Samantha
Hi My name's Samantha. I'm 20 years old and live in PA. I'm majoring in clinical laboratory science, so I will probably be asking a lot of organic chem questions for the moment. I'm also a huge sports nut. I run about 30 miles a week and am in the gym a lot. It's a weird combo... geek/jock. I also LOVE the Steelers! That's basically all for now. :)

Would it be possible to subsitute n-butyl chloride for t-butyl chloride and measure the rate of solvolysis for n-butyl chloride?
I know the structural differences of the two, but I do not know how this would effect "the rate of solvolysis."
Any help is appreciated!

4 AnswersChemistry1 decade agoAlgebra.. please help?
0=15(t) - .5(9.8)(t)2 (2 is a square)
I don't know how to put this into a quadratic formula form.
I'm pretty awful at algebra and I'm in a phyisics class in college.. I feel like an idiot not knowing if I'm doing these right.
I got 0= -4.9 + 15t - .5t2 , but I highly doubt I did it right.
Please help!

Descibe a simple test based only on melting points that would establish whether or not the unknown is benzoic acid.
