  • Children of Illegal Immigrants Sue Florida Over State’s College Tuition Policy?

Should the children of illegal immigrants get instate tuition and sue when they don't get what they think is rightfully theirs?

(Let me preface this by saying that I am a retired teacher - high school and college) who taught for many years in other countries. I leased a car in some of these places and paid for the lease and the insurance that went along with the car. I followed every rule of every country. I had a work visa and when it was up, I was taken to the airport and left the country.)

Why should they get to break every rule and get to stay in our country? One video I saw recently of an illegal immigrant driving a big fancy car bringing her kids to school told one reporter. "No, I don't have insurance on this car because I can't afford it. If I get in a car accident, I will take my kids and go back to Mexico and abandon everything." So what if she kills someone in this accident or just maims them or destroys their car or their property? Why should they not be held accountable?

Many of my students in other countries wanted to come to the US to study because they said they could get their education and "find someone to sue and make a ton of money to take back with them." These were the very words of the ones in Kuwait.

  • Donations to Occupy Wall Street Now ‘Tax Deductible’?

The $500,000 in donations collected by Occupy Wall Street is drawing the attention of many people.

The “residents” of Zuccotti Park in Manhattan heard about the huge sum of money and during the regular “General Assembly” meetings, arguments have broken out over how the money is being allocated.

One reporter, Buck Sexton, speculated on GBTV last Friday that the IRS might take a look at the situation. After all, this is not an official non-profit organization and they have raised over a half million in funds and accumulated untold amounts of goods (non-perishable foods, sleeping bags, goggles, etc.)

Perhaps the “leadership” at OWS realized their finances were a liability and they have formed an alliance of sorts with a Social Justice non-profit group that will collect the money for them. Enter, the Alliance For Global Justice (AfGJ).

    AfGJ claims to have roots that go back to the late 1970s, but they only formally organized and were recognized back in 1998. According to their website’s mission statement;

It is the mission of the Alliance for Global Justice to achieve social change and economic justice by helping to build a stronger more unified grassroots movement.

    And they also know an opportunity when they see one… also from the AfGJ mission statement;

The Alliance nurtures organizations seeking fundamental change in international and national conditions that dis-empower people, create disparities in access to wealth and power, poison the earth, and plunder its resources.

    http://afgj.org/

Occupy Wall Street seems to fit right in with the broad strokes of the Progressive movement that AfGJ claims to be a part of since 1979. And that is why it made perfect sense that this Alliance would swoop in and offer to collect money for OWS and also be able to offer “tax deductible” status to people who donate.

My personal reaction is "you've got to be joking."

  • Obama & Hollywood billionaires & secret meetings. Will the media industrial complex help Obama win re-election?

"...President Barack Obama stopped for an undisclosed meeting with some of the entertainment industry's high-level executives, as well as talent representatives with access to the industry's top stars and musical acts...

The event was not a fundraiser, and attendees were not asked to donate to the Obama reelection campaign.

But those invited have been ardent supporters of the president and were identified as "influencers" with the ability to help Obama shape the national political conversation heading into a tough race in 2012.

Among the small group of industry insiders who were invited to attended the early-morning meeting with the president at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel were:

-Weinstein Co. studio head Harvey Weinstein,

    -ICM president Chris Silbermann,

    -Modern Family creator Steve Levitan,

    -Atlantic Records chairman Craig Kallman,

    -producer/songwriter Bruce Roberts,

-talent manger and producer Jason Weinberg,

  • Has anyone else noticed there seem to be professional hired guns on here?

I have been posting since the first of the month and I see about five or six posters that do nothing but "debunk" conservatives - I mean these posters seem to be trained and equipped with canned answers to post.

Be careful when you read some of these questions and answers and don't be swayed without looking into the question a little deeper. Don't be swayed by some of these smoothies. I feel that we are being overseen here for Obama. Part of my evidence is Obama's new website "Attackwatch.com" - everything that people say that doesn't favor him can be reported to the website. That's why I think that there are reports being blasted on the news about him "giving his own money to poor people" - Michelle is working with this group" "Obama supporters are shocked the economy isn't better - it's all to make him appear more favorable to the public and get more contributions. It's seems like a fairy tale being created for us...He will do anything to get votes - ANYTHING!

Obama Admin Removes References of Islam from Terror Training Materials

Deputy U.S. Attorney General James Cole confirmed on Wednesday that the Obama administration was pulling back all training materials used for the law enforcement and national security communities, in order to eliminate all references to Islam that some Muslim groups have claimed are offensive.

“I recently directed all components of the Department of Justice to re-evaluate their training efforts in a range of areas, from community outreach to national security,” Cole told a panel at the George Washington University law school.

The move comes after complaints from advocacy organizations including the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) and others identified as Muslim Brotherhood front groups in the 2004 Holy Land Foundation terror fundraising trial.

