Help! This is the 1st time I've stained furniture. I sanded beforehand but the after staining, the finish is so rough. How can I sand it down without ruining the finish?

It was put in my mailbox so out of habit I opened it (obviously thinking it was mine) and it's a statement and a check for 6 cents. I know it's only 6 cents which is weird lol but the people might need the statement cause it's about a claim. I think it'll look real sketchy if I put it in a new envelope and hand write it out to them. What should I do?

I have a 4' x 5' painting that I just tried to hang in my bedroom. All I have here is small nails so I tried that but no luck. I guess I need something like a hook? It has a wire in the back but it wasn't fitting on the nails so can someone tell me the best thing to use for this?

If you were somewhere where piercings weren't really accepted can you easily use a spacer? In my case it's the labret. I've had it pierced for 2 years but now I will have to take it out. I don't want it out permanently so if I buy a spacer will it be easy enough for me to replace it often?

I always download songs. When I first click on them they always open up in my Windows Media Player and automatically get saved to my library. Well this one song opens in Windows Media Player just like the rest of them but won't save. I'm not even able to see it in my library while it's playing. Why is this?? It's so frustrating. The song is no different from any other song I've saved. And it's not like I ran out of space in my library cause I even tried deleting other songs but this one still won't save...

My mom told me she went into a panic attack today. She was home alone and heard a bunch of sirens outside. It sounded like there was a huge emergency right in the neighborhood cause the sirens went on forever. She tried to call my dad & brother but could not reach them right away. She thought cause of all the commotion and sirens, something had maybe happened to one of them and she was scared to death and panicking. Turns out, every year around Christmastime they have a Santa go around the neighborhood on a firetruck or something and wave to all the residents. It's complete bullshit cause the whole time you think someone's dying from all the sirens and it's so loud and annoying. My mom forgot what it was cause they only do it once a year but still. We've lived in the city most our life and have only lived in the suburbs for a couple years. To come from living in Philly where something is always going on, when you hear a bunch of sirens you think trouble. The whole Santa on a firetruck thing is completely out of line and really scared my mom and I'm sure it puts other people into a panic too. I want to complain but do not know who to contact. Do I contact the firehouse or some town council or something?

I was just watching an episode of "Paris Hilton's My New BFF" (this is the first time I watched it) and I was really shocked at how everyone had such a huge reaction to the whole racism thing. It was when one of the girls said that of course one of the contestants knows how to give manicures because they're Asian. Then everyone FLIPPED OUT. Honestly, I guess it was a tad bit harsh but come on... I think she meant it lightly and was kidding around. People joke with their friends all the time and you could tell she didn't mean to offend anyone and didn't know it would blow up that bad. But it seemed like every person took it wayyy too offensive. I just want to know what all you think cause I think everyone overreacted way too much.

Here's the scenario:

You're at a store ringing out and along with the different items you're buying, you decide to make a $1.00 donation to let's say breast cancer research. Everything gets rung up on the same receipt. As you go to pay you give the cashier a coupon you have for x amount off of the total purchase (meaning each item gets dicounted a little bit). Since the donation was rung up with everything else, a little bit gets taken off of that as well.

So my question is, is $1.00 still being donated to the cause? Let's say the coupon ended up taking off $0.20, in which you would pay $0.80 for the donation.

I heard something about the store paying the donation company x amount of money before they ask for donations, so that the donation company will still get the right amount (but I don't know if that's really the way it works). The whole coupon thing just confuses me and sorry if this question is confusing but I'd really like to know!

It's for my new apartment and we haven't talked about prices yet. What would be an acceptable amount to offer?

I'm going to a wedding this weekend. The last time I went to a wedding was when I was little so I don't even remember anything from it. What I'm wondering is if it is ok to wear a darker colored dress? I personally would think you should wear lighter colors but again I don't know cause I haven't really been to one. The only dresses I own are dark and I don't have a lot of money right now to just go out and buy a new dress. What do you guys think?

Also I don't know how relevant this is to the question but is a wig hard to keep on? I don't know anything about wearing wigs but if someone lost their hair and had to wear one would it go on pretty easily or could it easily come off (sorry for sounding like a blonde)?

The lease for my current apartment ends soon and I am not renewing it... meaning I need to find a new apartment asap. Unfortunately my work has been extremely busy lately and I feel like I'm working 24/7 so by the time I get home all the management offices are closed. I was able to get some applications for apartments on my last day off but I won't have another day off until sometime next week. However I do have just enough time to turn them in tomorrow before work so I was trying to fill them out tonight. I forgot how lengthy they are and they require references from employers and landlords. If I want to get these applications in tomorrow I won't have time to get the references and if I wait til my next day off the apartment I want could be taken (1 already is since I saw it last week). So my question is will they still take applications with everything else filled out if I give them my references in the next couple days or does everything have to be filled out completely? Are they lenient? I mean I'd be giving them enough relevant information as well as my driver's license number to do a credit check and an application fee so they should be ok with that but I don't know. What do you guys think? Do you have any experience from this?

If I had an apartment that did not include electric in their utilities what would I generally be paying for it? I would probably have my laptop on a lot and the lights and of course the fridge. Those are the things I think I would use the most. Would I be paying a lot?

I got an email inviting me to join a group. All the email basically says is click here to join now but yeah right I'm not gonna join something that I have no clue what it is. I've tried everything I could think of to search for the group to see it first but I get nothing. What's with that??
