Help planning a trip to Ireland?
Hi! I'm coming from New York and I really want to see all of Ireland that I can, but a really condensed version as I'll only have 7-10 days. It looks like I'll be flying into Dublin as that seems to be the cheapest (unless someone knows of a better option?). I want to spend a few days there, but other than that I'm not sure. I want to experience as much of the local culture as possible and I also want to see the beautiful landscape. Keep in mind that I'm traveling by myself and on a budget so train/bus will probably be my mode of transportation and I will probably stay at hostels. So what do you think? Galway? Cork? Belfast? And what attractions are must-sees? Specifics are appreciated because I have done my research but apart from Dublin I'm so confused.
PS. I'll be traveling in either September or October.
1 AnswerOther - Ireland6 years agoAre Magnesium supplements safe for IBS-C?
I've had IBS-C (constipation) for several years now and I'm at my wits end. I would like a long-term solution because even though I have a near-perfect diet my symptoms won't go away: bloating, gas, and constipation. Are Magnesium supplements safe long-term? And which type (citrate, oxide, etc)?
1 AnswerAlternative Medicine6 years agoWhat's a good last-minute option for a beach weekend getaway near NYC?
Looking to spend two nights in early August at a nearby beach. Most of the Jersey Shore is already booked as is Long Island from what I can tell. Looking to spend not much more than $150 a night for a 4 person room.
We're four 25-year-old girls. Looking for something relaxing (aka not Coney Island). We would consider going as far as Connecticut or southern MA.
3 AnswersNew York City6 years agoMy Spotify always gets stuck on one song. How do I fix it?
For the past few months, I have to manually switch the song or it just keeps playing the same song over and over again. This happens both in my personal playlists and on the Top Lists. The only place it doesn't happen is on Spotify Radio. I tried restarting my computer, logging out, updating to the latest version, etc and nothing works.
1 AnswerSoftware6 years agoGood, affordable wrinkle products?
I'm only 25, but I have some wrinkles on my forehead that I'd like to minimize as well as prevent more from forming. I need recommendations for cheap(ish) products. I would also like a recommendation for a night cream or something I could use under my eyes that won't make my make-up run (is there such a thing?)
I've searched the internet and I'm getting different recs everywhere so I'd like to get more consensus on what works. DIY/natural products are OK as long as there's some research to back them up and they're safe for sensitive skin.
Note: I tried a Retin-A/Retinol (not sure of the name) product and it made my skin way too dry and sensitive.
3 AnswersOther - Skin & Body6 years agoYellow cracking skin on feet?
What could it be? There's no itching and it's only on my big toe and part of my arch. Could it be athlete's foot?
I did peel it off a few weeks ago, but I just noticed that it came back. My feet tend to get rough patches that crack, but this is the first time they've been yellow.
2 AnswersSkin Conditions6 years agoHow easy is it to assemble an IKEA Malm bed?
In case it matters it's a high bed frame. The cost of an assembly service is almost the cost of the bed in the first place. I'm a 20-something female without much handiwork experience and I would have a friend help me.
4 AnswersDecorating & Remodeling6 years agoWhy does my NYC noise complaint case keeps getting closed?
I just moved in to an apartment only to find that the nice restaurant downstairs plays music with super loud bass that makes my whole apartment shake. It's definitely above the allowed decibels in my apartment and it's impossible to sleep or do anything. I'm no stranger to noise (I've lived in the city for a long time), but this is ridiculous. I actually don't mind the loud music at all I just mind the vibrations of the bass. I called 311 twice and both times my case was closed a few hours later without anyone doing anything about it. I also tried talking to the restaurant but all they did was invite me for a free meal and continue to play the loud music. What do I do?! I can't focus at work because I'm not sleeping at night. Please only respond if you're familiar with noise complaints in NYC.
4 AnswersNew York City6 years agoHow to get my adult mentally ill sister into a home? Are there any options paid for by the state (NJ)?
My sister is 23 and is driving my parents bankrupt. She has borderline personality disorder. She lives in their basement, breaks everything, steals money, and cannot commit to treatment. She also costs them a fortune in missed appointments. Her abusive boyfriend also lives with them because she throws a fit whenever my parents try to kick him out. He doesn't work and mooches off my parents as well. She has been hospitalized many times, but they're never able to keep her involuntarily for more than a week. Is there any way to get her assisted living and treatment paid for by the state? Especially if she is resistant? Although I'm assuming she would agree if an ultimatum of that or being on the street were given. I'm also worried if she continues to live with them that my dad will snap and hit her. A person can only handle their daughter hitting them and screaming at them for so long.
3 AnswersMental Health6 years agoDo I need antibiotics?
I think I have a sinus infection. A little over a week ago I started antibiotics (amoxicillin) for Strep throat. A few days in I started feeling better. Then after a day, I had the symptoms of a cold. After another few days I started feeling better. During this time I finished my course of antibiotics (yesterday). Now today I started feeling pretty lousy again. It feels more like a sinus infection since I have pain in my cheeks and a headache.
Could the antibiotics have started to treat the sinus infection and that's why I felt better? And if that's the case, wouldn't it now be resistant to antibiotics?
1 AnswerInfectious Diseases6 years agoDoes insurance usually cover more than one STD test a year? (BCBS)?
I was tested during my pap smear, but I'm worried that I might have been exposed to something since due to some symptoms I've been having (either Chlamydia or Gonorrhea). Is it likely that insurance will cover any of it? And if so, how will it appear on the bill (I'm on my parent's insurance)?
1 AnswerSTDs6 years agoLegal advice: renting in NYC?
My roommates and I were just rejected for an apartment. Is the landlord required to tell us why? I just honestly don't think she can have a legit reason since our applications were perfect.
Some background:
She required us all to have guarantors to be on the lease despite us all having our own income that would qualify (which doesn't make sense to me since each guarantor would be responsible for the entire rent of the apt). There are three of us and we all have guarantors that meet financial requirements, have large sums of money in the bank, and good credit. If anything were to happen to our incomes, it would be chump change for our guarantors to pay.
Another detail: I've actually been living in the apartment for two years listed as a "roommate" but not on the lease. I paid on time every month and the landlord knows me. My two roommates that were on the lease are moving out so the other girls applying would have been moving in for the first time.
It just seems really fishy to me and if she won't tell us why we weren't approved then how do we know it's for a legally sound reason?
3 AnswersRenting & Real Estate6 years agoHair roller advice?
I don't know anything about rollers, but want to purchase them. I have very thin hair (but a LOT of it) that doesn't style easily. It's very soft and healthy so it tends to fall flat. I've never been able to get curling irons to work for me. The longest it ever stayed was a few hours and that was when a professional did it for me. What's the best type of roller for me? Velcro, hot rollers, or something else? Any additional tips are also welcome!