In a Wednesday Los Angeles Times op-ed, Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) president Salam al-Marayati threatened the FBI with a total cutoff of cooperation between American Muslims and law enforcement if the agency failed to revise its law enforcement training materials.

  • Will Steve Jobs prophecy come true?

Steve Jobs warned President Barack Obama that he would not be back in the White House for a second term unless he adopted more business-friendly policies, according to a new biography of the Apple Computer co-founder.

"You're headed for a one-term presidency," Jobs bluntly told Obama during a meeting in San Francisco in the fall of 2010.

The encounter is detailed in "Steve Jobs," by Walter Isaacson. The book will be released Oct. 24, but several news organizations obtained advance copies. Isaacson also talked about the biography in an interview with "60 Minutes" that will air Sunday on CBS.

The book describes Jobs as highly critical of the Obama administration's policy toward businesses, saying that companies were more like to build factories in China because of "regulations and unnecessary costs."

Nevertheless, Jobs offered to design ads for Obama's 2012 re-election campaign, the book says.

Jobs died Oct. 5 at age 56 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. In the biography, Isaacson also reveals that the computer genius regretted his decision to postpone cancer surgery for several months. Instead, he tried alternative therapies.

"I really didn’t want them to open up my body, so I tried to see if a few other things would work," Jobs said.

  • American Federal Loans Create Jobs in Finland - Do you thank our "Green Prez"?

Just when we thought nothing could beat Solyndra in terms of dirty corruption scheme presented as an “investment in green energy of the future,” we have something even worse: $529 million Federal loan guarantee to a start-up electric car company named Fisker. Which is okay, except that . . . Fisker took the money to Finland to produce their cars there. The owner of the company, Henry Fisker, has no experience in the auto-making industry, and his company has no previous history of any successful project. That is, he created the company for the sole purpose to take the government guarantee and get loans from the banks.

There’s no politics involved, of course. Except that the major financial backer of the Fisker Company has contributed more than $1 million to political causes, mainly to the Democrats. But that’s just a coincidence.

Well, at least we have a “green” car that is affordable and accessible. Uh huh. For the half billion dollars Fisker has produced 40 cars so far, and sold 2 (two). That since the company was started in 2008. It probably has something to do with the price of the “green” car: almost $100,000. Americans, apparently, don’t appreciate the benefit of driving a “green” car enough to be willing to pay so much money for it. At that price, one has to drive the Fisker car for about half million miles before the cost evens out with a normal cost car – and that if we assume that Fisker gives 20 miles a gallon better mileage. In reality, the benefit will never be there.

  • Is this Solydra story #5?

This was just released by CNBC & OTHER NEWS AGENCIES....

DOE Caught Removing Company’s Name From Old Press Releases

Thanks to CNBC, the Department of Energy has been caught removing references to “SunPower,” a solar energy company that was given $1.2 billion in loan guarantees, from old press releases (H/T Hotair).

“The changes occurred in two press releases from the Department of Energy’s loan guarantee program — the same program that has been the center of controversy surrounding the failed solar company Solyndra,” reports Eamon Javers of CNBC.

“Both were changed to remove the name of a company that has received negative press attention in recent days, SunPower, and replace it with the name of another company, NRG Energy,” he added.

  • SO THIS IS THE AVERAGE WALL STREET PROTESTER?

Watch the video - This trust fund baby is Edward Hall III He has some notoriety now. This trust fund baby was found on a luggage carousel, trying to stow away on a flight at JFK? Now he is protesting Wall Street while money managers look after his finances. You expected consistency and logic from this crowd? Hall III has to take care not to get arrested at the OWS demonstration, though, because he’s on a “conditional release” after his hijinks at JFK, which means that he can end up back in jail on the original charge if he causes any trouble.

  • Why does the media openly take sides on issues?

A Tale of Two Protests: Media Cheer Wall Street Occupiers But Jeered Tea Partiers

The Occupy Wall Street protestors have received overwhelmingly positive coverage from the Big Three (ABC, CBS, NBC) news networks, as they used their airtime to publicize and promote the aggressively leftist movement. In just the first eleven days of October, ABC, CBS and NBC flooded their morning and evening newscasts with a whopping 33 full stories or interview segments on the protesters. This was a far cry from the greeting the Tea Party received from the Big Three as that conservative protest movement was initially ignored (only 13 total stories in all of 2009) and then reviled.

Congress isn’t getting a glimpse of what’s on President Barack Obama’s Blackberry – or any more internal White House communications related to the bankrupt solar company Solyndra, which received a $535 million loan guarantee from the federal government.

House Republicans investigating the loan controversy had requested all internal White House documents about the issue. House Energy and Commerce subcommittee chair Rep. Cliff Stearns said that includes emails on the President’s Blackberry.

On Friday the White House Counsel sent a letter to the House Energy and Commerce Committee explaining they won’t comply with the request because it “implicates longstanding and significant institutional Executive Branch confidentiality interests.
