  • throttle/governor on a cheap diesel diesel motor?

I have been given a "cheap" diesel generator made from china. It starts alright, but seems to be reving very high and poping and spitting until it has ran for a while. It surges some times as well. I don't really like it much and haven't used it to power anything other then to load test it a bit. I have checked the motor and all it has is a simple governor on it with no adjustments? I am not sure even where to start adjusting anything on this. Any body have one of these and same problem? Please I was given it, I would like to get a little service out of it , not just junk it... Fuel, oil, air filter are all new....so? help?

  • 1979 evinrude 70 trim/tilt?

Someone put a tilt on this outboard, it original was a manual tilt. All the lock downs are gone nothing locks the motor to the bottom trim bar. .I can tilt the motor down until it stops on the bar . Question is, will the motor come up on it's own under power? Kick back? or is the tilt on this also the trim depending on where you set the bar. Can one raise or lower this unit under power to affect the trim of the boat. I know this sounds stupid, but i have never used one of these units, and would like a brief explain , if it's both.

  • 1994 Chev 2500 clutch Slave?

It's has a slow leak. I have a new one. Any body change one on this model? Do i have to drop the bell housing in order to repair it? I am asking because my Haynes book was no help . I have only had a brief look at it, and don't know how it is mounted. The truck is a two wheel drive manual of course.

  • Mercury Marine Thruster IX7 1998 model ?

Was given this model of bow trolling motor since i fish. Person giving it say "he used it twice, but didn't fish". Meaning he used his boat just for tubing, knee boarding and the like. It's in factory fresh condition and works, but I have been pulling what's left of my hair out trying to find a manual, or info on it. Motor guide, Mercury, brunswick web sites where no help. Any body have one of these beasts?

  • how is the stator FRAME on a evinrude 30/1989 attached to the power head?

I have a 1989 evinrude 30. Got the flywheel off ,and can clearly see the timer and stator. Now, i need to know how the stator FRAME, is attached to the power head. I know about the screws holding the parts on, what's under the Frame? how do i get it off the power head? Is it just a fiction fit? It's loose and hitting the flywheel, again what holds it on the power head?

It's has been started and run in a tank and with the old clamp and garden hose already. Wasn't much cleaning setting or anything. Sounds great, but....can't seem to find anyone who has one one of these units for long. Get answers from...dump it to evinrude gotta be good.... has someone run one of these units? anybody? comments on problems is what i am looking for. Is this thing a dog or a champ?

  • tow with the the outboard up or down?

30 hp evinrude on the back of a beefy old 14.5 fiberglass boat. Nice easyloader trailer. When the motor is down about 3 inches to the ground. So i tow it in the up motor up..... I been poo pooed by a few people that i will wreck the boat doing this.....I figure that towing with it up is better then smashing it on the highway or speed bump . Am i right? I am a new boater...

  • Have i destoryed my outboard motor?

Last weekend was a balmy one for april , plus 23 c or around 80ish f. . I test ran my 30 merc outboard , with the old garbage can trick. It ran well. Not using my brain, I cleaned up the garbage can, watched the water drain out of the leg, and left the motor in the down posistion.

This weekend it went down to minus 18c . I am worried sick i have broken the motor open will what ever water that was left over in this motor, or broke the water pump or whatever is in there for water cooling.

Not knowing much about outboards, and not been able to fire it back up and see if any damage has been done, is it possible that any water that was left over from this wasn't enough to do engine damage?

anyone else that has done this to a 30hp merc?

  • Old Merc 30 Hp two stoke? any one own one?

Bought a older boat that came with a 30hp merc on the back. Not even sure of the year of it. Think it is the late 80 or early 90 prehaps. Looks new, even under the cowling is very clean. All i been able to do is put it into a garbage can and fire it up. It starts almost right away without any starter run on. Shifts into gear smoothly. Problem is after idling for a few minutes , it kind of burps and quits like a misfire. starts right up again. Before you ask, i am sure it needs some tlc. But is this model even worth the effort to get it idling better? or just a old motor that should be put to pasture? I \could buy a much newer motor, more power and better gas ect.....but if this one is even so-so on power, ect....why not run it out? plus also the cost factor of buying a new motor . I need to know if anyone has run one of these... buythe way..it will be pushing a 14 foot fiberglass some what deep hull..and pretty heavy .phew...thanks!

  • Chev 6.5 TD fuel filter nut?

New at a 6.5 turbo diesel. I want to change out the old filter on this. A plastic nut, no problem. Went to turn it off, won't budge. Got the bright idea i would use A oil filter strap, not the band type, but strap type. Didn't work after I busted my knuckle a few times. Any easy way to get this thing off? I really don't want to bust up the old nut as there is a real lack of parts locally...

  • 1985 th400 transmission how many towing miles?

I own a 1985 silverado with a 6.2 and 4 speed auto th400 ? transmisson. It's been out twice. Once for a adjustment, and two years ago for a front seal.

It's has been great for me as I have over 478,000 kms on it.

I have changed the filter and oil always every year.

Now to the question. I pull a 26 foot 5th wheel, and work the truck pretty hard between drive and overdrive. And yes it spends a whole lot of time in drive. I want to hear from somebody that owns the same truck setup, find out if i am really starting to push my luck, or it they find as long as you keep it serviced, it will go far.

    And yes it been updated.

    Thanks
