I am 20. I am pretty shy. I am Canadian. =) My favourite hockey team is the Toronto Maple Leafs. I am a hockey guy - I bleed hockey. Hockey is my life. =)

  • Haven't been here for a while...?

Man, I haven't been back in the hockey section for ages/months! School has been so time consuming I completely neglected the good ol' hockey section of Yahoo! Answers. =(

So what's new here? Everything still good? I'm sure everybody is extremely elated that hockey is back in action!!!!

Let's think of the most generic, broad and not-well thought out question I can think of so this question can stay here. lol

    Hmmm....

Out of all the new jerseys that teams either have or will soon release this season, which one has been your favourite so far?

I'm personally really digging Minnesota's green jersey they've worn a couple times that I've seen.

    I mean, really, come on....Klinkhammer?

    That's so cool! =D

What other awesome NHL names can you think of? =D

  • What if Judge Judy was the judge in this whole Pheonix Coyotes saga?

I'm flipping through the channels right now on TV tyring to find something to watch (but to no avail) and I passed Judge Judy.

So a random thought popped in my head:

Instead of Judge Redfield T. Baum, Judge Judy was the judge.

What do you think would be different in this whole saga?

Do you think she would instill the fear of God on Bettman or Balsillie?

Would this whole saga be a lot more hilarious if she was the judge?

Anything else you can think of?

Don't mind the random question. =D

I'm still recovering from my first week of university and trying to get my mind off of school....it's so different than highschool. But that's different.

Have a great day everyone! =)

  • How did this "invasion" of the hockey section from the basketball section begin?

Can one of my fellow friends of the HOCKEY section please tell me? =)

    Thanks! =)

(Or is it one of those things I'd rather not know about? lol)

I find it really pathetic. This happens every few months with a different sport I've noticed.

Hockey question - So I'm starting my first day of university tomorrow (finally done highschool! Yay! xD) so I was wondering if there are any current hockey (NHL-wise) players who went to college or university and have some interesting degrees out there? Any you can think of that you know?

    Thanks! =D

  • The Red Wings invite Dan Cloutier to training camp...?

So I was just looking around TSN.ca like I usually do, and I came across this:

    http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=290055

The Red Wings have given Dan Cloutier a try-out at training camp. I almost completely forgot Cloutier existed. lol

So my question is to you is.... your thoughts? xD

    Have a good day.

  • Leafs sign Rikard Wallin....?

I just read an article on Sportsnet that says the Leafs have signed Jonas Gustavsson's teammate from Sweden, Rickard Wallin to a one-year deal.

Article here if you wish to read:

    http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/2009/07/09/leafs_wa...

Leafs fans or not: your thoughts on this?

How do you think he will do in Toronto?

Is this a good signing for Brian Burke for the time being?

  • Kovalev not returning to the Canadiens..?

What do you think of this?

    Here is the story:

    http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=283860

But yeah, what are your opinions on this? Is this the right thing for the Habs to do?

Where do you think Kovalev will go?

As a Leaf fan, I feel weird for asking questions about the Montreal Canadiens, but oh well! lol

    Discuss.

    Thank you.

    Have a nice day. =)

  • Will Hossa sign back with Pittsburgh and then Pittsburgh faces Detroit in the finals agaian next year...?

    And then Detroit wins? lmao.

Okay, that's not the question: just some stupid thing me and my friend were talking about.

    My REAL question is...

Now that hockey is essentially over, how will you cope for the summer without any hockey?

I know there is the draft, the awards and the free agents. blah blah blah....but how will you cope with no playing?

It's gonna be another long summer....lol

    Have a good day.

  • Who, in your opinion, is the greatest American born hockey player?

So, I was just reading on Yahoo! Sports right now because I am bored, that Mike Modano has decided to come back and play for a 20th (!!) season. I'm sure you all know this by now anyways.

But anyways, in the article, it said that he is the highest scoring U.S. born player in NHL history.

So after reading that, it made me think of who the greatest American born player is. I can't think of answer. My favourite American born player would be...hmm....Jeff Finger! =D (Go Leafs! lol)

But anyways, my question to you, my fellow friends in the hockey section, is:

Who is the greatest American born player in NHL history in your opinion?

Who is the greatest American born goalie in NHL history in your opinion?

    And why.

    Discuss. Thank you.

    Have a good day. =)

  • Vezina Trophy finalists announced...?

So I just went onto NHL.com and I see that the Vezina Trophy (my favourite trophy. I don't know why) finalists were announced.

    The nominees are...

    Tim Thomas

    Niklas Backstrom

    Steve Mason

So my very simple question to you guys is: who do you think will win?

Who is most worthy of winning?

Who, who is not on that list, should be on?

Which 3 goalies would make better nominees?

Here's the story if you want to read:

  • Which player(s) have probably played their last game on your team?

So before I get into my question...I'm kinda scared. I just went out for a bit to pick up something and came back on the computer and I see all these Penguin avatars everywhere. I don't know what it is, but they appear to be from the soccer section. I'm not sure.

Can somebody care to explain what it's all about? Thanks.

Now, onto my question...which players do you think have probably played their last game with your team?

I know for the Leafs it appears that Gerber is a goner for sure. And I wouldn't be surprised if Jason Blake is gone, but I doubt he'll leave. I know a couple of other players will probably leave, too, but I'm not sure.

Boring question I know, but it's Sunday and I don't feel like thinking. =)

    Have a good day!

  • If you were to sign an NHL contract...?

what would be the first thing you would buy?

