  • How did Hideki Matsui play 163 games in 2003?

Yahoo had him playing 163 and I thought maybe it was just a mistake but Baseball Reference has him playing 163 as well. There was no 1 game playoff as the Yankees won the division by 6 games. I just can't figure it out so any info will help.

  • Why does everyone think steroids are such a big deal in baseball?

Bud Selig wants to make it seem like he is saving the game but he is the reason it all happened. After the strike in 94 baseball was in trouble and was saved in 98 by Sosa and Macgwire breaking Maris' record and Selig didn't try to stop it. All along the owners and players association knew it was going on why do you think it took so long for drug testing? We all watched, we all didn't care, its what brought us back to the game. Now all this stuff comes out and who cares? They took drugs that made them stronger, didn't make the players hit the ball, made them hit it further and is that really a crime? Baseball parks are so small now anyways a ball hit 450 would still be hit 420 and in most ball parks would still be a home run. We all say how bad they are but think if you were in the athletes shoes and heard you can get bigger and stronger faster, you wouldn't think twice at that time. Basically what im saying is, it is what it is, pouting isnt going to change anything

  • After some of todays Bowl Games who should be drafted higher?

    Colt Brennen or Chad Henne

Everyone is raving about how good Brennen is but i think he is just a total system QB.

Henne runs a pro style offense and i think he could fit right in, in the pros.

"Experts" say Brennen is a first rounder and Henne is second or third or something like that.

I dont know if this game hurts Brennens stock or if Henne's helps his but i would take Henne over Brennen any day. If Henne drops to the 2nd 3rd or deeper into the draft he may end up like another U of M QB. Anybody ever hear of Tom Brady?

Sorry if my opinion is biased cause im a Michigan fan but i dont see the hype around Brennen and i think Henne has been a better QB in a better conference for a better team.

  • Kevin Jones, Fred Taylor, or Laurence Maurony?

I have one spot with 3 RB open, my automatic is Westbrook. Im thinking Taylor but he is facing the stealers. Kevin Jones has a good game every now and then and Maurony hasnt done jack all year and maybe against the Jets he will but im guessing Pats will throw all day long. Lions play the Chargers who will be without Shawn Merrimen so will that make the Lions game better or what?

  • Does anyone else think the Yankees trade for Johan is stupid?

I'd love to have Santana in pinstripes dont get me wrong, but giving up Melky Cabrera and Phil Hughes, come on. I really hope this falls through because that is just too much for one player. Give up Melky and what do you have left in the outfield? A bunch of over paid players on the decline. Melky is an up and coming perennial Gold Glover and his bat isnt bad either. Phil Hughes was coveted so long and in the playoffs showed the big stage doesnt scare him. Santana is just like A-rod has a Cy Young (In Rodriguez case MVP) year but in the playoffs just show his greatness. I really think this would be a bad trade, Yankees need to stick to their young guys thats how they won in the 90s after all.

  • Does anyone believe someone other than A-rod deserves the AL MVP now?

A lot of the time the MVP comes down to who performs in the final month and right now A-rod is definetly outplaying Magglio and Magglio is still doing very well. It appears Rodriguez is finishing the season just as he started it but is now pushing his team into the playoffs.

  • Who should win the Gold Glove at 2nd base in the AL?

I know many think that Polanco is the favorite because he has made 0 errors this year that is very impressive for a position that gets many balls hit there but Robinson Cano does have a higher Range Factor which means he accounts for more outs in a game then Polanco, he's turned 38 more double plays, has 101 more assists, 28 more put outs, and 140 more put outs. I think in the end the 0 errors will get Polanco the glove but I think Cano really deserves one this year.

  • Is the FSN Detroit radar gun accurate?

I ask this because I watched the Yankees-Tigers game and on their radar on the pitch the struck out Magglio it was 101 MPH when i watched replays on ESPN they showed it with the YES Networks Telecast and the same pitch on there gun was at 98 MPH. Like most people know when Verlander threw his no-hitter in the 9th inning he hit 102 MPH and nobody believed that. I don't want to say that they are trying to intimidate any teams because it was a Yankees pitcher pitching so i just think they have a fast gun.

  • So how should Georgie Porgie feel today?

He rips on the Yankees and after the Tigers blew them out the first game the Yankees come back strong and take the next three on great pitching and timely hitting.

    17 AnswersBaseball1 decade ago
  • Is Georgie Porgie a real honest baseball fan?

He doesn't like Bonds because he is accused of taking steroids yet his favorite team has two players, Sheffield and Pudge, being accused of steroids also and then Neifi Perez testing positive for steroids. So can someone like that be a real honest baseball fan?

  • Why are Yankees and Orioles finishing a game that got rained out in the 8th inning?

I don't understand because the rule is its a game after 4 1/2 if the home team is winning and 5 if they are losing.

  • Should the Yankees trade Alex Rodriguez at the deadline?

If they are out of contention i think this was make sense because its becomes more and more likely that he is going to opt out of his contract. Trading him could bring them in a lot of talent in return and probably could booster a team up to keep Boston out of the World Series. Also Abreu should be on the move too. Give me your thoughts.

  • I think its time for Yankees to lower the payroll, anyone agree?

As i Yankee fan this years inconsistency is killing me. All that money for nothing and i was looking at past year and when they were winning their payroll was under 100 million. Clemens was getting paid 10 mill and all of a sudden he was a prorated 28 mill not even in his prime? I guess good marketing by him by getting vastly overpaid. Since 2000 yankees have spent over 10 millions a year for players like Mussina, Giambi, Kevin Brown, Randy Johnson, and many others. Mussina and Giambi were good for a few years but now are getting paid way to much. I think its time for them to work on getting young players like the Jeter, Posada, Williams, Pettitte, Rivera, and more recently Cano, Wang and Cabrera. I know they are loaded with young talent not quite major league ready but i think its time to unload some old guys and get a team with good chemistry.

  • Does Manny really deserve to be an All-Star this year?

Their are so many AL outfielders with better stats then him in almost every category yet he is still in. I think Sheffield should be in even though he is a DH now and Granderson def should be in over Manny. Just look at stats for AL outfielders and Manny really isnt near the top in anything.
