When moving into an apartment, what do you do if the rooms are different sizes?
I'm moving in with my friend this fall (near UT Austin) and our rooms are different sizes. One room is 8' x 9' and the other is 11' x 12'. If I want the bigger room, would I pay a greater rent?
6 AnswersRenting & Real Estate6 years agoCollege classes that are smaller and more discussion based?
I'm a junior at UT Austin, which is a BIG school. I'm a science major, so most of my classes have been 300+ people each, so I never really got to have the experience of discussing ideas in a smaller atmosphere. So, for those of you who went to large colleges, what are some examples of some smaller classes that are more discussion-based?
2 AnswersHigher Education (University +)6 years agoI think I have depression. What should I do?
I am 20 years old, currently a junior in college. For the past year, I ve found that I feel anxious, irritable, lonely, and terribly sad. I ve been trying to combat this negative feelings by exercising, eating healthier, and making a conscious effort to maintain a positive attitude every day.
But it s still not working. To this very moment, I find myself feeling very sad and I can t figure out why. I think that I have depression, and I don t know what to do to solve it. I fear that it will only get worse with time. What should I do?

3 AnswersDiet & Fitness6 years agoI feel really depressed about turning 20… What should I do?
I know that 20 isn't old, but I have been feeling very lost lately. Most of my friends are in serious relationships and they have jobs, and here I am just trying to get decent grades in school. I may be an adult but I still feel like a little kid. In fact, people often mistake me for a little kid in high school even though I'm a sophomore in college. I guess I don't really feel 20 and as a result I'm a little sad. What are some things I can do to help me become more mature and possibly figure out my life?

1 AnswerLaw & Legal6 years agoWhich backpack should I buy for college?
I'm starting at UT Austin, which is a huge campus so I'll be doing plenty of walking. I need a sturdy backpack that can carry plenty of books, my laptop, a water bottle, and maybe a change of clothes and lunch bag as well as my phone and keys. Which do you suggest? I'm willing to spend around $50 hopefully not too much more than that, but if it's a long-lasting bag, I might splurge.
1 AnswerPacking & Preparation7 years agoShould I switch to a public health major?
I have just completed my freshman year at UT Austin, and I am currently a biochemistry major. I got accepted to the public health program and I am debating whether or not I should switch my major, or if I can double major in biochem and public health as they have similar prereqs in their degree plans. Are there any public health majors out there who can tell me about their experiences in the subject area, why they chose it, and what they liked and disliked about it?
1 AnswerHigher Education (University +)7 years agoCan I still get into medical school if I did poorly my freshman year?
I am about to start my sophomore year at UT Austin, and my freshman year didn't go very well. I made some bad grades and had to drop a class. I didn't fail anything but I made C's in 2 classes. I'm really worried that my chances of getting into medical school are slim to none...
Also, I want to improve sophomore year. What changes do you recommend I make to my lifestyle to help me grow past my awful freshman year?
4 AnswersHigher Education (University +)7 years agoWhy don't people like me? THIS IS NOT A PITY QUESTION?
Somehow I always end up with no weekend plans. My friends don't answer my texts or messages, and people blow me off whenever I try to make plans. It's really depressing. I wonder if it's something about me personally... or have people just become selfish as a whole?
I can't help but blame myself, but I don't know where to begin to change. I'm tired of being ignored and lonely.
1 AnswerPsychology7 years agoPlease help me lose the freshman 15?
When I started college, I was healthy. That was before I started living in a dorm with a dining hall and started taking classes and a lab that barely give me time to eat. By the tone I'm done with lab and work I'm too exhausted to eat smart , I find myself eating late at night and binging. I've gained so many pounds and I need help staying healthy. What do I do ?
1 AnswerDiet & Fitness7 years agoHow to lose weight in college?
I want to lose weight in college the right way, like I'm not in a huge hurry. I have a small gym in my dorm building, so I plan to do some cardio workouts at least 3x a week (I'm a biochem major with many sleepless nights so we'll see how that goes).
but the problem is college dorm food is so unhealthy! I can't afford to buy groceries, and seeing as how i don't have a stove, all I have is a microwave and a dining hall that serves greasy pasta and massive portions of meat... and pizza. How can I lose weight on a college budget? And how can I motivate myself to avoid junk food?
Also how do you curb late-night coffee cravings and junkfood cravings?
18 AnswersDiet & Fitness7 years agoNervous about going back to my high school... any advice?
Truth be told, I didn't really end high school well. My grades were good and I got into a good college, but I had no friends. Worse yet, the people I thought I could trust turned out to be indifferent and they just ignored me. But I loved my high school, like my teachers and stuff. There's an alumni event coming up soon and I've been invited and my parents insist that I go but I'm scared. I don't think I'm strong enough to face those people that made me so sad around the time of graduation. But I also don't want them to ruin this experience for me... that's what they'd want after all. So, what should I do?
3 AnswersFriends7 years agoWhere is my best friend?
I just started college at UT Austin. I'm the only one here from my high school, and I've been miserable with homesickness and loneliness. Fact is, there are 8000 other people in my freshman class, and I just haven't been able to connect with any of them. They all came with friends from high school. Me, I wasn't that lucky. And, I'm kind of shy and introverted, but I don't want to be alone all of college! I've been in college a whole month now. How do I meet my best friend?
1 AnswerFriends8 years agoI need to learn how to ride a bike. I'm 18. What should I do?
Hey so I'm going to UT Austin this fall, and I need a way to get around campus other than walking which takes too long... Is there any way I can take lessons to learn how to ride a bike?
Thanks.
3 AnswersCycling8 years agoWhat to do about the weird sensation in my head?
Hi, so lately I've noticed a really strange feeling in the right side of my head. It's like a pins-and needles sensation. It almost feels as if there are little prickly bugs crawling up and down my skull. I don't know what to do, it's freaking me out a bit. This has been occurring for a few months now, and I'm 18 years old.
1 AnswerPain & Pain Management8 years agoShould I buy an iPad for use in college?
I'm thinking of buying an iPad before college starts this fall. I'm going to UT Austin, which is a really big campus, so it'd be nice to have a lighter device that won't be so inconvenient to carry around.
So for all you iPad users out there, how useful is the iPad in school or work-related tasks? Can you take notes on it efficiently? Or is there another device that would be better for me to have?
