After graduation I wish to work on an oil or gas platform, preferably offshore. I am in my first year of a 4 year Engineering and Technology degree in which we specialise in year two. I'm not sure which route would be best for me? Petroleum Engineering or Mechanical Engineering? Thanks.

Next year I'll be studying Engineering and Technology at university, and there is an option of a foreign language module. The options are "Most European languages, Russian, Arabic, Mandarin & Cantonese". I already speak English fluently (As I hope you can tell!) and have a reasonable grasp of French. But with a career in Engineering I was thinking German might be the way to go, with firms like BMW having a manufacturing plant damn near my doorstep in Oxford. Mandarin is also an obvious choice. What do you guys think?

She's 17 and I'm 18. She hasn't much experience with guys and is still a virgin. We're both quite outgoing, with a wde group of friends and we're usually up to something (sometimes together, sometimes not) We met through mutual friends and got along well. Things were going swimmingly; she was giving me all the signals, her friends hinted that she likes me etc... I asked her out for a coffee yesterday (nothing heavy, just to hang out really) and she said she was busy with her friend, who I also know, which was no big deal. Anyway, I logged onto twitter the earlier when she was supposedly busy and noticed that her pal, who she was apparantly with, had been tweeting all day about how bored she is and she has work in a minute etc. Now the girl texts me as normal as you like after not speaking since last night (pretending to be busy I suppose?) I might just not reply, because I can be a b*tch too, right? So should I carry on as normal, nice as pie... or do I cut her off? Suggestions please!!!

My Dad left school at 16, as did my mother and went on to earn vocational qualifications such as NVQ's. When on Maternity leave around 12 years later, My mum earnt an undergraduates degree through the open university. Does this mean I am a first generation as neither attended a university, or second as my mum has a degree but not through an actual uni? Any help would be appreciated :)

I've been invited to a fancy dress party, and I was thinking of going as fonejacker. Are people likely to know who I am bearing in mind the people at the party will be 16-19 and a sociable bunch.

They're all a little older than me and I'm nearly 18 anyway! My fake ID will be a driving licence but I'd never use it to drive a car! My question is, could I be charged with showing false documentation to a doorman at a club, or does that law only apply if I were to try it with an officer of the law?

She was in the year above me at school (sixth form) but has just finished and wont be coming back in September, we talk if we're together and share enjoyable conversations, I wont be seeing her at school anymore but we move in the same circles so see eachother a bit at parties and social gatherings (yeah, parties). I think she likes me because she often tells me how funny I am and smiles alot during our conversations, we're friends on facebook and kinda talk on there, should I ask her for a coffee or something or wait until we hit it off at a party again and I'm fresh in her mind ;) Any help greatly appreciated :) cheers

I got with this girl at a party last weekend and we were really into eachother but i forgot to take her number! i private messaged her on facebook to ask if she wanted to meet up over the holidays, and they've just finished! anyway, my friend told me she only rarely goes on facebook but when she does this message will be there and outdated... should i leave it so she knows i tried, shall i email again and just say "don't worry" or shall i suggest another time?

P.S. she's in one of my classes at school so i can't just avoid her!
