  • Name of an Old B&W Sci Fi Movie please?

    Back in the early to mid 1960's I was watching a old black and white science fiction movie about an invader from space.

    It was this huge square atop multiple legs that just went up and down, yet it still moved forward and backwards.

    It reminded me of a water tower, only square.

    At the end of the movie I remember vaguely a man and woman landing a helicopter on the top of it, and the square beginning to open after they started walking around the top of it.

    About that time my Dad caught me watching T.V. at 1 a.m. on a school night and chased my butt to bed.

    I never got to see the end of the movie or find out the name of it. Can someone help ?
