  • Banned David Bowie Song?

My Wife keeps bugging me to find out the name of a song David Bowie did that got banned in the 70's. Apparently, some of the lyrics were something like, "It's hot, let's go to bed."

Can someone help me out on this, please?

  • Advice regarding duty free alcohol needed.?

I returned yesterday from a holiday in Kenya with my wife. We flew from Mombasa to Nairobi, then Nairobi to Amsterdam and, finally, from Amsterdam to Manchester. Whilst in Nairobi, we each purchased a bottle of spirits. They were un-opened, and sealed in a polythene bag along with the receipt.

When we were going through the boarding gate in Amsterdam, we had both bottles confiscated. I've checked websites and it would appear we were within our legal limits. Does anyone have any up-to-date information on whether this is correct, and action I can take if appropriate?

    Cheers.

  • Bearing in mind the disabled discimination act...?

is it morally right to have sexual fantasies about Leela, the cartoon futuristic cyclops-orphan from Futurama?

My previous fixation was for Betty Rubble from the Flintstones. Though she appeared all meek and mild, I reckon she was an absolute tiger in the bedroom. However, she's a little too old for me now, so I've got to move on.

Your comments on this dilemna would be appreciated.

  • Is £25 per child per day a reasonable rate?

My wife's recently become registered as a childminder and, rather than quote an hourly rate, plans on advertising a flat rate of £25 per child per day. For Salford, Manchester, do you think this sounds better than an hourly rate?

  • ***All Mobile Phone Users***?

Not a question - sorry - but a word of warning. I recently received a missed call from a number starting 07040. Assuming it to be another mobile, as it started 07, I rang it back, as I have a home business and it could have been a customer.

I was greeted with a recorded message telling me to hold for the next available operator. After another 20 seconds or so, I was told there was nobody available and the call terminated.

Checking on the ICSTIS and OFCOM sites, the company issuing this number is currently under investigation for doing scams like this.

Not cost a lot of money, granted, but don't return any such calls you get.

    Regards,

    John Galvin.

  • The old chestnut about NHS refusing treatment for smokers again?

In the Daily Mail, there are reports about the NHS refusing treatment to smokers and obese people, due to their "lifestyle choices" increasing the risk of a particular condition.

Why do the NHS never consider:

    (i) Refusal of treatment to drug users that contract hepititis?

(ii) Refusal to treat those that have an illness due to their irresponsible sexual practices. (I am not specifically referring to homosexual people - hence the wording.)

The above two examples are, surely, a lifestyle choice.

In addition, why do the government insist on rewarding school-age girls for breaking the law? There can be no better proof that the age of consent has been breached than a baby. Surely, prosecutions should be threatened or, at least, any benefits withheld under these circumstances.

Before I get dozens of 'thumbs downs' for this - I am not seriously suggesting the three examples should be considered, I'm merely wondering why certain lifestyle choices are shunned.

  • Why do some people remain anonymous?

When an offer is made, in good faith, and people decide, rather than simply ignore it, to insult the person making the offer, why do they not leave any contact details for further discussion?

  • Would anyone like £20?

The company I'm with offers line rental, up to 8meg broadband and free weekend calls with NO minimum contract. If you have your gas and electricity with them, too, it becomes free landline calls 24/7 - again with no minimum contract.

If you want to try them, give me a bell on 0800 298 2384 - or email me - and, once you've switched I'll send you a crisp £20 note, by registered post, to you. No catch, no commitment. I use them, and so does my Dad, family and friends.

  • Helping reduce student loan debt?

Would anyone like a free DVD sent to them, explaining how they can earn money whilst they're studying, without having to devote more than a couple of hours a week to it? Email me your full details if you do. Cheers.

  • How many sunflowers must I plant to offset 1 ton of carbon dioxide annually?

Most sites I check, about becoming carbon neutral, suggest a number of trees I must plant to offset my carbon usage. I have grandchildren, who are far too impatient to watch a tree grow. Sunflowers, being annual, are great to grow, with fairly instant results for them to look at. I would like to know if anyone knows how many must be grown to offset 1 ton of carbon dioxide - though I appreciate it would be a huge number!
