Found soya protein hiding among my whey...?
I recently bought a 5kg tub of protein from a reputable online retailer, the product tastes great, mixes well etc, however, upon closer inspection, I've noticed that, in list order, the protein blend is as follows..
Whey Protein Concentrate, Calcium Caseinate, Whey Protein Isolate, Soya Protein Isolate and its this last one that is bugging me a bit, especially with all the controversy around soya, estrogen etc.
I've been very careful in trying to eliminate/keep to a minimum my soya intake - including avoiding soya milk etc
No individual % composition of weights per serving are shown for the protein blend and I am reasonably certain (assuming the manufacture has followed food labeling guidelines), that the soy isolate makes up the smallest contribution % to the overall blend. I am currently taking around 25-50g of this powder daily (I've mixed a batch up with some Nutrisport 90+ I had left over, on a 50/50 ration). So I am getting around 40-80g of protein from shakes alone - plus whatever meats/fish I eat
Given that I've recently bought this tub, I am minded to continue until done and that its, no more.
Basically, I have 3 options
1/Bin it (least favoured)
2/Get through is ASAP (2 mths I reckon ) and buy better quality next time
3/Mix it with a higher grade protein, thereby also reducing the individual soya dose per serving
Assuming the food labeling is correct (smaller percentage composition by items lower in the list order), I estimate I would be ingesting 25% of soya per overall blend maximum, which would probably be in the region of 10-20g daily max.
In terms of estrogen build up and any deleterious effects, would I be best to mix in a higher blend of protein, reducing the relative % of soya protein per serving - but over a longer time period? or munch through it ASAP?
Calcium Caseinate - is this the same/similar in quality to Micellar Casein?

1 AnswerMen's Health9 years agoSyria's banned weapons stockpile escalating % of 'outside intervention'?
Over the last week I've been getting a little more concerned over the claims that Syria has stockpiles of chemical & biological weapons....
The Syrian regime stated yesterday it would never use these weapons internally - on its own people
Would this exclusion be contained to those considered loyal to the regime ?
Would Assad be prepared to use them against the rebel uprising, therefore causing serious, lingering collateral damage to both the wider population and environment?
This situation, would, I feel, definitely tip the threshold on some kind of hard intervention.
..
The main issue I thought of was that, if or when the regime collapses (I believe this is just a matter of time - the only variable is the amount of bloodshed/destruction caused in the process), the fate of these weapons is at high risk of falling into the hands of terrorist groups. The BBC unsurprisingly highlights Hezbollah - who would pose a real and significant threat regionally within the immediate region (Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Egypt ), this alone would threaten world instability. However, if Al Qaeda were to get hold of these chemical/biological agents.....
So basically I reckon the shift of focus in terms of action will begin to shift away from just purely humanitarian issues to 'the need to secure' WMD's.
How do others view the situation with regards to the points I've mentioned?

