  • Is a foundation repair possible at this point?

Purchased home May 2016, immediately remodeled bathroom with roll-in tile, entire floor & walls for wheelchair use.

Home needed some minor foundation issues repaired BEFORE this remodel, but contractor did not address this issue, and the remodel commenced.

What choices do we have at this point? We spent $19k on the remodel, which was nearly every dollar in savings. Now we have about $6k saved up for the foundation work...but...egad, what can we do?

A foundation guy said that we run into the issue of destroying the remodel when the foundation is tweaked.

What alternatives do we have? Can insurance help? Are we stuck with a sloping house and progressively separating walls and floor connections?

  • Lender asked for deposit BEFORE moving forward with working up loan; why?

Before they will proceed with working up our conventional loan, this lender says they will not proceed with paperwork until they have a cash deposit in hand.

I have never heard of that before.

We are getting pre-approved, pre-qualified because we are house hunting.

Our FHA lender did NOT ask for any deposit from us, and are ready to proceed once we make an offer on a home. Mar 3016

  • Was my car "jimmed" with at the auto shop?

I told them that I needed to have it aligned because I had bumped some curbs, the tires had been rotated, oil changed and it seemed like a good time. I have a "lifetime" alignment for this car with this shop.

There were some very minor noises, quiet humms, and there seemed like the car ran stiffer. So I was thinking perhaps some shocks were wearing out. My brakes have squealed since day one, but only when the car is cold upon startup. Have had brakes checked multiple times by this shop and dealership, yet no mention of any problems until now.

It is a 2006 Nissan Murano, bought Dec 2006, today's mileage 44,850. Only owner.

The shop on the saturday before Christmas said I needed new tires, struts, brakes and shocks. I was heasing out of town for a week, so I drove some 160 miles round trip. Now home for a week, the car seems to squeal, screetch grind and run rougher.

This came so suddenly, quoted me some $3500 for the whole nine yards of repairs and new tires. I went into shock and came close to telling the technician that this repair recommendation was a ruse to bring in business. Up to this moment, this national shop has been on the level, but I am beginning to think that companies are pressuring their staff to bring in any kind of business they can.

Another note along the same line is that the 4 tires I had bought in June 2010, come to find out, they had no mileage wear rating...so the tire company said. I can not comprehend how in the world I would have researched the right tire, only to have bought so stupidly. Again, I find myself wondering what is true?

What do you suggest? Any reliable places out there that are truthful?

The shop I can't mention here, but they are national, you would know of them, and they seem to have franchises, so some are honest and some are not. I caught one franchise in a dead to rights lie one time (they faked a steering wheel leak). The shop I have used was top shelf until this incident. Same management.

  • Pay off Credit Cards first or Auto Loan?

Pay off the credit cards...at interest rates of 10-22%

    or

Pay off the auto loan...interest rate at 3.991%

Goal: Purchase a home, paying down debts and saving. Debts are not as critical to have on paper when applying for a home loan, but car payment is Negative and hurts qualifying.

Either one will take the same amount of time, but I think that having credit card debt toward the final months make work to my favor more than paying off the auto loan at the last, as

I may need to jump quick on a home.

  • If Israel were out of the picture; how would the Arab countries be toward each other?

With Israel gone, would they embrace their fellow Arab countrymen? Would there be peace in the Middle East? Would there be a United States of Arabs (Arabia, Muslim, Islam)? Is Israel THE one and only roadblock to peace in the Middle East? Would the Palestinian people be elevated to equals among their fellow Arab nations? Or would Palestine continue to be the abandoned step-child among its people, used as a pawn against Israel?

I would like to hear opinions, as I believe that fighting Israel is just scapegoating problems the Arab peoples have among themselves, but perhaps I am wrong?

    Please advise and thanks!

  • If someone on SSDI goes on Subsidized housing, do the benefits on SSDI get cut?

My girlfriend is pulling just under $1300/mo SSDI. She is struggling to pay for housing, and is staying at area hotels, running from just under $700/mo (downtown) to $1050/mo uptown in the suburbs (our home town). I hate it that she is living in a dangerous city, surrounded by gangs, homeless characters, and lack of adequate police patrols. So, she is not budgeting too well, and she struggles to eat and enjoy her habits of smoking and drinking (a point we argue about).

She was wondering if she were to check into the Subsidized Housing, if her income from the SSDI would be "penalized", perhaps lowered, if she were to get assistance in this area.

I would love to be able to help get her into a condo or "permanent" apartment, so that she can be in a safer neighborhood, and live the rest of her life closer to me, so that I can help her easier. I want to help her periodically, but I am limited, too, because I am the primary caretaker for my 100% disabled hubby, and his needs come first.

If you aren't sure of this answer, where can I research for her? What suggestions do you offer?

    Thank you for your help!

  • Naturopathic medicine providers in Dallas/Ft. Worth area? Referring companies for this type practice?

Irregardless of what one may think, utilizing natural means does work. Needing to find a referral website that caters to doctors who either are entirely homeopathic or merge traditional medicine with homeopathic. A mix is better.

  • American Flag...Reversed...is this disrespectful or a non issue?

Saw a courier with the American flag (as a patch) on his uniform. The flag had the stars section in the upper right corner, rather than in the upper left corner. Is this a sign that the flag was perhaps made outside of America and the uniform company did not notice, or is this just sloppiness?

    Please advise and thanks.

My hubby suffered a stroke 10+ yrs ago that left him in a wheelchair. Besides the on-going painful daily effects of the stroke, he is having symptoms of peripheral neuropathy in his feet. I am trying to get some good reviews on using acupuncture to help with the pain.

  • What is it with the constant turnover of staff in apartment communities?

I've lived in this complex for nearly 5 years, and in that time, on 2nd owner and 4th or 5th management team? No sooner you get to know them by name and they know you...its a whole new crew, and you have to re introduce yourself to them.

This is common? Why can't they maintain stability? "Life expectancy" seems under a year.

  • Divorce Decree ERROR...Did not compell Ex to get my name off of home loan?

Nothing in my div decree mentioned that the house needed to be Refinanced in order to get my name off of the house that he got in the settlement.

My credit is being Destroyed because he continues to be 3 to 4 months behind since Oct 2009.

His balance on the note is 60,000 (about), and resale value would easily be 120k today, so he has good equity.

His interest rate is high at 8.5%, with taxes and such his mortgage is under $1,000/mt.

He is a lawyer. He claims "poor", is a defence attorney, practising since 1995.

My div lawyer is more of a snake than my Ex, so he is useless, and keeps pushing me away from remedying this.

I thought of contacting the judge who did our div, but he was fired because of his cronyism. The replacement judge is under a federal indictment of some sort.

My div was in spring of 2004.

How can I get this divorce decree glitch corrected?

My Ex refuses to refinance, and may harbor ill will because I remarried.

Is there any way to "force" my Ex's hand to refinance ?

My new hubby and I are trying to pay off my debts from my prior marriage and save to get a home; we live in an apartment for the entire 4 yrs of marriage. He is handicapped, so we are forced to retro any home we purchase...no choice, really. New homes cost anywhere from $95 on up per square foot to have built. Pre owned homes run as low as $65 per square foot, well made with minimal updates, so this is the route to go.

At our budget estimates, we will be debt free May of 2014, car paid off, too.

So that gives me time to get my credit back to excellent, if I can get that house off of my name.

And my new hubby has bad credit due to medical bills from his stroke in 2001, so he is trying to rebuild his credit, too.

    Please advise and thanks!
