Ok guys, this weekend I was using a 11' 6wt Cabela's LSi Spey and Switch Rod for steelhead fishing in lake Erie. I really liked the rod I caught 2 steelhead (one was 10 pounds) with it and lost 4 or 5 but the only type of cast i was using and a roll/spey cast. So basically I was wondering if when your using spey rods can you use the traditional fly cast and the false casting with those types of rods?

Any help will be appreciated. Im thinking about buying one of these rods soon.

i was watching a fishing show on verses and they were in Vancouver trolling for salmon. And it look like they were using fly fishing rods and reels, they didnt have fly line on them though. They might of been center pin reels but they had drags..... Do they make fly fishing reel that you can troll with or are they just reels that look like fly reels?

I was looking at dry files online today and some of them are skating flies. What does that mean? How do you use a skating fly?

What is the best fly line weight for fishing for steelhead in northeast Ohio? And what is that best Taper? Weight foward or Double taper?

Whats the best knot for tying a mono leader to weight forward fly line?

Is the perfection loop to loop a good and reliable knot for tying them together? I saw that becuase most of the tapered leaders have the perfection loop on them.

Oh and P.S. I fish for steelhead in the rivers of Lake Erie so the fish i fish for are strong and I dont want any to break me off because of the knot

Ive been listening to some dubstep every now and again but im really starting to like it, what are some good artists/bands/what ever you wanna call them. Do Dubstep artists make albums of the songs they make or are they like just single songs? Thanks for the help

I bought a bunch of flies/streamers from this website and I got these 2 bass streamers and they are kind of big and when im trying to cast them it they dont shoot as far but when im using the other little ones the cast/shoot perfect.

The size hooks on the big flies are 2/0 and im using 5/6 WF fly line.

Do I have to do something different with using bigger flies?

When the steelhead are running in the river of lake Erie is it better to use wet flies and streamers or Surface Flies? Or is it good to just use both

I have a fly fishing rod and reel combo but its really old (40+ years) and I want a new rod+reel combo. I mostly fish for large mouth and small mouth bass and bluegill. But when the steelhead are running at Lake Erie I want to be able to take the rod with me to fish for steelhead with it. I am only 16 so I have to buy this rod and reel so I would like it not to be more than $150. If you guys/girls have any suggestions please tell me. Thanks!

Okay well when im trying to get the line to shoot so it will go farther. I start out buy false casting about 30 feet of line and i have another 10 feet of line in my hand, ill false cast it about 4-5 times and then ill whip it forward and let go of the line in my hand and no more line will cast out other than the original 30 feet i was false casting.

The line im using is pretty old, i would say anywhere form 5-10 years old. Could my problem be that im using really old line or am i just doing something wrong

What do the different line weights mean? Does it help with your casting. more weight= farther the cast? Is it easier to cast sinking or floating fly line

I have been fly fishing for a few months now and I want to buy a new fly fishing rod and reel combo.

I have been using a 40+ year old fly fishing rod that was given to me by my grandpa and its not really a "good" quality fishing rod.

I want to know what a good combo would be if im fishing for mostly Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass, Bluegill, and if its good enough I might take it to Lake Erie when the Steelhead are running up he streams, and maybe even try fishing for pike with it!

My budget is about $150 tops

Ive been fly fishing for like a month now and ive caught bass, and some big bluegill. But i dont know if i casting right, Do any of you guys have good tips for casting with a fly rod? Im a beginner so dont get to complicated.

Today i caught a 3 pound bass and it sallowed the hook, i tried getting the hook out i was very careful when trying to get it out but i couldnt. How long will it take the hook to rust out, and will the bass die?

Yesterday when i was fishing my pond a caught a snapping turtle but i didnt get to land it because it cut my line, but how can i catch this snapping turtle again so i can get it out of my pond? Should i kill it or move it to another pond?

Is it normal for a bass to eat birds? Its sound kinda weird but today when i was fishing in my pond i caught a 3 pound bass and when i was getting my popper out of its mouth i say 2 bird legs and the birds claws sticking out of its throat. My pond doesnt have very many/no bluegill in it so i think that's why it had to eat a bird, i have also noticed that since there is no bluegill for the bass to eat they are eating all the little bass. Should me and my dad get more bluegill in our pond?