2 AnswersMilitary9 years agoChanging ISP and retaining Yahoo Answers profile?
Hi Guys
I guess the clue is in the title, basically I'm changing my ISP from BT - who, as other BT customers in the UK will know, supply a yahoo related email account - name@btinternet.com.
Obviously my yahoo email will be deactivated, is there a way of keeping my yahoo answers user profile - ie by signing up for a free yahoo account and migrating/re-associating my current yahoo answers profile over to the new, independent yahoo account?
2 AnswersOther - Yahoo Products9 years agoIndian Curry / Masala - How to make variations on a theme?
Hi there
I am an avid fan of great tasting Indian curries, I've recently completed an evening course in Indian Cooking too, which has further improved my curries... The course was great, however, many of the bases involved a lot of oil and given that I'm still on a diet, I've avoided / modified these recipes to suit
Example - Curry / Masala base, where I start of with some safflower oil in a pan and add the following... cardamon pods, fennel, cumin seeds and shortly after ginger & garlic / puree. Onions can be added at this stage, but they tend to require a lot of oil to get that golden brown texture - so I've been leaving them out, probably at the expense of a good tasting masala.
I've also discovered that if the above spices are added powdered, then they burn very quickly - even at low heat?? so I now add them with the tomatoes
Anyway. I then add 1 whole 400g tin plum tomatoes (un-blended with seeds), or a tube of tomato puree, plus hot chilli powder, turmeric and coriander powder. If the mixture is too liquid, I add around 10g cornflour with half glass of water - which I find can moderate the fiery-ness too
I usually let the whole thing simmer for a good 10 mins, adding salt to balance any initial rawness and simmer for a further 20-30.
So I end up with a very spicy, great tasting curry, always with a tomato base, obviously very red-orange and verging on a madras/vindaloo theme
My question is how to make alternative curry bases using ingredients from scratch in order to arrive at a great tasting, medium or medium-hot curry sauce of different flavours / colours - tikka, balta, rogan josh, biryani etc
Top tips please
2 AnswersEthnic Cuisine9 years agoSuitable gear for wild camping at height - Lakes/ Snowdonia?
Basically, I have all the necessary kit for walking the hills of Snowdonia/Lakes in all weather bar ice/ snow, however, I have always fancied a spot of camping at altitude - above 2000-2500 ft, just for a night or two and in the summer (what remains) or early autumn.
Now I know its frowned upon by the National Trust/Forestry Commission and farmers would get especially irate if they found out - however, I am very respectful of the environment and would keep my activities subtle and low key - ie no fires, nor camping in a field 500m from a working farm in a bright yellow tent with dance music blasting out at 1am and then departing in the morning amid a trail of discarded rubbish.
I'm thinking a 2-3 season sleeping bag and a tent of good construction would suffice?
Are Camping Gaz still the benchmark for small stoves, or are there other alternatives out now?
What would be the best models in terms of value for money/performance (yes I know this a compromise)?
Would it be worthwhile looking for a secondhand tent?
Where would be the best places to look - apart from local media such as the Loot etc
Help and advice most appreciated

1 AnswerCamping9 years agoCreating movie from.avi files in Microsoft Movie Maker?
My experience with MM 2.0 to date has been creation of movies from scratch - from combining a range of static images with mp3 audio, saving the resulting .wmv file to my desktop - rather than import a live video clip.
So, I import the short .avi clip 6 mins/49MB, which MM then usefully splits up into a myriad of smaller video clips, which I then have to re-combine to give a single video stream within the timeline editing window.
I then attempt to save the movie file to my computer's desktop, whereby it appears to begin saving the movie - however, the actually saving portion (ie the progress bar) never actually begins, as the estimated time to completion just continues to rise without ever appearing to top out
I cancelled at ETA 700 minutes to complete - as this is clearly incorrect for such a small file size...
Any ideas?
1 AnswerSoftware9 years agoWhat are the options over Syria now?
Given the latest veto on further sanctions by both Russian and China, where does the West look to now in terms of resolution? It is very clear that neither of the latter countries would tolerate a coalition-led military intervention - in fact that scenario would bring us very close to the brink. The Russians have made it clear they are unhappy about the trend of the USA in imposing regime change across the globe in the guise of humanitarian issues, they are also insecure over the encroachment of the EU into its former domain in the Eastern Bloc. Basically, the Russian stance on Syria is similar to that of the Iran issue, in that any military action has been warned against by them.
Clearly, any UN related punitive measures are toothless - especially without the backing of Russia and China. Heavy western sanctions will cause a split and may even result in the eastern nations shifting position to support Syria.
What are the options now?
Wait and see if the uprising continues to gain strength, along with the defections, causing a regime collapse, or a military coup?
Watch the countries destruction unfold?

