  • Jack Russell jealousy and puppy peeing!?

    Hi all,

I have both a 6 month old Jack Russell called Oskar, very big at 7kg, and a small JR pup of 13 weeks called Elvis (2,3 kg as of today!.) Both are wonderful dogs (male), and seem to enjoy each others company. However, while Oskar is trained, and listens to commands, it is extremely difficult to train Elvis, as Oskar is always in the way. When I try to cuddle Elvis, Oskar goes crazy and will jump onto my lap, standing on and pushing Elvis away. Similarly, I have been attempting to train Elvis in the simple "sit, stay, leave it" commands. Oskar, again, will interrput. If I put him in the garden, he barks or whines, and will be resentful towards Elvis when he comes back in. Neither dogs are neutered at this stage, and I'm wondering if it would make a difference. I'm loathe to neuter Oskar, as he's generally a friendly and sociable little guy.

And back to Elvis - although he pee's and poo's on the newspaper I set out, he will also urinate on material (including his bedding.) He will then sleep on his urine stained bed. Oskar never had this problem, as a very young pup, and was horrified by pee near his bedding...

I would massively appreciate any advice from the dog lovers/owners out there!!!
