and double flip-double loop. I'm fine with double salchow-double loop, though. I'm competing with two double-double loop combinations in a month. Any tips to help fix them?
Thanks!

3 AnswersIce Skating8 years agoHaven't slept in a week?
Typically, I fall asleep anywhere from 9:30-10:00 and wake up at 6:30. For the past three nights, I can't fall asleep no matter what I try. I haven't been falling asleep until 3, leaving only 3ish hours to sleep. I'm physically exhausted, but just lay there and never drift off to sleep. Any suggestions? I've tried Zzzquil, taking Magnesium, listening to soft music, counting backwards, etc.
3 AnswersOther - General Health Care8 years agoConstantly Popping My Jumps?
I've recently stopped jumping almost completely. I'll circle forever on jumps I've jad for years. It's really frustrating me. I won't even jump, I'll just turn around and keep circling. The only jumps I don't circle on are axel, double flip and double axel attempts. I'll circle for 5 minutes on double salchow, and probably 10 on every other jump. I know it's completely psychological, but I just can't seem to kick the habit and it's beginning to interfere with my lessons. Any tips on how to stop popping?
Thanks :)
5 AnswersIce Skating8 years agoChanging skating coaches- did we move too soon?
I started with a new coach in January after a forced break from skating. I was really happy and got all my jumps back in a matter of months. However, they refused to move forward past there. I was working on the exact same jumps and spins for 5 months and they wouldn't change anything. I went to a competition, and they gave me wrong spins (under IJS) so I didn't get any points. They have other students who got full credit (level 4's) so clearly they know how to do the spins and just didn't do mine. They seemed like they didn't care. They double booked my lesson all the time. They changed my lesson times every week without asking to accommodate others schedules. I've been frustrated with my skating for awhile now because I'm not working on anything. Then, this week they taught the girl who they gave my lesson time for the first ten minutes and told me to "just do doubles". My mom was furious that she was wasting money on this and consulted another coach on giving me lessons. He said yes, and my mom "fired" my current coach today by saying "Well your schedule seems a little busy, so we're going to try someone else for right now." He agreed, but I've been really upset about it. Did I make a mistake? Did I move too soon? Or do these reasons constitute a coaching change?
Thank you so much,
Lauren
3 AnswersIce Skating9 years agoDouble axel take-off?
I've been working on my double axel, and today on the harness my coach said I'm not pushing hard enough into it. He said I'm prepping the same way for a single. Does anyone have any advice for a double axel take-off?
Thanks! :)
3 AnswersIce Skating9 years agoMusic similar to On Golden Pond theme?
Does anyone know of any music similar to the "On Golden Pond" theme? I'm in love with this music and I'm wondering if there's anything like it. You can find it on YouTube. Search On Golden Pond and it comes up under the username kjbouck.
Thanks!

1 AnswerClassical9 years agoRefreshing piano music?
Does anyone here know of any light and refreshing piano music? I'm looking for something that's happy, but not like overly joful. A light (almost airy?) piece would be great. It has to be at least 2:30.
Thanks :)
4 AnswersClassical9 years agoMy coach and choreography?
Hi. I went to a competition a few weeks ago and came back with really low choreography scores. So did a lot of my coaches other students. I feel like they aren't really good choreographers. My next competition isn't until March, and I'm getting a new short and long, so I want to fix the choreography issue. I have a family friend who would willingly choregraph both of my programs, but she's a ballroom dancer. She said that she's watched skating, so she could probably coreograph it. Do you think this would work? Would she be able to choreograph it? Should I find another choreographer or talk to my coach AGAIN about how my choreography is lacking?
Thanks :)

3 AnswersIce Skating9 years agoPunching out my skates? ?
I just got my new skates Friday morning. They're pretty stiff, Riedell TS 875 (with Matrix Supreme Blades). I skated for 45 minutes, and in the beginning the arches of my feet hurt, but the pain went away soon. I had a lesson a few hours later, and I was landing all my doubles with no problems, but I got a blister on the inside arch of my right foot. When I skated Saturday morning, I felt pressure on that spot only, and I feel like the side of my foot is stepping on the leather. My left foot is fine. Should I get that spot punched out? Are there any other options? Should I wait another week to see how they feel?
Thanks :)
1 AnswerIce Skating9 years agoMusic for an Intermediate Short program?
I have to have music picked, approved, and cut by Monday for my coreography lesson. It has to be 2:30. It can be fast or slow, just no words. I already found one piece, just waiting on approval. What do you think of this music? Do you have any other suggestions? The suggestions don't have to be similar.
Thanks!

1 AnswerIce Skating9 years agoIs this normal behavior for my figure skating coach?
I started with a new coach at the end of January (next week will be 5 months since I started with him). He works really well with my technique and has fixed a bunch of my jumps and spins. He used to say hi to me everyday, but now he rarely does. He's never gotten mad at me in a lesson, so that can't be why. He usually talks to his other students outside of their lessons. He's only talked about testing and competitions once since I started with him, and that was in early April. I see him all the time too, I skate 4 hours a day, 5 days a week and 2 hours on Saturday. I also haven't progressed in a few weeks. I've been landing all of my doubles (with the exception of double axel) consistently for 4-5 weeks. He won't move on though. If we have extra time, he'll work on little things that don't require much attention. Is this normal behavior? I've always been really close to my coaches before him. Is he just more proffesional?
And I don't want to drop him as a coach either. He helps me with my skating, I just want to have a closer coach-student relationship where we don't act like strangers.
Thanks!

3 AnswersIce Skating9 years agoDouble Flip Problems?
Hi, I have all of my double jumps, including an inconsistent double axel and triple salchow, but I started having more trouble on my double flip. I'm almost sitting out of it. I've had this jump for a long time so it's really frustrating. I think it may be because of my skates. My dad didn't want to pay a lot for skates, so we bought Jackson Competitors with Aspire blades. Do you think the little support in the boots is causing the issue? So you have any tips for a double flip?
Thanks! (:
1 AnswerIce Skating9 years agoScared for a double loop jump?
I've been skating for 11 years (with a 2 1/2 year break for financial reasons) and I'm now having some issues with my double loop. Before I left, I was landing all of my jumps up to my triple salchow (inconsistently). Now, I have all my singles, and all of my doubles except for my double loop and my double axel. I even have the height and rotation for a triple salchow.
The problem is, I get so much height on my double loop that when I jump I hunch over and fall on the landing. I've had this jump since I was 10, and I can land it consistently when I go for it with less height. It doesn't look as nice though. So does anyone have any tips for not hunching over on my double loop? I usually hunch over right on take off.
Thanks!!

3 AnswersIce Skating9 years agoMiddle name for Emerson (girl)?
Hi, just to add, I'm not pregnant, just looking at names, haha.
Here are the options I was looking ate
Emerson Rose
Emerson Claire
Emerson Skye
I was set on Emerson Rose, but have had some doubts. Also, do you have any other suggestions for middle names?
P.S. I know there are lots of people who HATE the name Emerson for a girl. I love this name on a girl, and feel with the right middle name (very girly), it could be really pretty. Especially with the nickname's Em, Emmie, Emma, Emery, etc.
Thanks for helping in advance!
