  • How can I revive my Houseplants?

I have an Ivy and a Spider plant that need help! First, I think I have the wrong type of planter for them because there are no drainage holes, I'm going to fix that problem this weekend.

Second, I tried following directions on eHow for reviving plants, but the ivy seems to have gotten worse! Here are the directions I followed.

    http://www.ehow.com/how_18420_revive-wilted-potted...

The spider plant seems to be fine, but I am worried about it rotting. I trimmed the tips of the leaves that were brown and removed the leaves that had wilted.

The ivy is all wilted, minus two leaves on the same 'stalk'. What can I do (besides re-potting it) to help it...is there a way to save it?

  • Rose bushes colliding?

My mother has about 3 rose bushes around our house (she passed away in December). She taught me how to take care of them when I was in high school, so I know the basics.

I remember when she got her third, she planted it closer to one of the others and the next summer, she had two of the same color roses from two different bushes! When she asked someone about this, apparently they told her this could happen with roses.

Now, I planted a rose bush that should produce white roses next year in her memory and FH would like to plant one in memory of his mother, but with yellow roses. I am wondering how far away we should plant them, if there is any truth to what this person told my mother years ago!

    Thanks in Advance!

  • What should I wear to an Education Job Fair?

I have a few different outfits to chose from, but I am having a hard time deciding. I have everything else managed (resumes, schedule, pens) I am just worried about what to wear!

    Some of my choices:

cotton skirts (most with prints or embroidery)

gray cotton dress pants (no pin stripes)

navy cotton dress pants (no pin stripes)

plain short sleeve shirts-dark pink, black, light green, dark purple, red

    plain long sleeve shirts-pink, brown

short sleeve mock scoop neck sweater set (light green)

beige/white/light tan long sleeve and short sleeve shirts

    coral cardigan

    white cardigan

    black cardigan

I do not have a suit, nor do I want one, nor will I wear one. A suit is most typical reserved for a person in an administration position, not for a classroom teacher.

    Ideas for an outfit?

Also, should I wear my engagement ring? I usually wear it everyday, every where. I do not plan on wearing any other jewelry.

  • Dog Food Analysis?

    I have seen the

    http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/

    and the

    http://www.dogfoodproject.com/

    Websites.

I am wondering who is doing the analysis for these foods?

My vet recommends a certain brand that is actually considered low on these scales. Then, the (very reputable) breeder we got our first dog from recommends another food that is also low on the list. The person from a rescue group that we are getting our next dog from recommends a brand I don't even see on the list and she did not condone the brand we feed now.

What sources do you follow for your dogs diet?

Is it true that we should feed our dogs what they like and what they're used to, even if a analysis rates it low?

My dog is healthy, has healthy bowel movements, is energetic, his coat is shiny and soft, he doesn't smell, his teeth are clean, etc.

Should I stick with what's been working for a year now, or do I buy a different brand because it is higher on a scale and others suggest it?

  • How do I know if I have arthritis?

How do I know if I have arthritis? My mother had it early on in her life-when she was in her late twenties & my sister has had arthritis since she was in her mid twenties. Two out of three of my maternal aunts have arthritis & have had it since they were in their early thirties. I do not know the medical history for my father's side.

I do not have health insurance, so, as you can imagine, I don't have the resources of a doctor or nurses that might help me.

If this helps, here is some information:

I am 22, a college student. The pain is mostly located in my wrists when I am knitting, crocheting, writing or typing. Sometimes it occurs when I am doing a lot of cutting for scrap booking or other crafts. The same type of pain also occurs in my shoulders when I have been typing, writing or playing bingo (with bingo-the pain occurs earlier and in my predominant shoulder). The same pain also occurs in my knees when I have been sitting/standing in the same position for a long time. Help!

  • Non-existant step father?

When my fiance (let's call him Jack) was 7, his mom and dad divorced & his mom remarried soon after & stayed with the same man, let's call him Bo. Bo is a plumber and he and his wife (my fiance's mother, we'll call her Sue) have their own business. To make a long story short, Bo basically teaches Jack all he needs to know for the job and Jack becomes a master plumber. Things go sour after Jack graduates HS, but he tries to stay close to his mom. Bo wants to move to FL and he does, w/ Sue. Then, Sue is terminally ill (some years have passed) and Bo doesn't bother telling Jack until Sue is on her death bed--literally. Jack flies to FL and holds his mom's hand as she is dying. After she dies, Bo screws Jack out of all of the inheritance and most importantly, out of pictures and memories he had with his mom. Jack is marrying me. He has decided not to invite Bob (he and Bob hasn't spoken in almost 2.5 years) but I think we should at least send a "we're married" note after the wedding.

  • Do any teachers keep their myspace or facebook pages when they start teaching?

I'm a junior in college--majoring in Elementary Education. I will be student teaching next semester and then once I graduate I hope to get a job in the public school system.

I'm looking for only serious answers here!

I'm wondering if there are any teachers out there now who have a myspace or facebook page/had a myspace or facebook page? I'm wondering if it is worth the risk to keep a myspace/facebook page. I'm careful with pictures I post, things I say and how I portray myself. Plus I am able to keep in touch with so many friends over the internet. I'm just still not sure if I want my students, or parents of my students seeing a myspace page with me on it, never mind the principal of the school!

Does anyone have real life advice on this one? Anyone with similar situations?

  • Knitting suggestions? Is it possible to knit with one needle?

Is it possible to knit with only one needle? If it is, does anyone have websites they can recommend that show/teach this process?

I have always wanted to learn how to knit, so my friend got me size 10.5 needles, size 11 needles and some yarn. I wanted to start with a scarf and she taught me how to cast on and . I understand the concept and the procedure and I can actually do it, it's just that my needles end up getting to close together/the yarn is too tight in between and I can't even move my needles. Is there something I'm doing wrong? My friend says I just need to relax and not worry about the technique, and that practice will help. I'm wondering if knitting with one needle is possible and if it would be easier for me.

  • I know Thanksgiving is a ways off...but?

I met my current boyfriend through a mutual friend. This mutual friend (let's call him Y) and I have been on and off friends for quite a while, our past is our past and I accept that, but it seems like he doesn't.

My boyfriend and I are really serious and we've talked about where we're going to spend the holidays--such as Thanksgiving and Christmas. His family officially invited me to Thanksgiving dinner. The location is actually at Y's mother's house, so Y will be there.

I'm wondering if I should try to patch things up with Y (again). As in, "I know we've had our disagreements, but I'm in this for good with OUR friend and I would like to be on good terms with you". Or should I just leave it as it is?

Also, should I mention to Y I'll be there for the Holidays, or should I not say anything and let him find out when he sits down at the table?

  • I'm not used to having money spent on me...?

I'm not used to boyfriends spending any amount of money on me, but my current boyfriend has no quams about spending money on me. I mentioned I wanted a new camera and that I was saving for it and the next thing I knew he was getting it for me for my birthday. When I mentioned I wanted a Vera Bradley wallet to match my bag, he got it. He's also spending hundreds of dollars on snowmobiling gear for me. I like having money spent on me (what girl doesn't?) but I always feel a little strange when he spends large amounts of money on me. Does anyone have any advice on better ways to say thank you or approach getting gifts like this?

    PS I'm not complaining!
