Opinion on blind/deaf dog?
So my dog is 14 years old. She has been completely blind for over a year now. Now she is starting to go deaf too. She barks and wanders around quite a lot. We have her bloods done every now and then to check for any illnesses but apart from her failing senses she is well.
I'm after opinions on whether it is fairer to put a blind and deaf dog to sleep or should we just keep nursing her along until something life threatening happens to her. Very difficult decision.
Only sensible replies please. This is a sensitive topic.

Is a 38cm high terrarium tall enough for a Dainty Tree Frog?
1 AnswerReptiles1 decade agoGreen tree frog still won't eat?
We have been looking after a Green Tree Frog (Australian) for 2 weeks now. It was found in a banana box. It hasn't eaten on it's own since we got it. After a week it was very lethargic and emaciated. My husband who is a Vet force fed it a few crickets a day for a few days. It improved a lot. It's body condition improved and it looked moist and bright green again. We have now left it a few days hoping it would start feeding for itself but it hasn't.
We are in a colder part of Australia but we have warmed the water in the enclosure to keep the temp and humidity up as per care instructions. Not sure what else we can do.
Will this frog ever come good or is it a lost cause?
5 AnswersReptiles1 decade agoKeeping Green Tree Frogs. Hard work?
My husband brought home an Green Tree Frog (Australian) for my son. It's a refugee from a banana box. We can't let it go as it is no longer in it's natural climate and wouldn't survive. I have been researching how to look after them and it seems like a pretty complex set-up is needed. Heaters, lights, filters, humidity, licenses.
Is it really as hard as it sound? What can I expect to spend to get a proper set-up? Are they rewarding pets? My son loves it of course but I just want to make sure it is worth it before we go to all this effort & expense.
2 AnswersReptiles1 decade agoSubstitute for Apple cider vinegar?
I'm making a new mango chicken recipe. It has coconut milk in it. It is supposed to have Apple cider vinegar but I haven't got any.
I have rice wine vinegar. Would this work or would it be best to leave it out altogether?
3 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoHow do I get my 3 year old to stay in bed?
I have a very active, strong-willed, fearless 3 year old boy who keeps us on duty until 9 - 9.30 at night popping in and out of his room. We have tried all sorts of things to make him stay in the room but nothing works. Unless he is REALLY tired he just keeps coming out. It is so exhausting at that time of night when we just need a break.
We have been using Dr Green's Patent rope trick on his door regularly since he moved to a bed nearly a year ago. It works well but we don't want to have to do that forever.
We have tried not talking and just putting him back time and time again. He finds this very amusing and doesn't get sick of it at all. We have tried smacking. No fun for anybody. I've tried telling him he will get a sticker in the morning but of course he's too young to be able look that far ahead.
I need ideas to get him to stay in his room by choice.
6 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoToilet training problem. What do I do?
I have a nearly 3 year old boy. We tried toilet training a few months ago. It went OK and then he went backwards. Just started having accidents and not even telling me. Wouldn't try on the toilet etc. So we forgot about it for a while and put him back in nappies and waited.
He then showed interest again. So we adopted a very 'no pressure' tactic with a small reward when he used the toilet. It was going quite well for about a week or 2 but now he has lost interest again. Started having accidents and saying he wants a nappy.
What do I do? Should I persevere or should I put him back in nappies?
13 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoBreastfeeding. Ideas needed?
I need some ideas for remembering which boob I'm up to. I've always used an old hairtie around my wrist which I swap over at feeds so I can remember which side to start next time. But it's not a good look so I need a new idea. I've tried using just my memory or the feel of the breast and I'm hopeless. My baby drinks both sides so as the day goes on I can't feel any difference. I'd love to know what method other people use. Thanks.
8 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoToddler behaviour drama?
I have a 2.5 year old who is naughty at every opportunity. The minute I can't watch him eg. changing 4 month olds nappy or on the phone he is into something. Such as covering my entire lounge room in talcum powder twice in one day or taking something from the fridge or bench and hiding somewhere to eat or drink it. Nothing we do in terms of discipline seems to have any effect at all. We've tried smacking, naughty corner, yelling, shutting him in his room, confiscating toys.
My latest is low response. Tell him it's wrong in a deadpan voice then take him to his room so he is not getting any attention. But he just doesn't care. Nothing we do deters him from going straight back and doing the same thing at the next opportunity.
Help! Does anyone have any ideas.
