Would this scenario be considered medical malpractice?
For about the last year I've been under the care of a cardiologist. During this time I've had dozens of tests done, some multiple times. I have yet to receive a diagnosis, or a referral to a different specialist. The cardiologist has not followed the recommend differential diagnostic process for the condition I have, having neglected two of the most common causes. This is beside the point of the most troubling incident that happened while receiving care from this physician.
Earlier this year the cardiologist put me on a medication, and over a month increased the dose beyond what is recommend (off-label). The problem being that dosages at the level I received are toxic. I ended up hospitalized, and may have irreparable heart damage because of it. My physician did not tell me he was prescribing off-label, and actually blamed my "life stress" for my hospitalization. This physician also did not do the appropriate blood tests prior to and after prescribing the medication, and increasing the dosage. Under the care of this physician my life has fallen apart. I had a fairly normal life a year ago, now I've lost 40lb (I was extremely fit when this started) and can barely take care of my basic life needs. Oh, and now I'm essentially broke because of all the medical bills.
I put a lot of trust in the doctor based on his resume, which now seems misplaced. To me it seems like obvious malpractice, but I'm hardly objective in this situation. What does the community think?
4 AnswersMedicine6 years agoGetting medically discharged from the National Guard. What do you know?
After 13 years of service (4.5 active) I'm getting medically discharged. There is no real support or liaison in my state for this process. I'm kinda in the dark about everything other than the date of discharge(which was just two weeks from the time I was notified, way to go G-1). My understanding is that only at 15 years do you receive a medical retirement and all the benefits that go along with it. Seems a little harsh to get put out at 13 years with just a swift boot to the ***. I'm well aware of most of my VA benefits, but does anyone have any knowledge of eligibility of Army/Guard benefits i.e. TriCare, Commissary, and so on?

1 AnswerInvesting1 decade agoNon-contact hip injury, what happened to me.?
While playing basketball about half an hour ago I suffer a sudden intnese pain in my outer left hip. While driving down the court I cut to the right and at the same time heard a loud cracking/tearing noise. I was dropped to the ground and slide face first across the floor. I thought someone had caught me with thier knee or elbow, this was not the case I was not in traffic. It felt very similar to be struck with a baseball. The after effects are deep aching pain, loss of upward and rearward mobility. There is no apparent bruising at this point but the area is tender to the touch. What just happened to me and what should I do?

Here's my situation. I've been fighting a disease for a few years and have finally got over it. Before I was sick I weighed between 215-225 pounds, now I weigh 192. I've got back in the gym and started lifting and doing cardio and put on ten pounds since mid september. I'd like to speed my muscle growth up to get me back to where I was. So my question is which are the best supplements on the market to take right now. Please only genuine insight, and no steroid advice.

My wife has a friend who has come into some legal trouble. Nothing extremly bad, but some things that may make it so she loses her license to operate her three day cares. If this does happen she has asked up to take over ownership until she has her problems resolved. She's a good friend and we're more than happy to help if we can, but the question is what kind of tax liability are my wife and I looking at in this situation? Also if anyone knows, is there some kind of custiodial ownership out there that will prevent us from having to deal with any of these issues.
1 AnswerUnited States1 decade agoNCOER question.?
I'm having trouble coming up with recomended future duty positions for one of my E-5s. The soldier is a 63A (tank mechanic), and now with the two level maintainence restructuring of the Army there are very few duty positons for an 63A30. I have Sr. Mechanic, and Section Sgt., but I'm at a loss for the third. I feel positons like asst. operations NCO, DI, or some cadre positions are a cop out. Anyone have any ideas. This is an excellent troop, and would like to see him move up to a place where he can excel and gain some quality experiance.
