  • Property rights vs. mineral rights?

With the advent of sideways drilling have the laws changed as far as using an owners property to access the mineral rights owned by another party?

  • Can I Frankenstein my old Tivo to make a new Tivo HD work with Direct TV?

This is a pretty specialized question. I'm hoping to get lucky. D-tv stopped using Tivo but I kept using my old one(2002 model) until it crapped out. Fan went out. I'm wondering if I can buy a new Tivo HD and soder in some panel(the old one had a card) to make it work with Direct Tv. If you know of a website where I can find out stuff like this it would help as well. I also have an old Xbox I'd like to convert to an extra hard drive for storing tv shows. I'm thinking it shouldn't be too difficult to alter it to make it work.

Any advice or suggestions appreciated. Even if it's to forget about it because it's harder then it sounds.

  • How can you tell who removed a question?

Very often I find I've spent 10 or 15 minutes fleshing out a detailed response to a question and then I try to send it and "poof" I get the 'This question has been removed' message. Very annoying. Is there a way to tell if the asker removed it or if it was removed by Yahoo? I don't see the question as being a violation of policy so I don't get why it's removed. Also, is there a yahoo techie Answers email address to consult with on stuff like this and what is it?

  • I want to adopt a young dog but I'm on a rotating shift. What's the best breed for me?

I'd probably have to crate him when I'm not there to keep him from chewing everything up. I'd prefer a medium sized dog. I've never like the little yappy or poodle type. I like dobermans and retrievers and terriers. I'm worried about how stressful it would be for the dog to have me coning in at odd hours. My parents will be living with me for a while but they are very old and won't be able to play with him much. I'm afraid my son will mostly ignore him so he will be my dog. Any advice or should I forget about it?

  • What's the best looking large tree to plant in my front yard?

I'm in Kingwood Texas which is just north of Houston. I believe we're still close enough to the Gulf to be considered coastal. I lost a huge oak when Ike hit last year and I need to replace it but I need something that grows faster then oak.

  • How do I get advance notice of when concert tickets go on sale?

I always miss the boat. I hear a band is coming and jump on the internet and all I can find is scalper prices. I'm not paying 200 bucks a seat. I really wanted AC/DC tickets at the Toyota Center on Nov. 8th in Houston but apparently it's too late. I used to hear about it on the radio but radio bites these days. Blah, blah, blah all day long. Shut up and play the record I say.
