“Five year plans and new deals, wrapped in golden chains”,

a line in CCR's song, Who'll stop the Rain.

It's odd left wing singers would recognize the truth.

Perhaps that is just one of the paradoxes of youth.

Egalitarian, passionate, naive, yet aware of the fact

there must be a limit to how government should act.

For all that government gives, some freedom is lost

It is not until much later we add up the cost.

Joe Stalin was the first author of the five year plan.

and in the United States FDR was the man

who created our huge growing entitlement mentality

where so many folks now believe that money is free.

They can just sit back, relax and never have to work

and receive all of that money and any duties they shirk.

They lose the ability to grow and to better them self

And potential to improve is laid on a shelf.

As they continue to be suckled at the government teat

their personal development will know only defeat.

That's the way it is and the way it will be

That socialism will work through out all of eternity.
