I'm 28 and have an 9 yr old son who means the world to me. I enjoy spending time with family, reading, camping, fishing, music, concerts, partying with friends on ocassion, I absolutely LOVE dirt track racing. I collect dirt track diecast cars and some Nascar stuff. I have always been interested in fish aquariums, mostly freshwater, but recently ventured into the saltwater world with a 24gallon Nano reef tank. I also have a baby corn snake that has been a great addition to our family. Oh, and I work at a Credit Union as a teller and loan officer.

  • How can I find my ball python? HELP!?

Ok, I know this has happened to several people before, but I still feel like a moron for losing my snake. I forgot to secure the lid on one side after changing his water last night....so this morning, no snake. I feel like I have looked everywhere. Behind, in and under appliances, dresser drawers cabinets, boxes. I even sprinkled some flour in doorways to see if he has been there.....anyone have any helpful tips or have you had a similar experience? What are my chances of finding him? Hes just a baby really. not very big. Ive only had him for a few days and am starting to freak out a little.

  • How to keep the proper humidity for a corn snake?

Ok so I wasn't going to get a cornsnake yet.... but after a recent trip to Petco, even though I usually dont purchase animals from chain stores, I couldnt resist buying a baby corn that I fell in love with at first sight! Yeah, so anyways, he is the sweetest little thing, but Im having trouble keeping the proper humidity. I need tips or suggestions to keep things stable. He is currently in a 10g aquarium with a screen top(weighted down to keep it secure so little guy doesnt escape). I am using aspen bedding as a substrate. I have a hide on the cool side and the warm side, a heat pad under the warm side that was rated for a 10-20g terrarium and covers a little less than half the tanks bottom. My house is kind of cool, so I also have a heat lamp that I use in the daytime with a 50w red bulb to help keep the temp near 80 in the daytime hours. I turn it off at night and the temp goes down to around 72. He also has a branch with some fake leaves on it to climb on. oh, and a small water dish, probably 3" around, and 2 inches deep which is on the cool side of the tank. Im having a humidity problem. Right now the humidity is at 29%. For the past few days I have misted the tank a few times a day which would get the level closer to 45%, but it doesnt last lmore than 30 minutes before it starts to drop again.. What can I do to keep the humidity at a stable level? I cover the top of the cage on the opposite side of the light to try and hold in the humidity, but it doesnt help much. I bought a digital humidity, temperature guage from walmart. could this be the majority of my problem? Maybe its not accurate? Any help would be great. Serious answers only please, Im trying to provide the best possible habitat for my snake.

  • I plan on getting a baby cornsnake. I have a 55g tank, is that too big?

I'm going to be getting a baby cornsnake in the near future. I wont be getting one until January or February so I still have plenty of time to research more about them. My question is, I have a 55gallon reptile tank that is empty at the moment and plan to use this as his habitat. I have read that cornsnakes only need a 10g to feel secure. IF I provide plenty of hiding spaces in the 55g will it be ok? Or will this still be too large of an enclosure?? I would really like to use this tank to give him plenty of room, and am thinking that multiple hides in this tank will make him feel more secure?
