I have my B.S. in Biology and am working towards my ultimate goal of a Doctrate in Veterinary Medicine. I volunteer at a shelter with a high bully breed population. Dogs with high prey drives and a decent amount of energy are my favorites to work with. I love using positive reinforcement based training and sharing the knowledge that I have accumulated.

2 AnswersDogs1 decade agoOwners of only one dog breed?
Has anyone on here ever owned only one breed of dog? My vet has told me that some people come in and refuse to own anything but one breed. Surely lifestyles change and with that the breed that best suites them. We get older and maybe not as active, or we have children and don't have as much time to spend on training, so we need a dog that catches on quickly and can stand the pinching and poking of children. So why do some people only ever own one breed?
16 AnswersDogs1 decade agoFavorites large dog breeds?
What are your favorite breeds of large dog? Why? Have you ever owned one?
My two favorite are German Shepherds and American Pit Bull Terriers.
German Shepherds because they are very protective of their people, yet friendly if socialized. They are also great with kids, very intelligent, and such big babies with their family. I think they are some of the most beautiful dogs out there. I prefer black and tan, but I currently own a sable.
American Pit Bull Terriers because they are friendly with everyone. In my oppinion they are the most versatile breed and very misunderstood. They have the cutest faces and are some of the most cuddly dogs I have ever met. I prefer black dogs with some white markings, but I also like tan (or brown) and white. I've never owned one, but I've had lots of experience handling and training them.

What do you like (looks wise) in a dog?
Temperament wise?
I like short coated dogs. I don't like putting too much time in to grooming. I'd rather be walking or playing with him/her. I also tend to like muscular type dogs with uncropped ears. Temperament wise I like friendly dogs that thrive on human interaction. Intelligence is always a plus for me. I also tend to like medium-high energy dogs. Dogs that like to cuddle are my favorites! My favorites are pitties (Bull is a pit mix) and German Shepherd Dogs (Otis).
