  • I feel less classy than my friends...?

No matter how I dress or how I wear my hair, I don't ever feel as "classy" as those I run with. I can spend just as much on my new hair do and be trendy, plus, I buy the same clothes, etc...as them, but to me they always seem prettier and classier than me, like the look is better on them. I never really told anyone this, but recently my 17 year old daughter told me this about herself, and I realized I am not alone cause that's exactly how I feel when I'm around other women, her friends moms, etc..I've never been put down or talked down to about my appearance or looks. I know I'm an attractive woman, and so is my daughter, but wonder what makes us feel like we don't wear the same look as the other women.

  • How long does strep throat last?

My 16 year old has strep throat. I took her to the doctor yesterday, so she has been taking antibiotics for 24hours now. No one in my household has ever had this, so I'm wondering how long to expect her fever to continue and her throat to be so sore. Her fever comes back up everytime the Ibuprofen wears off, and is usually around 102.7. Anyone familiar with this illness?

  • My 4 year old has noticeable cavities on molars. He's not bothered by them yet,?

but I'm wondering if they really need filled or it can wait. I have good insurance and it will pay for everything, however, when I took him to the dentist, he was not cooperating, and they want to put him to sleep, then do x-rays and the work. I have a friend who did this with their child and he came out with nearly all of his teeth capped in silver. I feel like often times the insurance company is "taken advantage" of at the expense of the child. My son would be embarrassed to have all those teeth silver. The second opinion dentist we visited said just to keep his teeth clean and wait until he would cooperate. Anyone have experience with this. Out of 5 children, this is the only one who had dental issues so early in life. I'm not sure when these molars are replaced by permanent teeth either. Any "educated" opinion is appreciated.

  • Weight Watchers or Jenny Craig?

I'm looking to lose about 40lbs, but am waiting until the holidays are over so not to disappoint myself. I lost 40lbs about 8 years ago, but have regained it by having more babies, after the age of 35 doesn't help either. I did it before on Atkins, which was easy and enjoyable at the time, but just isn't what I want to do now. Does anyone have any experience with Weight Watchers or Jenny Craig? I've heard that it helps to go to the meetings with WW, but is it easy to use their eating plan? I remember when my parents did it forever ago, they had to add up points daily. I've heard it's different now. My daughter has a friend on Jenny Craig, and she is loving it. It's so expensive though. My aunt says just to buy frozen lean meals and morning oats and fruit and you have the same thing for a lot less than 300 per month. I'm just thinking that if I were paying 300.00 per month, I would be more likely to stay with it. I would really like some insight from some of you with experience with either of these.

  • Cornbread stuffing in a slow cooker?

I'm seeing lots of good reviews on stuffing in a slow cooker, and this would really help me out for Thanksgiving dinner since I have a tiny oven, however, I made my stuffing in a slow cooker a couple of years ago and it came out tasting identical to Stove Top stuffing, I was very disappointed. It was tasty, but definitely not what I was going for. I am looking for it to come out the consistency of being cooked in the oven, not mushy like the boxed kind. Is that possible in the slow cooker? I used the cubed bread like Pepperidge Farms when I made it in the slow cooker before. Would it make a difference if I used crumbled cornbread and some toasted white bread instead of the pre-pkg. kind or will it come out the same anyway. I'd like it to be crispy on the top too.

  • Rules of safety about home canning?

I am interested in canning my homemade salsa, but cannot find real clear guidlines about storage. I would really like to use it for gift giving at Christmas, but the recipes I find always say to refridgerate. I would actually be putting it in sterilized, self sealing jars, and cannot see why they would still require refridgeration. I would also like to can some spaghetti sauce. I really don't want to use it for gift giving if it must be refridgerated. I remember my grandmother canning many things in her kitchen and she always stored them on the shelf. My husband says that if it contains vinegar, it won't spoil, but I just can't find any exacts on any home extension websites or anywhere. I would really like to get started right away if I'm going to give it for Christmas. Does anyone have any information about this?
