I am wanting to make a rope toy for my cockatiel and I am wondering if there are any hazardous rope materials I should avoid. I know that many toys use cotton ropes but what other types could I use?

I am wanting to get a cockatiel or a lovebird this summer but I don't want to get 2 because I would rather have a strong bond with it. I am going to be a senior in high school the following school year and I will be gone for about 7 hours each day but the rest of the time I will be home. I need to know if Cockatiels can handle being alone better than a Lovebird or if it is about the same. I know that Lovebirds are known for their strong bonds but that they need a lot of social time but is it any less or more for a Cockatiel?
