I put mistake in inverted commas because here was no mistake about it. "Staying the course", as the GOPers now say in stutter form, is having no effect on reducing the threat of terror and had nothing to do with 911 in the first place.

So what does "staying the course" now mean, since the Iraqis are no closer to taking over themselves and there's no end in sight?

Only China and the US won't sign. Landmines kill and blow the legs off some 20 000 kids in Africa a year. Could it be that the US still manufactures 70% of these landmines, and don't want to lose the business?
