I'm looking for a charity similar to Samaritan's Purse (http://www.samaritanspurse.org)/ but without the extremely overpaid salary (about $380,000 per year) the CEO, Franklin Graham, is receiving.

This organization meets all of my requirements, minus the salary, so I am looking for another charity with the aforementioned criteria.

My family and I signed a 13-month lease. Early Friday morning, a shot was fired in our +1000-unit apartment building, and the bullet struck our parked vehicle. The bullet lodged between the passenger-side window insulation and the roof of the car. Thankfully, because it was around 2 in the morning, no one was hurt.

We let management know of the incident, and someone else also reported they heard the gunshot. We filed a police report, and so did our management. They seem very genuine to rectify the situation as soon as possible, and they might know who did it but are not certain.

I have a young son, and although we do not leave our apartment in the middle of the night these gunshots could be fired anytime of the day. If this person is not evicted, I'm afraid to think of what else he could do or what the person he was shooting at (if anyone) will do to extract revenge.

Under California state law, is there any way we are able to break our lease without paying extra fees?

I need a place that will not require chains to get there.

I will randomly get a pop-up window with some kind of random advertising that is powered by Adssite. I have deleted the registry keys under "Adssite", but whenever I turn the comp off, it is mysteriously reinstalled. I have also removed it from the Add/Remove Programs list.

I have tried running the following programs to see if they can rid me of this pest but to no avail:

AVG

AVG Anti-Rootkit

Ad-Aware

Spybot

Prevx 2.0

SuperAntiSpyware

Kaspersky Virus Scan

Also, when I ran these programs I made sure to disable my system restore feature, as I read this might interfere with the programs finding some hidden bugs.

I'm assuming that Adssite has other registry keys under different names, and that's why I can't seem to uninstall it.

How do I get rid of this annoying program?

Because my chinchillas gnawed through the plastic base of their cage, there is now a 2-inch wide hole... and they continue to gnaw on it everyday!

Would it be safe for me to coat the hole with a solution of garlic powder and water? I figure they wouldn't like the taste of garlic so they would stop chewing at it.

Is there any other way I can fix the hole so I don't have to purchase a whole new base?

In the past month alone, I have seen 2 advertisements that made me angry and upset. It's this kind of attitude that makes people automatically think vegetarians and vegans are depriving themselves.

The first one was a full-page ad in a popular fashion & culture magazine that said: "We Love Vegetarians. More Meat For Us"... paid for none other than the beef industry (ha ha).

The second was a billboard in a neighboring city. I was driving home when I saw this enormous Jack In The Box burger filled with, like, 3 kinds of meats, and it said, "Vegetariano? Lastima!", which means "Vegetarian? Pity!" (Could also mean "What a shame" or "I sorry for you").

Have you seen this kind of propaganda lately?

I've never been to New York and am unfamiliar with their transit systems. Can anyone please provide a website (and step-by-step instructions) on how I would plan this trip, if it's possible? I prefer the train or subway, but the bus would be okay, too. Thanks in advance.

I just spent some time defending my beliefs over the phone with a friend. She just used every protest I've heard about veganism:

"Make sure I'm eating right and getting all my vitamins."

"Your son will have a hard time at school dealing with children who aren't vegetarian or vegan."

"I can understand not wanting to eat meat, but c'mon, cheese and milk aren't hurting the cow."

"You can't change the world."

"Enjoy life... why limit yourself on what you can eat? Why deprive yourself?"

"You don't know anything about nutrition; I suggest you and your husband take a cooking class."

This know-it-all claimed that since she's older and has dealt with vegetarians and vegans before, she knows more. I know I should just ignore everything she just said... after all, this is coming from the same person who thinks Diet Coke is better than regular Coke... but I still can't help but feel upset.

I am planning to get a tattoo in the very near future and after doing a little research, I've learned that a lot of tattoo ink can contain toxic chemicals. There is no way of finding out what the ingredients are since the companies do not need to disclose this information.

Normally, the ingredients of tattoo inks would not be a concern; however, I am [what some people would call me] a "health-nut/tree hugger" and do not want to put anything in or on my body which could pose a hazardous risk.

So far, the only companies I've found that use organic ingredients are Starbrite, Eternal and Stable. Does this mean these companies use natural, earth-based ingredients? Or do they still use some of the same ingredients the other companies use?

My family and I are "ovo-lacto" vegetarians and are thinking about making the transition to a vegan lifestyle. Our only problem is finding only ORGANIC cheese substitutes. We can live without the occasional egg, but we really like cheese and use it in a few dishes. The organic cheese we currently buy is from Trader Joe's or from Organic Valley.

I know Road's End Organics has something called Chreeze, which is vegan. Are there any other organic cheese substitutes??

I was checking my temporary internet files this morning and found a few things that I know I haven't accessed. For example, there are a few files named "searchresultsSBS", and when I click on it, it'll show that I "searched" for someone named "amanda iori", "web domain hosting", among other things.

I only use Firefox and found no suspicious activity when I looked in the history. When I opened up my Internet Explorer, however, there were records of my "visiting" other sites that I know I did not visit. Most were visited when both my husband and I were not even home, or sometimes when I was on the net. I am currently using a wireless adapter to connect to a wireless router, which is located in another room.

Is it possible that someone is "sharing" our internet connection? If so, is it also possible that this person's sites are being recorded onto my computer and therefore showing in my history folder and in my temp internet files??

When you order your hamburger to go, the restaurant will usually wrap your burger up in this "special" paper... sometimes waxed, sometimes not. I don't know it's proper name, so I can't find it on the net. What is the name of that paper?

i have a ps2 and the games play perfectly. i tried three of my brother's ps1 games, and all of them wouldn't play properly. first game i tried displayed the ps1 logo was in the background as the game loaded properly and the screen was flashing heavily. with the second game i tried, it flashed a little... stopped... then it kept flashing again when i started playing a stage. with the last game i tried my ps2 made strange scratchy noises and could not read the disc at all. his discs look fine... a little scuffle from normal wear & tear, but i don't believe it's because the discs are defective. could it be that my ps2 refuses to read ps1 games??
