  • What is the most boring/ crappy/torturous book you've ever been forced(ie school) or forced yourself to read?

    And conversely, what book were you were forced to read that you ended up really liking? And why, if there was a reason.

    Mine for the crappy end of the spectrum would probably have to be Charles Dickens' David Copperfield. Not to knock it, but it bored me to tears and Charles Dickens usually didn't have that effect on me. I just could never get into it.

    On the other end, I had to read The Count of Monte Cristo, and absolutely loved it. It held my interest the whole way through.

  • What is the name of this scifi book?

    I started to read one in a series about 15 years or so ago and can't remember the name, so I figured I take a shot in the dark and see if anyone would be able to recognize it. :) It takes place on a world where each season is about 600 years long. The one I'd started to read was switching from winter to spring. That's all I remember, sorry :)
