I'm 42, married with 2 amazing daughters. I live in sunny southwest, Florida which I absolutely love, even in the summer! My passion is my TB (Thoroughbred for you non horse people) and hunt seat equitation on the flat and over fences. I'm new to competing, so ya'll will probably get a lot of silly questions from me!

  • Panic Disorder and Vomitting?

I have Panic Disorder and I vomit pretty bad during every attack. I do take medication which works very well, I'm just curious if anyone else out there goes through the same thing, or am I weirder than I thought?

  • Dressage Girth Question?

I currently use a 50" inch girth for my close contact saddle, but I recently started training in Dressage and I'm not sure what size Dressage girth to use with my Dressage saddle. Does anyone know the approximate size I need to look for? Thanks!

  • How Can I Stop My Horse From Jigging?

My TB mare starts jigging everytime we hit the show ring. She doesn't do it at home, but always at shows. Does anyone have some good tips on correcting the problem?

  • What shampoo, or conditioner would be best for my horse?

My girl has a little dry skin and some dandruff in her mane area. She doesn't have any dry patches really, just dry skin all over. I clipped her recently because she had grown in her winter coat which is funny becuase we're in southwest Florida and it doesn't get cold. Does anyone have any good suggestions? I keep staring at all coat products on the internet, but I'm not sure what would work best. Thanks!

  • Can Anyone Recommend Good All Purpose Horse Boots?

I have polo wraps, but I haven't quite mastered their correct applacation yet. I either get them too tight or too loose. I'm sure I'll master the process with time. However, my horse needs leg protection now. Can anyone recommend a good all purpose boot? I ride Hunt Seat Equitation on the flat and over fences and Hunter Under Saddle and over fences. Thanks!

  • How can I smoothly transition from a posting trot to a nice controlled sitting trot?

I'm a novice at hunt seat equitation and hunter under saddle. I do have a trainer and train two days a week on top of riding on my own. I'm having a hard time going from a working posting trot to a collected sitting trot. I end up pulling on my horse's mouth and that makes her go faster. My trainer hates it. My punishment is riding without my stirrups, which I actually love, but I'm telling her that! Any tips would be greatly appreciated! I do listen to my trainer, I'm just curious to see what works for other riders.

  • Does anyone know what kind of Florida snake is dark red?

I drove by a dead snake on the road here in southwest Florida. It was dark red and did not resemble a coral snake at all. Does anyone know what kind of snake it could be? Sorry I don't have any other description besides being red.

  • What is the proper way to wear a hairnet under a show helmet?

Up till now, I've been competing in training shows and I've gotten away with a polo, training helmet, breeches and half chaps. My next show will be formal and I pretty know how much everything goes except for the hairnet. Is it supposed to go over your ears? Sorry for the stupid question, I'm new to rated shows. Thanks!

  • Field Boot Question?

I ride Hunt Seat Equitation flat and over fences. I'm still pretty new to competing and so far I've been able to wear a polo, breeches, paddock boots and half chaps. I have show coming up in October and I'll have to be wearing the formal show attire. I have everything except for field boots. I really don't have the money for a pair of custom boots yet since I just bought my TB. Can anyone recommend field boots that are reasonably priced, but still acceptable in the show ring? Thanks!

  • How can I get the dye from my saddle to keep from coming off on my breeches?

I have a Circuit Elite XC saddle and I love it except that the dye on the seat gets on my breeches. I take very good care of my saddle, but I don't know how to keep the dye from coming off.

  • Why are there free roaming chickens in Key West?

I recently visited Key West and I live in southwest Florida, but I don't know the history behind the free roaming chickens in the city of Key West. It was actually way cool to see them tooling around. Especially the little babies!

  • What is an incentive fund AQHA foal?

I used to own a AQHA mare (Cameo Rose Redford) and she was an incentive fund foal, but I have no clue what that means. I know it's a stupid question. I have since moved on to a TB.

  • Does anyone know of any online consignment shops for english riding apparel?

I'm just looking for some used breeches and stuff that I can use for everyday schooling. I have a Circuit Saddle and the dye still comes off on my breeches a bit. I just hate to stain my good breeches with the dye. Granted, it's just on the butt, it still bothers me. Thanks for your help!

  • Where can I find a decent pair of knee patch show breeches at a reasonable price?

I just advanced up from hunt seat training shows, so my everyday breeches and half chaps will no longer be suitable. The problem is, I don't have $230 dollars to spend on a nice pair of Tailored Sportsman. Maybe in the future, but not right away. I appreciate any advice ya'll have to offer!

  • What is the best bra to wear for hunt/jump classes?

I know it's a silly question, but I'm looking for something that works for others. I'm a bit busty, so it's been hard to find something that works. Any serious answers would be greatly appreciated! I just don't want to look all floppy in the show ring!

  • What is the best oil to use on my english saddle?

I've heard that using Neetsfoot oil is bad for saddles, so I'm looking for an alternative. Right now I'm using Leathaphane and it seems to be okay. Any suggestions?
