  • Guitar feedback questions?

    Hi,

I have been having major feedback trouble with a few of my guitars. A few questions-

1.Does the type of wood have anything to do with feedback?

    2. Do all solid wood guitars have more trouble with feedback because they resonate more?

    3. Does the stain on the guitar matter?

    4. Does the location of the pickups affect it?

    5. Does the number of other instruments tie into it?

One of the places I play at turns the volume wayy up. (I have no control over this) this causes my guitar to practically shake. On a few chords. The speakers are aimed at an angle away from the stage. They also have padding on the walls. The sound guy always tells me to turn the volume on my preamp all the way up. I tried it a few times and it made it way worse. The pickups are more sensitive and it just doesn't help.

Can feedback damage my guitar or pickups?

I have two guitars that barely have any feedback, one has laminate back and sides ( this is why I don't just use that one) the other is a 12 string, all solid wood sapele, spruce top. Then the two guitars that have horrible feedback are all solid wood. One is a Taylor k22e, all solid koa, grand auditorium. The other is a Breedlove dread spruce top, Indian rosewood back and sides. The phase switch sometimes helps. I have tried a sound hole cover - it doesn't fit in the one and the other it cuts the tone a ton.

    Suggestions?

I can't change anything on the sound board, not allowed.

    Thanks!

  • I need help training this horse?

I am training my two year old stud, who will be gelded this fall. He has been agressive the past few days. Never shown any of this behavior before, I haven't changed anything in his training, we just moved on to the next step. He has been a dream to train until a few days ago. I can't figure out what happened. I haven't allowed him to get away with anything. I'm working with a trainer.

So we have been working on going out in a perfect circle, focused, not dropping the shoulder.. All that. I asked him to go out (same as always) and he pinned his ears at me. I don't allow my horses to ever pin their ears at me so I told him to get moving by stepping in with the flag. He reared up on his hinds and started kicking out at me with his front hooves. This is not acceptable behavior so I took my training flag and gave him a good whack on the belly. He came down and came at me. I sent a twist down the lead rope and gave him another whack on the shoulder.. Which caused him to leap sideways and kick out at me. He couldn't get me because I had the lead. I then bumped the lead to get him to yeild his hinds. He did and he stopped. But now everytime I ask him to walk out he pins his ears and jumps into me. I know I can't allow him to move my feet so I have been having him back up by jiggling the rope. Used to do this fine. What happened? He is now backing up just fine and yielding shoulders and hinds but he will not lunge with out freaking. Advice? I will talk to my trainer next week.
