  • Dog vomiting and diarrhea (visited vet yesterday)?

My dog (a 3 year old pug/doxie mix) was at the kennel over the weekend and had diarrhea when I got him home. As the day progressed it got worse and he finally got to the point he could hardly walk. He threw up once in this time. The following morning we saw the vet. He was tested for parasites given a physical exam and I was sent home with an anti inflammatory and medicine to help the diarrhea as well as instructions for a bland diet. By the end of that day his strength seemed to be back and most of this morning he has been himself other than diarrhea and not showing any interest in food. This evening he has started vomiting every 30 minutes or so. Does this sound like anything you have had experience with? Is there any home remedy for the vomiting until we can see the vet in the morning?

  • Treating split/bit thumb for a thumb sucker (5 months)?

I have a 5 month old who has two bottom teeth and sucks his thumb. His thumb is not dry and red so it seems he has has bit through the base of his thumb while sleeping. I am afraid it will get infected. During the day I have been putting an Neosporin on it and covering it with a mitten and for naps and overnight I will clean his thumb off and let him suck it, otherwise there will be no sleep for anyone! Have any of you had this problem and how did you treat it?

  • Will pumping increase my milk supply?

I have a low milk supply and early on we had some problems with jaundice then he was not gaining weight. So I have started supplimenting with formula by my dr reccomendation. When I try to pump I cannot get more than 1/2 and oz out of both breasts combined . Even though I am not really getting anything would pumping still help to increase my milk supply?

My pump is a Medela In style, so it is a decent pump...

  • What to expect with Plastibell healing?

My son was circumcised using the Plastibell 5 days ago. It has been healing just fine until this evening it looks like skin on one side of his penis has detached from the Plastibell. Is this normal healing or should I be worried? I was told it would fall off but did not think to ask questions of what to expect to see happen as it does so.

He has weight check up at 2pm tomorrow when I will consult his pediatrician about it, but I wanted some answers before then. I am kind of freaking out about it...

  • I breastfeed but cannot pump milk?

I had my baby by c section 5 days ago. I have been breast feeding and my milk seemed to come in two days ago. He has a good amount of dirty diapers but has not yet gotten out of the meconium stage. He has also spent a couple of days under Bili lights due to Jaundice. I am seeing my pediatrician and we are discussing weather or not I am producing enough breast milk. In order to try and measure this i have attempted pumping today. and after nearly an hour i dont evfen have 1/2 oz. I have started suplimenting with formula but I am sure my baby has been getting more than this durring actual feedings....Do any of you have any insight on this issue. I need to call my pediatrician back but im trying to pull myself together first the thought that i may have been starving my baby kills me.

  • I have been told my baby may be too big for my pelvis?

but it is all an estimate. My baby may also have 'macronomia' meaning he is a large baby. According to Ultrasound he is 8 lbs 14 oz (4000gm) at 38 weeks. My doctor has suggested a c-section. He also mentioned he would not consider inducing me an option since this is my first babyand my cervix is in no way ready, which means it would probably end in c-section anyway.

I would rather wait for my body to go into labor on its own then get an emergency c-section if required. This way I know I at least gave it a shot.

Have any of you been in a similar situation? Am I nuts to try and avoid the C-section?

I just wanted a few opinions from women who have dealt with this. Thanks.

  • emergency c-section vs scheduled c-section?

am 38 weeks and my baby measures 8 lbs 14 oz (4000g) by ultrasound (which I realize can be up to 20% innacurate) My doctor has now told me that a c-section is an option and should be something I consider. He thinks my pelvis may be too small to deliver a large baby (which is also just an estimation). I want to avoid a c-section if possible. I was wondering if any of you ladies have had both types of c-section and what the big difference was as far as recovery.

I understand an emergency c/s is different as far as procedures but was wanting to know if the pain/recovery was much worse than a scheduled.

  • My dog peed in my bed :(?

My dog is a 15 month Pug/Doxie mix and he has been well behaved and potty trained for a long time. We have had very few accidents in the house since we got him and all of them were more than 6 months ago. This week he peed in my bed for the first time! Could this be an attention issue. I admit to not paying quite as much attention to him this past month (I have a baby due in 3 weeks), we also moved 4 months ago, im not sure that that would have anything to do with it...

At night we keep him in his crate but durring the day he is allowed in the bed. Should I start training him not to get in the bed? Should I expect more of this once the baby arrives? Any advice on how to correct and prevent this behavior?

  • 34 weeks and sharp vaginal pain?

In the past week or two I have started experiencing sharp vaginal pain. It gets to the point where I will have to completely stop for a moment until the pain subsides. Is this a sign of Baby moving down and preparing for labor or just normal pregnancy pain?

  • Painting a brick fireplace?

I have a fireplace in my home. It is brick and has been painted before. It looks like a thin, flat, white paint, possibly a primer. I want to repaint it just to freshen it up. What kind of paint should I use?

Im sure a trip to Lowes or Home Depot will answer my question this weekend...I was just curious and had to ask.