Decide to ignore the veto and also ignore the threat of global war and launch a military operation?
I expect that would escalate things to a global level of tension similar to October 1962
4 AnswersCurrent Events9 years agoHow to best ingest an insoluble powder food supplement?
I've recently bought some food supplement in bulk powder form - i've used it before in caplets, the powder was available at much lower price for the same net weight....
However, the powder is very fine, totally insoluble and therefore annoying floats on top of water/milk rather than dissolve in it - making consumption tricky, not to mention its very weird taste.
Is there an easy way to ingest this?
Initial thoughts I had was buying some empty gel caps - if available? (large enough to fill easily etc)
Wrapping the product up in rice paper or similar?
Using the product in cooking - unsure of the impact of heating on the product's effectiveness..

I'm trying to register for a free music website - www.tuneid.com.
First page asks for D.O.B, next page requires image verification / anti-spam, all I get is a the image placeholder & red cross combo. Tried refreshing image - no dice Even tried right click, show image
I've tried installing the latest java for chrome application, turned off adblock plus, checked tools>settings>advanced settings>content settings.. <allow local data to be set> = on, as is <show all images>
Also tried accessing site from IE8 and applied the following
Tools> Internet options> Security> tick the "Internet" icon> Security level box> set slider to "Medium high"> OK out.
General cookie settings should be:
Tools> Internet Options> Privacy> Advanced: tick "Override..."; Allow 1st party cookies; Allow session Cookies ►BLOCK 3rd Party cookies> OK> OK.
Go to the site needing approval & copy the URL from address bar, then:
Tools> Internet Options> Privacy> Sites> paste that URL into top line> Allow> OK> OK.
The "Pop-up Blocker" may also need to be modified to accommodate the site.
Tools> Internet Options> Pop up blocker heading> Settings> repeat URL pasting into the slot> Close> OK.
Any ideas?
Just a thought - it could be the site itself, so can someone confirm it they can view the image themselves - no need to complete registration, just enter DOB on page 1 and if site is working properly then image should display on page 2 (without entering any further detail)

1 AnswerGoogle9 years agoFlying out to Thailand area in 2013?
I am considering flying out to Thailand for at least 2 weeks next year - for the first time... will be looking to source own accommodation. Looking to avoid Bangkok if possible (arrivals/departures permitting)
When is the best time to travel out there in order to miss out on the monsoon season, get good weather for visiting the islands/beaches etc and also get the best deals on airfares?
Which is the best UK airport/tour operator/airline in terms of quality and value?
I gather I will need a boatload of inoculations too - yippee!! how long before departure date to these need to be administered and are there any residual ill-effects from these?
3 AnswersThailand9 years agoKnowledge of Conjugated Linoleic Acid anyone?
I've used this supplement in gel capsule form recently to effectively lose weight via fat metabolisation.
Without going into the biochemistry, its claimed to be part of the Omega-6 group of EFA's.
I've read several articles which claim, that while CLA aids in rapid fat burning, it has also been observed to increase fat stores in the liver - in my view, this is a very undesirable side effect.
However, I am still planning to continue to use this for the next 8-12 weeks ONLY.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it is
To provide some knowledge on the effects & mechanism of this supplement on the body in terms of rapid fat build up in the liver from short term ingestion at doses of circa 1000mg/d ??
What kind of fat deposition levels are we talking about here in terms of health risk?
Now before you rush off and report back findings from online medical journal extracts, I'm looking for a real understanding of this substance on the body - from a medical/biochemistry knowledge base.
Otherwise I will delete the question and no-one gets 10 pts, as I've already looked at said articles.

1 AnswerMedicine9 years agohow much sea salt to add?
I am using a jug-type water filter and I've been told, that as well as removing heavy metals and other unwanted impurities, the ion-exchange process actually strips out all the vital electrolytes out of tap water too. Basically, I'm drinking distilled water :I
(totally unlike Evian like in any shape or form - despite what Brita may lead people to assume)
Therefore, I now need to add a very small quantity of sea salt to bring about an electrolytic composition analogous to mineral water. I'm guessing this would be somewhere between 0.25 - 1gram?
How little would I need to dose 2 litres of filtered water - without 'over-salting'?
