Hey I'm Alex! :D I'm a writer. I love Xbox, hanging out with friends, books, blah blah blah. :P Please answer my questions if you can! Thx. :)

  • IS THIS A GOOD PROLOGUE? OPINIONS PLEASE!! :D?

“Come out little human,” the Shrasky growled. He turned around hoping to see the boy there. “Do not play with me mortal I’m not going to wait all day!”

They were in a clearing in the woods. Blue moonlight poured through the trees casting eerie shadows across the clearing. It was nearly winter. The rain, turning almost to snow on its way down, hit the ground hard, splashing at Arlic’s feet.

The Shrasky was like a creature from Hell, standing there in the pouring rain. Blood was dripping from his body from a previous kill. His horns gleamed in the dim light. They jutted out of the sides of his head and then cured upward in a wicked sharp point. Arlic had glowing green eyes. He had no shirt, just jagged brown shorts that were cut off just below the knee.

His assistant was about ten feet away, also looking for the boy. This would be a simple kill; what his master wanted, he would get. Arlic heard the familiar clap of thunder in the distance. There was a noise behind him as the boy stepped out of the shadows holding a bow and arrow.

“Ha! There he is,” the other Shrasky said with a triumphant smile. His teeth were a bad sight: Razor sharp fangs, yellow and bloody. He was a bit smaller than Arlic with smaller horns and less muscular arms. Even then, he towered over the boy who must have been eight or nine years old at most.

The boy’s eyes were full of hatred but he never spoke a word. He dressed in rags and he looked very skinny but he was amazingly confident. Even Arlic was almost impressed. The bow and arrow was dark brown with an unreadable print along the side. The boy looked comfortable holding it and was probably very skilled with it. He also had a bag over his shoulder with white arrows sticking out of it.

Arlic advanced and his assistant—who was only there if something went wrong—watched from behind. The rain was coming down harder now. The boy lifted his bow, pulled out an arrow, and fired. The arrow traveled fast and amazingly accurate hitting its target square in the chest. Arlic looked down and merely laughed—as if getting shot by an arrow was good news.

“Come on—,” Arlic began but before he had finished talking the boy pulled out another arrow. And another, and another. They buried themselves in Arlic’s chest. Blood spurted, but did not seem to have affected him. Arlic continued forward, not bothering to take the arrows out of his muscular, bleeding chest.

The rain—still coming down—fell even harder than before. More thunder could be heard, closer this time. The boy reached to his side only to find that he was out of arrows. He threw down his bow and turned to run. Before he had the chance, Arlic grabbed him by the scruff of his neck like he was a child and dragged him back.

“Hold him,” Arlic said to his assistant.

    “Yes sir.”

Arlic lifted his hand revealing sharp claws extended from his fingers. Suddenly, without warning, he slashed his hand across the boys face and laughed as the boy screamed in pain.

    His assistant laughed dumbly.

“Shut up,” Arlic demanded. He didn’t like to be annoyed and if he did get annoyed, there would be quite a mess to clean up.

Arlic sliced the boys face a couple more times. He rarely needed a weapon besides his deadly, ugly body.

“Well,” Arlic said with a grin, “Any last words?” He smiled some more, just to set the mood for the kill. This was his favorite part of all assignments: Torture the victim until near death and then sometimes, without warning, kill them.

The boy looked up and spit blood at the Shrasky. “Inferos will have you for this,” he mumbled.

“The god of the underworld?” Arlic snorted. Then he stared straight into the boy’s eyes and said: “You first.”

With a swift movement, Arlic extended one finger and sliced downward. The boy’s torso opened and his entrails fell out of his body onto the dirty ground. The other Shrasky quickly let go of the body. Blood poured out of the wet carcass like water from a hose.

Arlic smiled in satisfaction. Then he turned and walked away without saying a word.

“Where to now?” his assistant asked.

Arlic looked back. “Now, to Embyro. We must tell him the good news.”

“And what about King Annuldus? How will we get rid of him?”

“He is old and he won’t last much longer. Right now we wait for our next orders. Soon we will attack and it will be all over.” Arlic smiled. “Now let’s head back.” They walked away, leaving the bloody mess behind.

Rain poured down as everyone in the kingdom thought the same thing: Hope.

    Obviously, it's fantasy. :P

Please give any opinions! I can take constructive criticism however don't be rude just to be rude.

This is my first attempt at a "big story."

    Thanks in advance!!