(I know, I know, lame question. Spare me your criticisms. lol)

Doesn't matter how much your contract is worth.

I would personally buy a...hmm...I don't even know an answer to my own question. How lame. lol

    But maybe you guys do!

What would you buy if you signed an NHL contract?

  • To my fellow hockey section regulars..? (read on)?

Is it just me or have you noticed a lot more Vancouver Canucks "fans" since the playoffs started?

Yeah, I'm bored...so I'm asking this question. lol

But I've noticed since the beginning of the playoffs the hockey section actually has some Vancouver Canucks fans.

Now, me, as well as you, my follow hockey section regulars, who are in this section throughout the season as well as playoffs and off-season - basically year round - know that there has not really been a regular user who is a fan of the Canucks on this site.

And I've noticed since the playoffs have started several "fans" of the Canucks have just suddenly been asking questions here.

I don't really care, I just found it interesting.

    And yeah....

    Bandwagoners?

Or am I just plain crazy? =D

    Have a nice day. =)

  • How would you feel if the NHL expanded the playoffs from 16 teams to 20?

So I was just talking to my friend about the playoffs and he sent me this link to an old TSN article/post by Bob McKenzie from April 8th, 2005, so just a little over 4 years ago.

    http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=120872&hubname=nhl

And my friend thinks if the NHL expanded to 20 teams that it would be "friggin' great" for the NHL but has no justification for his answer. lol

I know this article is a little out of date, but the subject manner of expanding the playoffs from 16 to 20 teams is still a good debate.

    So what do you think?

Do you think it's a good idea?

How would you feel if the NHL did do this?

    Pros and cons?

    Please discuss.

    Thank you.

  • Who's ready for the bandwagoners?

So..the season is over. The playoffs are here! It should be an exciting time in the hockey world as well as in the Yahoo! Answers hockey section....but after witnessing last years playoffs and the abundance of bandwagoners on this site, it was unbelieveable as well disgusting to see. lol

Now for this year's playoffs we have some teams that have either never made the playoffs (Coloumbus), have not made the playoffs for a couple of years (St. Louis, Chicago) or did not make it last year but did this year (Carolina, Vancouver).

I apologize to all the true fans of any of the playoff teams and to the Yahoo! Answers hockey section which will soon be flooded with questions from the bandwagoners.

So, yeah, this leads me to my question of: for any of those who were here last year, or maybe even the year before that, are you ready for the bandwagoners!? lol

  • Do you think Johan Franzen's contract extension is worth it?

I was just reading around on TSN.ca right now, and the front headline is:

Sources tell TSN Johan Franzen and the Detroit Red Wings have agreed to a long-term contract extension. Sources say the deal is believed to be a long one, upwards of nine or 10 years in order to keep the salary cap hit to a manageable level for the Red Wings.

Now, this sounds all fine and dandy. I like Franzen, he is a good player. But the one thing that has me skeptical about this deal is the "9 or 10 years" part. He is 29 right now, so he'll be there until he is around 39 or so.

Do you think this deal, however much it happens to be worth, is a good one for the Red Wings?

Do you think 9 or 10 years is too long?

    Discuss.

    Thank you.

    Have a nice day. =)

  • Have their been any hockey players in the NHL to have seizures on the ice?

So today was a pretty horrific day in school for me. I was in my class watching a movie for a project we were doing and then I just starting convulsing and stuff and starting having this seizure which lasted for about 30 seconds. When I snapped back to consciousness I just noticed everyone in my class staring at me because they thought I was faking my seizure. The only person who helped me was a good friend of mine who sits behind me. He reinacted the situation for me and I realized it looked pretty damn scary!

But anyways, I'm fine now and kind of scared something may happen like that again because nothing has ever happened like that before.

So after my experience today I was wondering if any hockey players in the NHL have had any seizures while on the ice, or on the bench or maybe even in the change room...or anything.

    Have their been any?

    Discuss, please.

    Thank you. =)

  • If the Flyers could do it....?

I was just doing some thinking about what the Leafs - as well as every other team - could do during the off season to potentially make their team a hell of a lot better. (This is how bored I get after I finish my homework. =D)

I remembered in the 2007 offseason how the Philadelphia Flyers signed a couple of free agents, drafted a couple guys, and so on and really improved in the 2007-08 season. They had 101 points in 2005–06 then went to 56 points in 2006–07 then back up to 95 points last season.

Now, as for the Leafs (yes, I do love my Leafs) they've had a couple of mediocre seasons at best...but now with Brian Burke as the GM of the team, I believe he'll do some big things over the summer (hopefully).

So taking into consideration the Flyers huge turnaround a couple of years ago, what do you - Leafs fans or not - think Brian Burke will have to do to make the Leafs a more improved team for next season.

If the Flyers could do it, can't the Leafs? =P lol

Please discuss. Thank you. Have a good day.

  • How different would the NHL goaltending records be if every goalie in history wore the same sized pads?

I know this may seem like a foolish question, but after seeing Martin Brodeur's face plastered everywhere around NHL.com for the past few days....it got me thinking. Seeming Brodeur is said to use "smaller" pads compared to other goalies of past and present, and Patrick Roy (also known as Sloppy Seconds on the all-time win list now. lol. I know, that was lame. =D) was known for experimenting with pad sizes - usually bigger pads, as I've read - it made me think of my question of how different would the NHL goaltending records - for any goalie at any time in NHL history - be if every goalie in history wore the same sized pads?

    What do you think?

How different do you think they would be?
