I have a solid cast iron Colt Peacemaker?
The gun was sold as a holster block, to mold leather to the shape of the gun without using a live firing gun. I've also read that this kind of gun was used as prop guns in movies. My question is, would anyone like to comment on this non-gun? The gun is a true casting of a Civilian model of the Colt Peacemaker with a 4 or a 4.5 in barrel that is the same length as the eject rod. There is still visible in the left side grip the Colt logo. If anyone is interested in this piece, let me know, as I am willing to sell it for the right price.
5 AnswersHunting9 years agosome history on my 1847 colt walker?
I have a 1847 Colt Walker (dragoon?) with a 27xx serial number and no easy access to Colt records. Can anyone give me an idea when it was made and if it has any historical interest? As for the collectors, it is in very bad shape! (No grips, no trigger guard, and needs a trigger spring among the list of things needed.) As for my plans, I plan to place it in a shadow box and hang it on my wall. (Unless someone wishes to purchase it from me, just let me know!)
2 AnswersHunting9 years agogiving todays tech what would a biplane look like if there were no monoplanes?
If a monoplane hadn't been invented and giving all of today's technology, what would an airplane look like today?? Take into account, carbonfibre, kelvar, light weight metals, and light weight-high horsepower engines, just how far would we have taken the bi-plane?? Yes, I know, bi-planes are still being manufactured, and that you can still get a high tech twowinger, but these are just (to my thinking) rehash designed aircraft. There are bi-planes used for airshow stunts. There are bi-planes that are but are not true biplanes (I.E. the Rutans come to mind.) So, what could we have done to the orignal designed aircraft to truly modernize them?
B.T.W. This is a nonsensable question, as we do use the monoplanes, and I know that the "minds-of-the-times" proved that a monoplane is faster, more stable, or gave someother explanation to do away with the biplane. I just would like to see what others think!
6 AnswersAircraft1 decade agowhat weapons would you take for an extended stay in a remote location??
If you had to stay in a location that was both remote and inhospitible, and if you could only take 5 guns with you which would you take? To make this easier, no one is hunting you, i.e. in a war zone. You have a place to camp and plenty of water, but, no food! And large carivores are present, with large agressive game animals also. My thought is Alaska or Siberia or ?
MY guns would be (with ammo and spare parts)
Remington 870 12ga (with bird buck and slugs)
Mauser 8mm and scope
a .223 rifle such as a Ruger ranch
a .22 pistol with a long barrel
and lastly a Charter Arms .44spl Bulldog for defense
what would you have??
14 AnswersHunting1 decade agoi've been disturbed about how we celebrate the 4 of July!!?
Today ,a t the company that I work for,we had a dinner served to us by the upper management. What disturbed me was that they wore red white and blue sparkle vest, and big floppy Uncle Sam top hats, and ,of all things, a red white and blue feather boa!! All I could think is "Are we celebrating a national holliday with clowns???" To say the least, I lost any and all of my appitite when I saw that! So tell me, what would you have done in my shoes? I left the area very mad but saying nothing. Would you have done the same or would you say or do something??
28 AnswersCivic Participation1 decade agoengineers that are "book" smart and not practically smart??
I know some engineers that try out new designs and then put them into production without working out the "bugs." Now, I know that sometimes the bugs don't often come out before hand but give me a break, you make the big bucks! They (the engineers) just don't seem to care about the small stuff until someone has cut their finger off or the product falls on someone! Do they not teach practical engineering anymore? Does anyone feel the same as me, or am I in the minority here?
14 AnswersEngineering1 decade agoi would like to talk to an aircraft engineer about hovercraft design?
I'm curious about hovercraft and have some questions and ideas to bounce off someone who can give me an answer(s). If you are such an engineer please email me at yahoo.
My questions deal with controls and airflow.
3 AnswersEngineering1 decade agoIn a geologic formation, what would cause different types of soil (i.e. yellow sand w/red clay and white sand?
I know of a place near my home that shows yellow sand and red clay and white sand along with the loam and debries of recent ages. I know that red clay has a high content of iron but the white and yellow sand confuses me. All this is in a space of approx 1200 sq yards! Anybody care to comment??
