Hi! I'm going to be dog sitting a friends Jack Russell and want to teach him a few tricks if i can :)

I have tried training him lie down before but all he does i strains his neck as far a he can or get up...

He know these tricks: sit stay come paw high five high ten and turn (while standing)

He is 2 years old if that helps in anything. My dog learned lie down pretty easily so this is new to me..

My bet guess was a shih tzu king charles cavalier cross . It's supposed to be a purebred dog.

The one on the cover. I thought it might be a Vizsla but the eye colour is wrong (all vizslas have brown eyes matching their coats) and the texture of the fur because Vizslas have smooth fur. Help?

My neighbor's dog Max is going to be 2 in august and he knows two commands, sit and paw.

He is a Jack Russel.I figured I would try to train him a little (it was ok with his owner) I asked him to sit and then tried to lure him down. But he (I have no idea how) stretches his neck tries to get the treat.

When I don't give it to him (because he didn't lie down) he sits a bit further back from me and when that of course doesn't work he tries to so his other trick paw. And when THAT does not work he just loses interest and goes off sniffing and running. (we where outside and it was very nice weather..)

I try again and the same thing happens and he is very cute so when I can see how desperate he is to get the treat when he does paw I give it to him. I know I probably did that wrong but still.. He at least did something for it didn't he? So again I ask why won't he lie down??? Please help!!
